Diverse LGBTQ Manga Magazine ‘Saturday BRUNCH’ Launches with Preview Issue
On June 30, Saturday AM, the self-proclaimed “world’s most diverse shounen and seinen manga-style comics brand” released a preview issue of their new magazine, Saturday BRUNCH. The magazine will officially launch in September.
Saturday Brunch is devoted to featuring diverse josei, shoujo, and LGBTQ stories. Fredrick L. Jones, the publisher of Saturday BRUNCH and founder of Saturday AM, said in a forward included in the issue that:
I wanted our magazine to present women with agency and gay characters whose ‘look’ could be Latin or Middle Eastern, or African. I also wanted stories with women and queer characters to have all genres without ROMANCE being a requirement.
The preview issue is available for free on the Saturday AM website. This first issue includes:
An extended preview of Spirit Pizza by Dagger Starfighter, which follows a pizza delivery girl with depression as she does battle with supernatural spirits.
A profile piece about legendary mangaka Rumiko Takahashi

24 hour tavern and most of the people working there are fae and due to that either hate people, want to fuck up peoples lives with pranks, or are genuinely sweet. Few humans venture into the tavern. Those that do are either incredibly brave or incredibly stupid. Their patrons are mostly werefolk who are too tired to care, selkies who have lost their coats and with it their purpose, vampires who fear no god, and fae who have either been exiled or are trying to worm their way into a human’s life.
question! what is the etiquette for tipping the fae? do they accept tips or is this considered insulting? does leaving a tip endanger the tipper’s soul?
Fae can be tipped I guess but maybe they would have something like invisible wings that only be visible at a certain time

Anything that isn’t critical in the moment, and could be filled in later while I’m currently trying to burn through writing pages that will be lost if I don’t get them out right now? Brackets.
This is seriously the best advice, and it really helps put it into perspective that the first draft is just that- a draft. There’s no reason to agonize over a particularly tricky bit of writing when you could just leave it in brackets and skip to the good parts, the parts you’ve visualized. I also use brackets for [fact-check this], [use a stronger verb], [is this in character?] and other notes as I write, just so I don’t forget what I want to work on when I go back and edit.
This works for academic writing too. If you know where you’re going just leave yourself notes to fill in later. I do this all the time,

@makingqueerhistory has some diversity, as of historical queer people, and they’re doing a great job, but there’s a lot of work ahead.

This isn’t perfect, and many of these only have one article, but here is our list of countries we have written about. We are hoping to one day have at least one article for every country in the world but as @every-book-has-a-secret there is a lot of work still to do.

lol when i was working in retail, i was asked by my boss to organise the socks and i was doing the asian squat comfortably and she just went “how can you do that?? that doesnt hurt your feet or legs??” and im surprised not everyone can do it. but it’s literally the most comfortable position for me. i do it too when the bus is taking really long and there’s no bench to sit on
