Translation is always tricky, but I remember this slightly different:

Figs were an imported delicacy at the time, and the donkey just managed to eat them (without being given any on purpose). Seeing a donkey eating several times their own value in figs, the philosopher looked to his servant who might have been standing there either in shock, despair, or both, and said something along the lines of “Oh don’t just stand there. Get him some (undiluted) wine to wash the figs down with”. With (undiluted) wine also being an expensive drink.

I feel like that context makes it funnier. Basically like standing in front of your burning mansion with a butler, meeting their eyes, and telling them that you still feel a little chilly and ask them if they could put on an extra log or two.

Easy Master Sword.

I just found out about this glitch this morning. I thought I dreamt it up. It was like, 2 am

What you gotta do is light up a bonfire next to the pedestal, look up at around the pink leaves, sit at the bonfire till morning, press A repeatedly until you pick up the sword. You can do it without 13 hearts! I have 10 here, but you can do this at any point as long as you can get a bonfire going.

What do you think are the criteria for wielding the Master Sword? How flawed can one be before the blade refuses the wielder?

Well...first off, you have to be Link.

The sword was specifically forged for him, and the only other person we ever see holding the sacred blade is Zelda, who has divine blood running through her.

If we take Wind Waker Link to not be...well, Link, then he has to prove himself to the Master Sword while it's too weak to resist him.

Second, you have to be up to the task, or the Master Sword takes matters into its own hands.

And occasionally, it has additional locks keeping it in place.

Finally...you have to show it that you’re going to use it correctly.

If you’ve ever messed up, if you’ve failed your destiny, then it becomes...fickle.

It DEMANDS experience.

It leaves if mishandled.

And it rejects an unsteady hand.

The Sword that Seals the Darkness is a fickle, temperamental blade. If you’re not up to the task, it forces you to be. And if you fail it, it does not forgive easily.

im just posting this to say, i have never, in my entire life, seen anyone acknowledge its existence.

not only have i never seen fanart of qwilfish, ive absolutely never seen it mentioned in any kind of pokemon discussion, ever

I had a friend who honest to god IV bred and trained several Qwilfish. He didn’t tell anyone about them, you found out because  he’d suddenly pull out the Qwilfish team against you when you didn’t expect it.

And every single one of them knew Explosion. All of his Qwilfish were IV bred and EV trained for speed and max damage, they all held choice scarf, and his entire gameplan was to trade KOs with exploding Qwilfish. Their names were ‘So’, ‘I’, ‘herd’, ‘u’, and ‘liek’. The man was an avid mudkip fanatic at the time that joke was relevant, so here you are expecting his last pokemon to be a Mudkip or a Swampert, but no. It’s a Snorlax. Who’s name was ‘QWILFISH’ And his plan from that point out was to stall for ages with Rest, Yawn and Giga Impact. Slowly whittle away at your hitpoints while putting you to sleep with him and retaining his massive HP pool with rest and leftovers. Oh, and just in case you were wondering, this was Gen 4, when the R4 was rampant and everyone knew someone with one, so pokemon with moves they shouldn’t know was pretty common. So once you were down to your last pokemon and on your last legs… His Snorlax also knew Explosion. 250 base damage + stab.

That man was a treasure.
