Hey scratch
If you're writing anything involving cons, scams, heists, or morally questionable characters who are very good at lying, here are some free resources I've been using for research. Saving you the "why is this in my search history" anxiety.
1. The FBI's Famous Cases & Criminals archive (fbi.gov/history/famous-cases) has detailed breakdowns of real fraud cases, Ponzi schemes, and confidence operations. The language they use is clinical and precise, which is perfect for getting the procedural details right.
2. The FTC Consumer Sentinel Network publishes annual reports on the most common fraud tactics in the US. Great for understanding how modern scams actually work and what makes people fall for them.
3. The Smithsonian's American Art Museum has a free digital collection of forgery case studies. If your character forges documents or art, this is gold.
4. Court Listener (courtlistener.com) is a free legal database where you can read actual court transcripts from fraud trials. Want to know how a real con artist talks under oath? This is where you find out.
5. The Internet Archive's collection of old newspaper crime sections. Search for "confidence man" or "swindle" in papers from the 1920s through 1960s and you'll find incredible real stories that would feel too dramatic for fiction.
Bonus: The Psychology of Fraud section on the Association for Psychological Science website has accessible articles about why people trust, how deception works cognitively, and what makes someone a convincing liar. Essential reading if you want your con artist characters to feel psychologically real.
Reblog to save for later. Your WIP will thank you.
Jax is fine what are you talking about
Art of some of my favourite interactions from @sevencoursefics "Heat Code"! Its 18+ so be warned but its my fave thing I'm reading rn <:]

Hello! I have to admit that this is the first time I've actually learned smth about zines- And all of this right here, so I'm nervous XD
But, i have a question... And I'm srry if it's too silly or obvious, but, are we allowed to access the zine w/o intending to participate or buy anything, like, just as a viewer? And do we have to pay to access it? (When it becomes available, ofc)
Once the Zine is published it’s free for everyone to view!
The only thing that will cost money is the physical version of the Zine that will be on preorder bundle at a later date!
what’s the opposite of a poor little meow meow. this man is pathetic but he’s unfathomably cocky and i want to make him cry
woem woem
This is from Addam's family move (1991 one)
I think these two would operated on logic of these 2 movies honestly XD
The C̛̯̿͋̾o̵̰̺ͪ͊ͅo͚͚̾͑l K̛͉͍͈̈̕͟ȉ̴̟d̟̀̽s̡ are back in town
(the point of Abstraction in the story isn't lost on me but I'd just love to see it be possible to bring them back somehow)
Caine being so sweet and supportive for Pomni in the ad made me feel bad for the (consensual) bullying I've been drawing.
So Pomni will check up on Caine to see if he's ok!
oh nah they got bro masking to avoid deletion 😭✌️
I screamed and threw my phone oh my god. I’m so glad that other people think this too like NO FUCK THEY’RE MAKING HIM MASK :(
Aren't we glad the autism metaphor learned to be normal in order to literally survive, because his implied-to-be first ever meltdown was (surprise surprise) violently destructive? arent we so happy the suffering and uncertainty he went through will NEVER BE ADDRESSED??
