Winter Dreamers~
āThere is no āsupposed to beā in bodies. The question is not size of shape or years of age, or even having two of everything, for some do not. But the wild issue is, does this body feel, does it have right connection to pleasure, to heart, to soul, to the wild? Does it have happiness, joy?ā

We donāt leave burning candles unattended
Had a friend nearly burn her house down because she left a candle burning while she led everyone outside to complete part of a ritual. In that case it was a beeswax taper candle with herbs scattered through it and anointed with oil. The candle burned more quickly than expected. Adding oils and herbs to a candle can cause it to flare up unexpectedly so those didnāt help.Ā Also - many candles are made with paraffin wax and pouring water on them will cause a massive flare up. So keeping a fire extinguisher on hand is a good idea.Ā
Now, you and she both came back in time to put the fire out, which I look at as a good omen.Ā
Itās also a good idea to make sure you have something fireproof under the candle - be it a candle plate or your caldron. A fireproof container with a lid is a good idea because you put the lid over the container to smoother the fire.Ā

Bekkathystās Prosperity & Success Jar
I just threw together a little jar to help me focus on my work (business has been a bit slow this month), and lift my spirits a bit. These are just the things that work for me, so it might not be the same for everyone. Before I put everything together, I lit a yellow candle and saidĀ thisĀ little chant. Just to help me focus on my goal.Ā
Hereās what I added and why:
Basil-Ā Attracts luck, money, success
Cinnamon stick-Ā Attracts prosperityĀ
Ginger root-Ā Attracts money
Lavender-Ā Eases depression, brings peaceĀ
Nutmeg-Ā Attracts luck and prosperityĀ
Lemon peel-Ā Rids of negativity
Orange oil-Ā Attracts luck and success
A drop of seawater-Ā I added this for me because the ocean is my happy place, and I collected that seawater on a trip to my favorite rocky beach with my husband.Ā
Natural citrine-Ā Brings luck and prosperity, and banishes negative energyĀ
Amethyst-Ā Rids of negative energy
Quartz-Ā For itās cleansing and balancing properties
As I added everything, I said the properties out loud, and I was very focused on my goal of happiness and prosperity. It helps me to visualize the ocean since itās my happy place, but you must visualize whatever makes you happy and focused.Ā
I Liked bekkathystās Prosperity & Success Jar. I made one to add to my altar. I tweaked it a bit as I live near mountains, not the ocean. I added some stones collected from one of my favorite hikes in lieu of seawater.
Love these fairy tale treehouses.
This one is called theĀ āHiggeldyā by itās owner.Ā
It was inspired by a birdās nest. Look at the unusual lighting fixture.
Lovely corner kitchen with black counter & backsplash. Love the branch above.Ā
Cozy bed, perfect for reading.Ā

Cast Iron Care
I grew up in what I call a cast iron family. All the pans were cast iron, we had a few enamel pots for pasta, and one beat up copper bottomed pan for boxed mac and cheese. My mom cooked most days and when she didnāt, it was mac and cheese or pasta because we werenāt allowed to cook with her pans unless she was there.
Cast iron has some mixed reviews, some (me), swear by it and some, think itās difficult and impossible to cook withā¦and theyāre right to a degree (get it, degree, cooking, farenheit, celciusā¦sorry), if you donāt know how to care for cast iron, itās a hassle and a mess. Thatās what this post is for though!
Seasoning
Seasoning is the term used to treat and clean cast iron. Even when you buy a new āpre-seasonedā pan, youāre going to want to season it yourself. A major benefit of cooking with cast iron is that it retains flavor, and makes its own seasoning for your foodā¦like magic!
Step 1: Clean your pan with HOT water and a scouring brush, rough side of a sponge, or steel wool. Nothing elseā¦just water and something rough.
Step 2: Dry it completely with paper towels, and then place it on a lit stovetop burner for a minute or so to make sure itās completely dry.
Step 3: While the pan is warm, probably 10-20 minutes after you remove from stove, (because it retains heat like no oneās business, and I donāt want you to burn yourself) pour some oil* into the pan and spread it around, completely coating the inside. Wipe off excess.
Step 4: Place in the oven set to 200Āŗ F, Upside Down for 2 hours
BOOM! Your pan is seasoned and ready to cook with.
*But Barber, what kind of oil? Thatās mostly up to you, but canola is the classic standard (vegetable oil) but I use olive oil or canola, depending on what I used last. You can use any vegetable oil you want, whether thatās grapeseed, sunflower or flax seed, but thereās no reason to go crazy and buy a āCast Iron Care Oilā because thatās literally just a marked up bottle of canolaā¦No Lies.
NEVER USE SOAP WHEN CLEANING YOUR CAST IRON,and hereās whyā¦**
Soap is great for clothes, and your body, and even your car, but not for Cast Iron. Cast iron is a porous metal, so when you put something in, it absorbs. When you cook with it regularly, and oil it regularly, it creates its own nonstick surface! Itāll absorb the taste of herbs and spices you cook with regularly, and everything gets a mild flavor boost from whatever you cooked in it previously. When you use soap, it removes that surface and flavor; soap can absorb and flavor your food, and no one wants soapy fritatas.
Now, the seasoning steps above are used when you get a new pan, or need to re-season a rusted pan. Itāll restore it like new. But what about cleaning after cooking something tastey?
Cleaning and Upkeep
Step 1: While the pan is still warm, take rock salt and/or a non-metal brush (like the one above that I use) and go crazy scrubbing it.***
Step 2: Rinse with warm water, and dry with a paper towel (I say paper towel, because itāll actually raise up some iron, and turn your towel blackā¦better use a disposable towel, or risk staining your nice linens) after that, feel free to put on the stove top for a minute to make sure itās all dry
Step 3: Coat with a little oil, wipe up excess, and store in your oven or broiler.
Special notes: The heat, salt you use to scrub, and iron itself all equal one great big anti-bacterial surface, so no worries about not using soap and feeling like youāll get salmonella. Because itās a porous surface, air drying is a no-no. Itāll lead to rust, and then youāll have to scrub it off and completely re-season it (refer to first seasoning process).
**The soap thing. You can use soap. I never do. Most soaps these days arenāt as damaging and stripping as the old ones. Again, you can use soap, but I never will because like I said, thatās how i grew up, my tradition, this is a part of my witchcraft practice, and it works for me. Updated 10/27/18 p.s. idk about yāall, but I use dish soap to get rid of oil, so while tons of people message me about using soap on it, I still am not going to break tradition of not using soap on a pan older than me. 11/27/18
***When you scrub with salt, it starts picking up iron particles and oil. Itāll start turning black and you can keep it in a jar until youāve got a good amount, bake it on a sheet to dry it, and there you have classic Black Salt! For more banishing oomph, I scald pepper in a fry pan, and add incense ash to the mix.
Hereās a creepy little song I started singing in the shower turned into a curse
This is a curse for people who fake being nice but are really mean. It rots away the good and lets their true self show.
Things you will need:
1 red apple (used in this spell to symbolize purity)
A bunch of nails
Black thread
Rope or something strong enough to hang the apple
Optional: Lighter or any source of flame
Optional: Taglock for person who you are casting this curse on
How to cast this spell:
If you have a taglock attach it to the apple (ie: tie hair around the stem, stab nail clippings into side of apple)
If you do not have a taglock take a moment to connect the apple to the person who will be cursed. Try imagining a cord wrapping around them and the apple.
Stab as many nails as you like into the apple, leaving about a half inch protruding (if you are using a lighter, gently heat the ends of the nails before stabbing them in)
Tie one end of a long piece of black thread to a nail and loop it around all the other nails until you run out of thread.
Sing this chant while you loop the thread
This is your essense, red and round
With blackened thread you will be bound
You think youāre pure but you are not
Just like this apple your soul will rot
Secure the end of the string to another nail.
Repeat step 4 if you feel it is needed.
Loop the rope under the thread you just tied off, making a U shape that opens at the top. Tie the ends together over a branch or horizontal pole.
Tip: Tie it somewhere close to their house to amplify the effect.
As the apple rots away, so will their āniceā facade

Still Practiced Pagan Rituals of Europe
For years, photographer Charles Freger, has been traveling throughout European countriesĀ trying to capture the spirit of what he calls ātribal Europeā in his āWilder Mannā series.
Pagan rituals mainly relating toĀ winter solstice and spring renewal were the most common rituals he came across. The series of pictures/costumes above are meant to explain the complicated relationship humans have with nature and life and death cycles.
The FULL SERIES is absolutely amazing. Check out all the costumes we couldnāt include in the post.
Transmutation is turning your pain into your greatest asset. Changing the energy, the memory, the trauma of our darkest moments into something new. Something useful. Something to help and to empower ourselves and those around us. Not everything happens for a reason, something are just too terrible for reason but transmutation lets you decide how it is a part of your life. Transmutation is being reborn and finding purpose within yourself. Caterpillars dissolve and digest themselves to become butterflies. They become going nothing and basically die to be reborn a new. Sometimes thatās what we have to do too, to heal.
Nightmare Magick
To Prevent Nightmares
Wash an egg in cold water and, with a pencil, write the name of the person afflicted with bad dreams.
Put the egg in a dish, then place it on a nightstand close to the sleeping place of the person.
If the egg cracks or breaks, flush it down the toilet. Repeat the spell until the egg stays intact for 7 days. Flush the remaining egg.
Citrine Nightmare Preventative
Before going to sleep, hold a citrine tightly in your dominant hand and chant:
Stone of joyful yellow light
I give my dreams to you tonight
Grab the bad ones, the rest leave free
So that I may dream peacefully
Place the stone under your pillow.
To End Nightmares
To eradicate nightmares, empower three mullein leaves with the following chant, then place them under your mattress.
Herb of mullein, now absorb
Unpleasant dreams before they form
Bring to me a restful sleep
As I will, so mote it be
