Wow! Bad faith take right here! Did you notice that, perhaps, my issue was with the people who are arguing to my face that they should have the right to smoke around me?
Did you perhaps consider that many smokers are not you, the person who does it in their house, and are instead the people who are smoking in enclosed places where it's illegal?
this post wasn't about you, but then you did make it about you, and called me names, so I am going to be a bit mean about it
Smoking the thing that famously causes uncontrollable vomiting seems like a bad match for gastrointestinal issues.
Why can you not walk away?
Well you see, they're sometimes doing it on the fucking train that I am trapped in with them.
Why doesn't the other person walk away from you?
There's a group of them standing outside the dispensary I have to walk past to get to my train.
Your health doesn't mean more to me than my pain that makes my legs not work.
Your actions are impacting the people around you, and you do not have the consent of random strangers in your space. Sure, you can legally smoke on that corner, but the child that has to stand next to you as you both wait to cross the street doesn't have the option of leaving. The person whose migraine flared up when your blunt did isn't going to stop having a migraine just by walking away; that pain is going to continue for hours, as yours gets treated. The neighbor with asthma or an allergy who has an attack because your smoke drifted through the vents into their apartment didn't consent to that happening. There are, in many cases, multiple people suffering because of the smoke. Your pain does not give you the right to cause pain in the people around you.
People smoke cigarettes still, don't hear you complaining when they have worse toxins same with vapes.
Because this post was about people claiming that secondhand weed isn't bad for you. I also hate when people smoke cigarettes, but those people aren't trying to convince me that I'm just a big baby who's being racist and ableist for not wanting to inhale their cancer chemicals.
If it's in a place where you are allowed to smoke, they can smoke.
It's not allowed in the park, they do it anyway. It's not allowed on the platform, they do it anyway. It's not allowed in the train, they do it anyway. You see, they have decided that the Actual Negative effects are fake, like I said at the start of the post, and so it's actually fine to smoke in enclosed or public spaces regardless of how many people around them would like them to not do that.
You can also do prevention measures to not be around those people.
I cannot get off of the train while it is in motion.
Also what about the actual "fear mongering" please tell me all the effects for the user
Anything you inhale, other than pure air and certain medications, increases the risk of cancer. This goes for marijuana just as much as it goes for tobacco or wood smoke or what have you.
Cannabinoid Hyperemesis Syndrome - the thing I mentioned earlier. Two weeks of uncontrollable vomiting. My brother got this one.
Addiction - people can say it not addicting, but my brother went back to smoking two days after he finally stopped vomiting, even though the doctors told him to wait a month.
Cannabis can act as a catalyst to dormant psychiatric conditions like schizophrenia, even secondhand. I have a friend with a family history of it who is upset every time they encounter secondhand weed smoke, because it has a very real chance of making them develop a debilitating disorder they otherwise might not have developed.
Fuck the people that need it for medicinal purposes! Thats all I hear here.
Fuck the people trapped on the train with smokers! Fuck the kids who are half-baked as they stumble out of daddy's car because he couldn't wait until he dropped them off to light up! Fuck the neighbor crying from the migraine you gave them because apartments share ventilation!
Fuck everyone in the vicinity! So long as you personally get to light up!
This post was aimed at people who, rather than having consideration, try to convince me that I'm the problem, whiny, whatever.
Which, hey, you did just prove yourself to be by making it all about yourself instead of asking if, perhaps, I had a goddamn reason to be frustrated by people deciding it's actually fine to smoke inside THE GODDAMN TRAIN because "it's not actually bad for you."
