So maybe it's not our "job" as disabled and/or neurodivergent folks to explain disability, neurodivergence, and ableism, but if we refuse to answer good faith questions from people who are honestly seeking answers--but who might have gotten bad info or have inaccurate preconceptions--then the loudest "explainer" voices are gonna be the far-right Prager U-type assholes who think we're all scamming, whiny, attention-seeking freeloaders unless we fit into a very narrow category they can use as inspiration porn.
Note that I'm talking about honest inquiries, not the "prove it" crowd. Those people have already made up their mind, and all they want to do is waste your time and energy.
I might not have the spoons every single day (and some of us will never have the spoons) to deal with explaining this stuff, but in general, if someone asks me about being disabled or how to not be ableist, what I'm NOT gonna do is pop off with some kinda snarky "Google is free," crap.
Because if we disabled folks won't talk to people honestly trying to learn, then GUESS whose shitty take is gonna be right there on the first page of search results?
