I have been away all weekend and not checking the MD tag here so idk if anyone has pointed this out yet... But I've off-handedly seen a bunch of discussion crossing my path talking about how this ending scene takes place in the pilot, but I don't think it does!

This isn't Uzi's original railgun. Her original railgun has stickers and a keychain, as seen in the pilot:

I think the ending is actually skipping to the present day in the canon, and what is happening is Uzi is approaching the spire and has her weapon on her in case she needs it.

I know her eyes being entirely purple without a yellow gradient is a bit of a throw off, however, there has been some promo material post series in which her eyes are seen only purple... It's odd for sure, perhaps there's something glitch has in mind for Uzi regarding that, I dunno, but I can't imagine the railgun model choice was an error.

Plus, the note it ends on: J asking "what's next?" when narratively we still don't know what's next for her, and her talk about remaining united when obviously they currently aren't.

Point being, we're definitely not done yet. I think delving into J's side of the story so the audience can sympathize before actually answering What's Next for J makes a lot of sense, especially if what's next is someone coming along to interact with her.

Might be a while before we see it, but I reckon the next "episode" is going to essentially continue where that ended.

somethin else to sorta add fuel to this, Uzi's expression is WAY different in the special compared to the pilot. The shot in the special seems to be referencing this expression, with Uzi sorta looking around for a second then furrowing her brow before going into the spire. But the pilot has Uzi look genuinely scared, hollow eyes and the lil eye mark things they get when theyre stressed. meanwhile in the special she just looks a bit uncertain, and she does NOT look like she had just seen a dead body for the first time in her life followed by a massive spire of dead bodies like in the pilot.

like these are just not the same expression at all. The latter expression honestly does feel like the expression Uzi would put on before going to talk to J after Everything too. Like she wouldn't be scared, just a bit uncertain of how things are gonna go down

I think you're very correct about the expressions, I thought about that myself while watching it (and one thing MD does so beautifully well is convey emotion). There's no fear on her. She looks kind of pensive, investigative, and determined.

If I were to guess why she's going, I would say maybe she noticed something strange or concerning happening she thinks she might have to go confront J about, or honestly concerned for J in some way that's particularly unsettling? Because despite everything, I truly cannot see Uzi being someone who'd be fine with someone suffering in a disturbing way, even J. You know what I mean? Like her antagonistic relationship with J was always "alright fine I'll kick your ass again" not any sort of wish for her to be tortured. And I feel like something significant is being led up to because we still haven't seen J since the finale.. the vibes are scary imo lol

honestly also wouldnt surprise me if Uzi is also going alongside N and V who wanted to check on J and theyre just off camera to better sell the mystery, which would likely also be why her eyes are purple instead of the gradient too (would kinda immediately tell us this was post canon if we could see them), and shed def wanna hide Cyn if she were going to check on J considering everything.

also we technically have seen J once post-finale in the credits, since shes repairing the pod in the spire all by herself to seemingly try to leave but thats all weve seen of her. I really do hope we get another special post-canon involving J, it'd be SO cool

Stopping point if you find yourself on your phone doomscrolling, procrastinating, or “stuck”

Expert mode: Set a timer for one minute and put down your phone. Do anything else. (Take deep breaths, go get a drink, pick up a book or craft.) If you can do this, aspire to two or five minutes and keep increasing your time away from scrolling. Also of note, ponies and horses are two different things. Ponies are smaller and sturdier, but horses are “more elegant/refined” (according to fashion, anyway).

Star Wars tends to function on a pretty standard “Galaxy of Hats” model where the first example of a species we encounter sets the bar for the rest of their kind. Darth Maul — the Zabraks are all fierce warriors. Jabba the Hutt — the Hutts are all sleazy gangsters, etc.

Which makes it especially funny when you get examples like these where by the standards of their species, you’re not sure which is supposed to be the weird guy.

Hii ^^ Wanna thank you guys for the love on my Steven Universe comic from last month! I’m really glad you enjoy it.

Should I post more stuff here like my sketches and less finished works too? I will if there’s enough incentive, otherwise I will probably forget to post here until I have a larger work to share XD

Btw I’m now working on an ENA Dream BBQ comic so that should be fun ^^

Do you think, that should've given more characters from the main cast time to shine? I really like your show and like all of the characters, but sometimes some of them feel left out. But maybe that's just me, who knows

Yeah I'd agree with that, it's just a lot bigger of an undertaking than I'm sure a lot of people realize when you're the only writer and juggling so many different departments at once. It would have required more episodes, time, and stamina. Something I wasn't exactly graced with, being only Glitch's second creator driven show. I would have needed more writers and co-directors, because writing and directing even just 9 episodes basically killed me.

It's also a miracle I was allowed to make episode 9 as long as it was, because one thing a producer never ever wants to hear is "I'd like to make this longer." There will always be an incentive to cut things down over fleshing things out. Thankfully if I do another one of these, a lot of the kinks will hopefully be worked out from the beginning. Hopefully.

I genuinely thought this was Ragatha saying goodbye. Like they were leaving each other for the last time and the abstraction Pomni saw right after this scene was her.

Thank GOD it wasn’t, but this finale could’ve been a LOT more depressing.
