We often hear that prosperity will "trickle down." But what happens when wealth no longer circulates? I recently came across a quote that made me pause, "There is no such thing as trickle-down economics, only modern-day fiefdoms." Whether or not you agree with that statement, it led me to ask a different question: What happens when wealth stops moving and begins to pool? "The Dammed Economy" is my exploration of the ideas of ownership, opportunity, wealth concentration, and why I think a river may be the best metaphor for understanding our modern economy. This isn't an argument for or against wealth, but more so an exploration of what happens when capital accumulates faster than it circulates, and what that might mean for the rest of us.

Sometimes the opportunity isn't meant to become your life. Sometimes it's meant to show you that you're finally ready for a different one. I recently found myself imagining a future I hadn't previously given myself permission to envision. Although that particular opportunity didn't materialize, something else did. I realized I was willing. That realization changed me far more than the opportunity ever could have. Today's essay is about disappointment, possibility, and why some doors open just long enough to remind us that we are capable of walking through them. ♥

Why Does My Life Feel Paused?

Many of us think people-pleasing only shows up in unhealthy relationships. But sometimes it follows us into the healthy ones, too. Sometimes we stop silencing ourselves out of fear of rejection and start silencing ourselves out of admiration, respect, or the belief that someone else must know better. Hallelujah, She's Healed (Or So I Thought)

"Dating currently feels difficult because women are looking for men that don’t exist yet, and men are looking for women who don’t exist anymore." I read that on Threads recently and it stopped me in my tracks. As I've stepped back into the dating world after my own deep evolution, I realized the truth is much more complex than simple bitterness. The reality of modern dating is that both genders are grieving from opposite sides of the room. Women are grieving the years lost to self-abandonment; men are grieving the loss of a predictable landscape. Neither side is malicious, we are simply caught in the gears of a massive cultural transition, and both sides are struggling in ways that deserve to be seen. That's what my latest post explores.

The canary was a companion of the coal miner. Miners brought canaries into the mines all the way up until 1986. Because canaries were more sensitive to toxic gases, they would succumb first, giving the miners time to escape safely. Our society has its canaries too: the people who are more sensitive to toxic people, environments, and systems. And our canaries are suffering right now. They are exhausted, depleted, anxious, and burning out. If we were as wise as the miners, we would recognize this as a warning — a sign that something in the environment is dangerous. But instead, we keep digging, convincing ourselves we’re fine simply because we haven’t collapsed yet. The canaries are telling a different story. And if the canaries are falling silent, it’s not because something is wrong with the birds. It’s because something is wrong with the cave.
