a bit more context
I'm going to *remembers how many times in my life I didn't tell anyone I was suicidal* you know, I'm not going to, but I honestly think even joking about it is better than never talking about it, and I think people who have dealt with such a difficult thing deserve to be able to joke about our own experiences without getting lectured about some knock-off CBT that's been ground up and shat out of the online pop psychology void, and also you know this format in itself is a suicide joke right it's just euphemistic
I don't understand how cis people obsessed with gender norms think trans people are the weird ones. they're going around believing that your name has to correlate to your genitals. your fashion has to correlate to your genitals. your behaviours have to correlate to your genitals. your hobbies have to correlate to your genitals. who you date has to correlate to your genitals. whether you can put sparkles on your eyelids or not has to correlate to your genitals. and then people like me go "hmm. I might not do that. maybe I'll just do what feels fun and okay instead" and they LOSE their MINDS
can we send up a quick thank you to pdf uploaders, torrent seeders, copy sharers, scanlators, fansubbers, digitizers, paywall dodgers, and various other internet archivers for making niche art and information more accessible in a media landscape where all but the most profitable mainstream are often tossed aside and left to rot
my art got uploaded to e621 and i'm non-binary (lore) but also tagged as male
to be clear, i'm allowed to dispute my art being put on the website, i'm allowed to completely blacklist my art from that website. but i'm not allowed to ask to not be misgendered on the website because of their explicit transphobia policy
The way people on there fucking act when you point any of this out to them is staggering. Like in nearly any other furry community people would give you the fucking death glare for saying shit like this but E621 is such an echo chamber of transphobia that this is literally just the culture there.
This is giving me a debunking itch (against e621 apologists) so here goes
The use of hermaphrodite to refer to people is extremely outdated and offensive and "herm" is so so much worse. And even if it was the scientific convention, that doesn't mean shit. The r-slur, n-slur, and aspurgers are all in the same (sunken) boat
Saying "gynomorph means female form so it's fine" is an etymological fallacy. It's entirely ignoring the way the word is used; it is used to refer to trans fem bodies and only trans fem bodies (specifically women with penises). why is a cis woman is tagged "female" but a trans woman is (essentially) tagged "female shaped"? (This all applies to "andromorph" well)
life pro tip: if you happen to be considering purchasing an LG TV or monitor, you possibly want to pick something else! and if you have an LG monitor that has not been plugged into anything in a while, you might want to leave it that way!
if you already have an LG monitor or TV or intend to buy one, you probably want to watch this video and keep an eye on gamers nexus for updates (or anyone else covering the LG spying situation):
posted july 16 2026
LG is doing some bad things. how bad? well. here are some very brief bullet points. I am not an expert, gamers nexus is, see the video for more information than this:
LG monitors (brand new and years old, cheap and expensive) auto-install LG's own adware-spyware called LG Monitor App onto windows 10 and 11 computers. you plug in an LG monitor for video output and this gets installed automatically. no hitting OK, no confirmation, no toggles, NOTHING.
the auto-installed LG Monitor App auto-grants itself access to your internet connection and ALL computer resources. the LG Monitor App has the ability to collect: geolocation data, device data, personal information, online activity data, contact data, and more!
...and it shows pop-up ads! because fuck you
on some affected versions of windows, auto-installed shitware like the LG Monitor App can be prevented by navigating to gpedit.msc -> computer configuration -> administrative templates -> system -> device installation -> prevent automatic download of applications associated with metadata
...but, if your LG monitor already installed the LG Monitor App, this is like closing the barn door after the horse got out. and that horse has the logs of everything you were doing on your computer! someone stop that fucking horse!!!
unrelated to the LG Monitor App, many LG TV owners are now required to tell all household members and guests that their LG TV is recording and processing ALL nearby voices. or else they may be in violation of local eavesdropping and wiretapping laws. for owning a fucking LG TV.
plus, how many businesses, workplaces, public spaces use LG TVs?
allegedly the microphone spying can be turned off by disabling microphone features, but LG has been caught disregarding opt-out settings before.
LG TVs can record everything that happens on the TV, including the video output of connected devices like phones, computers, gaming consoles, anything that happens on the TV screen.
LG was sued for their spying, and as a result of that spying suit, now shows pop-ups saying oops! they got caught spying and intend to continue spying. thanks for buying LG!
as of when the video was posted, there was no list of every spying LG monitor or TV. but this stuff is getting rolled out to more and more LG devices, including those purchased years ago.
and that is the shortest summary I can make of this situation without just summarizing more of the gamers nexus video.
Update: We are working on a follow-up to the LG story and have some disturbing findings re: LG's products. It will take us a while to parse
⬆️posted july 23 2026
gamers nexus is fairly respected in technology journalism. they fly around the world investigating companies that fuck people over and have pressured major companies to make major changes over the years.
so for gamers nexus to say that this LG spying situation is both unprecedented in how uniquely bad it is in this era of spying, and that it gets even worse than their video where they already say to stop buying and using LG products while recanting every prior recommendation for LG products?
oooooofff
I love Binface so much.
i will go to bat for the fact that most of the queer coded villains you see aren't queer coded but specifically transfeminine coded
i think if you can explain the queer coding as "character displays femininity while being a man/mannish and it's portrayed as humorous or monstrous" what you're dealing with is transmisogyny, not some ephemeral "queer coding"
zephyr backstory time, last post reminded me of some things - in 4th grade when I was 8, apparently my behavior changed enough that my teachers talked to my mom about it and she took me to a therapist for like 2 sessions* and i was given full reign to go to the school counselor whenever I wanted** but truly, honestly, at no point did I have any idea what the fuck anyone was on about. I thought I acted the same as always. Nothing was wrong and I was fine! Why were people worried about me, I wondered, when my mom was clearly the one who wasn't doing well?
Yeah so I'm wondering if that's when I experienced my first major Dissociative Disorder MomentTM. I didn't really recognize that I was plural till high school when my imaginary friend went "hey actually getting put through all these imaginary torture scenarios sucks so much, I'm leaving" and then she literally disappeared. Like I didn't know they could do that LMAO.
But in retrospect so much of getting in trouble in my childhood was getting in trouble for acting different when, to me, I wasn't acting different at all. Getting sent to therapy in 4th grade for (in my POV) literally nothing. Getting accused of being a bitch due to being on my period. Having one bad tournament where I was just kind of out of it and then getting taken out of karate because cLeArLy I didn't care about it anymore. Were those dissociation moments? Maybe! What an interesting thought to close out my workday with. :P
* I dunno what exactly that therapist said about me ofc but I think she said I was pretty much fine. I found this very ironic in retrospect because my experience of the therapy was that I felt like I hadn't really gotten to talk to the therapist much and I had decided that next time I saw her I was gonna open up more. It was like, fully undirected play therapy where I was supposed to just do my own thing and talk about it and I talked about my 'imaginary world' (as I called my daydreaming stuff) a little bit but gave very surface level, bland, adult-appropriate scenarios rather than launching into the whole "okay and here's one of the main characters (my clear self-insert), she's really strong and cool and cares about everyone so so much and she dies horrifically over and over and over trying to save everyone :) [describes getting ripped apart bone by bone] oh and there's this guy who's helping her and he also keeps dying :) oh and these four get tortured by the villain but theyre fine the MC saves them. oh and the villain is the embodiment of an endless inescapable void :) The only thing they can do is hold it off! :)" So yeah the therapist might've been a little more concerned if I was given another session to reach that level of comfort lmfao. Oh well though!!!
** Obviously I did not do this. I was forced to go the 1 time and after that I never went, even though I thought about it pretty often. I had straight As to maintain and how was I supposed to catch up if I just left? Wouldn't I get in trouble? What am I supposed to say when I'm there? Maybe if the counselor said I could come by but that didn't mean I had to talk, that would have helped? Idk. I did not experience any sense of agency over my self, my life, my schedule, my behaviors, any of it, until I was like 17 so. No I did not go to the counselor lmao.
*** Unrelated but 4th grade was also home to such Zephyr Backstory Bangers such as coining 'democraps and republican'ts' with my friend (I have always been a #Hater, yeet) and that time my mom made me look up my English teacher in the phonebook to call her, made me leave the voicemail, and then when I didn't know how to hang up, loudly made fun of me and yelled at me while I sobbed for like. Seriously it had to have been over a minute. I would not be surprised if it was over 3 minutes. It was an agonizingly long time of me standing there begging my mom to tell me how to hang up the phone so we could stop terrorizing my poor teacher. And then. And then. Ha haha. My mom brought it up to my teacher a couple of weeks later, in person, and my teacher was very confused - she hadn't gotten the voicemail. Some random person we found in the phone book got the voicemail. And my mom thought this was so ha ha very funny. Jesus fucking christ. Like I want this to be a funny-in-retrospect story but it just makes me so mad it can't even be that
the more i talk to extended family the more i learn that it was EXTREMELY obvious to all the adults around me as a child that something had gone horribly wrong and i needed professional help, but i guess there's some sort of prime directive thing where you can suggest to the kid's parents that the kid might need help but you can never ever ever let on to the kid that you can tell something is wrong. you just have to hold on to that until the kid becomes an adult who's able to say "so i think i experienced a lot of trauma when i was very little" and then you can say "yes, i know. i didn't know what happened but it was completely unmissable that something had." okay. thank you. that's very validating. but why did you leave me to suffer and keep feeling like there was no other explanation than that i was broken and going insane. would it really have been so bad to sit me down and go "i see you. i can't help much, but i can tell something happened and you're in a lot of pain. you deserve help and support. you're not going insane." or something. i don't know. my internal experience was mostly that i had suddenly become a bad child who couldn't seem to get anything right and was always being yelled at. maybe it would have helped if someone had said something.

And what if rap WAS only about sex, violence, and drugs... what then? Would you be justified in looking down upon it as not being "real" art? What would your justification be? Sex is immoral and taboo? Drugs should never be mentioned outside of D.A.R.E programs? Songs about violence turn children to it? Would you turn that standard to other genres as well? I know you wouldn't, I know you haven't, because it's never really been about the topics explored.
rap is often about politics and punk is often about sex and drugs but tumblr users wouldn't know because they listen to neither
