Every so often, the people who make the news quiz at The New York Times have a little too much fun with the incorrect answers.
Exhibit B. Sure, half of the incorrect ones are serious, but "No Parades?" (Self-contradictory much?) "Queens Only?" (Sounds like a parade in drag.)
Honestly, I'd totally watch a movie where a Predator hunted a T. rex. And I love that two of the incorrect answers throw Disney-owned properties into the mix.
Only one this time, but it still gave me a chuckle.
The answers themselves aren't what's funny this time (except maybe the tank), it's the escalation.
Another one with only one that came off as a joke, but what a joke!
Another one that starts out serious, then says, "Hey, let's throw in a couple of pop culture references."
We really need to bring "23 skidoo" back.
Thirty-six percent of people taking the quiz got this one right; I can only hope that the vast majority of the incorrect guesses weren't the Harry Potter reference.

After Anthony Head died, I started rewatching Buffy the Vampire Slayer. (I say "rewatching," but after I get past S3, EP1, it'll just be "watching," because that was the farthest I'd seen.)
I still say that S1 EP8 "I Robot, You Jane" may be the greatest episode title I've ever seen.

Today, the world's most powerful microscope has photographed in real color the core of a single atom. The nucleus of an atom is like the delicious yolk of a hard boiled quantum egg, containing protons and neutrons (red) as held together by gluons (tan filaments). All known substances are made of atoms with nuclei like the one seen above.
The atom used was a Thulium atom because of its highly photogenic traits, bright coloration, and nice atomic number. According to microscopy professor Minnie Lewker, "Atoms have been photographed before but never in real color. They usually look almost like waves of light and dark instead of real, tangible objects as they are."
The same microscope team was also able to take the first known photograph of an electron:

Everything else aside, you have to admit that this would be the sickest party you’ve ever seen.
If I'm going to have the undead dancing, don't make it disco. Make it:

One thing I don't think I've seen enough of in fictional settings is fictional superstitions. Like, have an alien race who believes it's unlucky to sneeze on your spaceship's control panel. Or a race of nomadic elves who believe that they'll have better luck on a journey if they start off on the left foot, but that they'll have bad luck if they don't take an even number of cats with them.
So, since Tumblr added the feature to let you go through someone's comments, I decided to see what and when my first comment was. Turns out it was on this post, which was posted more than two years after I joined. Now I'm wondering why it took me so long, considering that commenting is my main way of interacting with posts now.
But I'm glad I went through; I didn't look at every single comment, but I did look at enough of them to discover a lot of posts that went in my likes; don't know why I hadn't put them there in the first place.

Again, I feel honored.
Because of how frequently Tumblr server hiccups eat comments on posts when you hit the "submit" button, I've gotten into the habit of copying a comment before I hit the button, just so I can just paste it and try again when the server wakes back up, rather than having to retype it. This has had the side effect of me having to remind myself that this is not necessary on non-Tumblr sites. "Oh, right, DeviantArt (or whatever site) doesn't have that problem."
And now Tumblr felt that it was apparently more important to change the UI than to fix that issue. The first few comments I made after the change posted no problem, so I thought, "Hey, could they have actually fixed it?" But I didn't get overconfident and kept copying comments. My lack of confidence was warranted, as things have gone back to the status quo.
They seem to have finally fixed it, at least for now. I haven't gotten a hiccup in a while.
