✅The Convalmore distillery closed in 1985, with new ownership transferred to William Grant & Sons in 1990. The new owners turned the building into a maturation facility for Glenfiddich and Balvenie and removed the distillation equipment, hence, it's almost certain this distillery will never produce whisky again. The license to sell Convalmore remaining whisky is still in Diageo’s hands and The Convalmore 32 years old is their 4th release in this series. ✅The Glen Elgin Distillery is located in the heart of Speyside. The major part of the whisky production from this distillery is used in the White Horse blended whisky. However, Glen Elgin recently became available as a single malt r The Glen Elgin 18 Year Old is a part of the Diageo’s 17/18 Special Releases collection. It’s actually a blend of two 18-year-olds, One employs a commonly used yeast strain and was aged in refill European oak butts, the other uses Pombe yeast which is often used in rum but rarely in Scotch whisky and aged in ex-bodega sherry casks. ✅The Caol Ila distillery (pronounced “Cull-EE-la”) has been producing whisky on the shores of Islay since 1846. It is the largest distillery, by capacity, on the Scottish island. The vast majority of the whisky produced by Coal Ila goes into blended whiskies, its smoky notes are most commonly encountered in Johnnie Walker Black Label and Johnnie Walker Double Black. The “Caol Ila 18 Years Old Unpeated” has been released as a part of the Diageo 2017/18 Special Releases and is the oldest Unpeated whisky ever produced till date by the distillery. The vast majority of the whisky produced by Teaninich goes into blended whiskies, including Johnnie Walker and Haig Dimple. So while you may have never seen or heard of the brand, chances are you’ve tasted it. ✅The Lagavulin distillery is situated in the south coast of Islay on the shore of the Lagavulin Bay. Lagavulin — anglicization of the Gaelic lag a'mhuilin, meaning "hollow by the mill". The Diageo 2017/18 Special Releases included the 15th release of the Lagavulin 12 years. I always look forward tasting the “Laga” 12, it is only distilled once a year in limited quantities where each year quality and taste vary.
