The real MLB all-stars

 After a one year hiatus of making this list I am coming back with a vengeance in 2015. I have a feeling my list is going to differ greatly, especially in the American League. I understand that the game actually means something (it shouldn’t) but I do not understand how Ned Yost can take as many relievers as he did, especially since they only really work an inning. Relievers deserve to be there, but there should be more starters. Like the last time I made these posts I first put a player from every team (the most deserving), then from there filled out the remaining roster spots. If a player was hurt for a considerable amount of time (Giancarlo Stanton) they were replaced with a player from the same position. And None of this DH bullshit in the American League. Im considering people who spend the most of their time as a DH at a position (Prince Fielder is a 1B, Nelson Cruz is an OF, etc..) And pitchers who pitched on the Sunday were not replaced due to the rosters becoming too crowded at that point. Also Jose Bautista was not replaced. He elected not to play to rest his sore shoulder but he still played on the sunday before the All-star game. Basically players who are not playing to “rest” weren’t replaced on my team. Replaced players are in italics.

A few things to note

1) I ended up taking three rookies on this team. Maikel Franco, Joc Pederson and my most controversial selection Carlos Correa. Even though he has only played for a month I believe Correa has played his way on the team as he has been the best shortstop in the American League since he has been called up. One notable omission from my rookie selections is 3B Kris Bryant from the Chicago Cubs, the biggest name in this years rookie class. 

2) Another controversial selection is RP Andrew Miller from the Yankees. Dellin Betances made the all star team representing the Yankees as a RP himself and although Miller has missed a significant amount of time due to injury he has been unhittable going 18 for 18 in save opportunities and missing bats along the way. Betances has played all year and been exceptional himself but I believe Miller is more deserving of the All Star nod. 

3) In the American League three teams (Tigers, Yankees and Angels) led with four all stars. In the National League the Cardinals and the Pirates led with four all stars as well. 

4) How did my teams compare to the actual all stars. Although players on my teams (Brian Dozier, Hector Santiago) were eventually added to the team as replacements 29 players on my American league roster were all stars and 28 players on my National League roster were all stars. It’s amazing how similar they ended up being.

I know it is controversial and may not make a lot of sense to choose a movie soundtrack with no original songs on it as the best album of 2014. However, the construction of these songs brings back the idea of the mix-tape and is best constructed commercially released album of 2014. It allowed people to dance to Come and Get Your Love by Redbone, rediscover Hooked on a Feeling by Blue Swede, get pumped up to Cherry Bomb by the Runaways and groove to old favourites like I Want You Back by the Jackson 5.

The Born in the 90s team

We are approaching the middle of the current decade. It's the first time I've noticed myself getting. Does it have to do with these young superstar athletes born in the 1990s? And are younger than me making millions? Probably not. But as the new superstars emerge here are the 1990s teams. Starting Rosters plus a few backups. I didn't do football because it's too hard to make an entire team of people born in 90s. I took the liberty of moving some people around. For example there are no everyday first basemen in baseball (and I don't know college ball) so I moved a player most likely to play first there.
