so i know not many will see this, aside from the inactive accounts and porn bots that follow me but i need to rant...

it feels really shitty when you come out to your friends and family and everyone on social media, after working yourself up for weeks and finally feeling good about yourself enough to tell the world who you are, just to get ignored.

the shittiest part is because it’s not a well known sexuality so people just stare at you blankly - even as you explain it to them - and don’t take you seriously.

i’m Aromantic.

the idea of being intimate and in a relationship with another person freaks me out, it always has, and finding out that i wasn’t alone in these feelings and finally putting a face to these feelings, made me feel so much better about myself. i had to tell everyone once i came to terms with it.

my parents tried to sound supportive, but i could tell they didn’t understand - though i explained it to them - and finally working up the courage to tell everyone and my grandma on social media about it i didn’t get one like or comment or anything...

even with a deep explaination into what an Aro was... (though side note i had to explain myself to every single person i had spoken to about it because no one knows what that is, one person even told me i made it up and another person complained about my generation being “special snowflakes” and needing everyone to cater to them but that’s not a fight i was willing to have just then)

so what it all boils down to is that we need more Ace+ representation in media and we need to talk more about the + in LGBT+ it’s more than just

Lesbian, Gay, Bi and Trans

also please stop assuming i’m a straight woman because i’m not a lesbian or bi... there is more this community other than LGBT...

it’s truly heartbreaking that it’s easier to let people assume what they want to than to tell them the truth because they won’t understand anyway...
