To the person who kindly reminded me of my own words,... I'm simply expressing my dissapointment, i do am entitled to an opinion. I'm not complaining about the continuation of the show. For all i care they can (and well probably will) make the live action of Korra. And yes. I do am 3 seconds away from dropping the show and never speak of it again. Season 1, i liked how they managed to merge several episodes of the original series into this new adaptation. I didn't like what they did to Katara and i hated what they did to Azula. but i had hopes that they were going to fix the writing for season 2.

I have watched the first half an hour of the second season.... soooo dissaspointed.

Having a queer character believe he won't find love and proving him right is not good writing.

Having a character grow up in solitary confinement and then ripping her away from the only family she's ever known to live a life of solitude once again is not good writing.

Having a character be in love with his best friend and then just compare it to a high school crush is not good writing.

Having Eleven say that Mike has always been the person who truly understood her after showing us in the previous seasons that he only sees her as a superhero IS NOT GOOD WRITING.

Having two girls be abused by a man with power for the majority of their lives only to leave them dead and alone as a direct consequence of the trauma they suffered IS VILE WRITING

Buffy the vampire slayer & Stranger Things.

A while ago I wrote a post with the parallels between BTVS and Agents of Shield. This time it’s the turn for Stranger Things. I’m mainly going to compare against Buffy season 5, but there’s a bit from other seasons as well. If you’re currently watching Buffy and don’t want spoilers, better not read this post!

- Let’s start with the main character. The first slayer was forced to receive her powers when The Shadowmen gave her “the heart and spirit” of a demon. Eleven received her powers when “papa” gave her mother Henry’s blood. Not literally a demon but close enough. - A girl who is her sister, but at the same time isn’t really her sister and they have a bond through blood. Buffy & Dawn. Eleven and Kali. - A girl who also has powers but isn’t as powerful as her. She likes living by her own rules. Buffy & Faith. Eleven and Kali. - He isn’t her biological father but he is her paternal figure and has even helped with her training. Buffy & Giles. Eleven and Hopper. - A big bad who has two personas. Ben & Glory. Henry and Vecna. - Buffy season 5, we need to rescue Tara from Glory’s mind. Stranger Things S5, we need to rescue Holly from Verna’s mind. - A character that started shy but gained special magical powers. Willow. Will. (Plus they're both homosexual) - Aside from the main character, this person is the only one who managed to cause damage on the big bad. Willow vs Glory. Will vs Vecna. - Glory’s plan collapsed the barrier between worlds bringing demons and monsters into ours. Vecna’s plan is to merge our world with one full of monsters. - The plan to stop Vecna involves using the Radio Tower to reach into the bridge. Glory needed to build a tower to reach into the keyhole to open the gateway into her home world. - Brenner, Kay and all of their staff. Professor Walsh and The Initiative from season 4. - It seems like Eleven is ready to sacrifice herself in order to prevent them from using her blood to create more empowered people. Do I need to write out the equivalent in Buffy? - This last one is kinda weak, but I still feel the Buffyverse was the inspiration. The Abyss & The Hellmouth. Both dark places, home to evil creatures. The Demogorgons & the Turok Han. Visually they are very different but the concept is alike. Both are evil creatures really tough to kill. Same for the Mind Flayer and The First Evil. Both are evil creatures as old as time itself. Both not really corporeal and with desire to mess with our world.

I may edit this to add more after the final episode.

In the General Tab, scroll down to "Smart Features" and UNCHECK THE BOX. It is about halfway down.

ChatGPT uses so much energy that the US is literally reversing course on coal and gas usage to make up for it. In Santa Clara, for example, data centers used 60% of the ENTIRE CITY'S electricity.

ChatGPT uses 1-3 bottles of water for cooling for every query you put into it. This is FRESH WATER, which is evaporated and eventually mostly returns to the ocean, effectively removing a lot of it from our already dwindling fresh water supply on the planet. It also consumes 17 THOUSAND TIMES more electricity than the average American home.

The AI boom wastes so much electricity that we are very immediately risking US cities having to have rolling blackouts just to keep up with the energy demands, as early as NEXT YEAR

Gen AI's water usage is projected to hit 6.6 BILLION meters cubed by 2027

More AI use = more data centers = power drain on local cities = gas, electricity, and water utility prices rise because all of our resources are being funneled into a machine that makes garbage

I had thought twitter was the platform where people expressed more hate. Today I was proven wrong. I guess it has a wider variety, but the things I’ve read today here at tumblr…

Tumblr really shouldn’t allow that kind of speech. One thing is freedom of speech and another whole different thing is promoting the kind of “solutions” that some people are proposing to social problems.

I love seeing other people’s fanart, reading theories about future episodes, etc., but seeing this dark side of social media really makes me want to give up on it.

I remember a tweet from The Divine Miss M. It read something like I’m torn between keeping myself informed and keeping myself sane.
