On a recent trip to @Target, I discovered #TheSwitchWitch ( @switchwitches) — A toy and book set designed for #kids who can't participate in eating all of the #Halloweencandy they collect while #trickortreating. The concept is this: A great story about how The Switch Witch needs candy to be able to fly her broom, and so on Halloween night, kids leave out their candy for her, and she replaces the candy with a toy. I saw this in the news this morning and thought it was pretty cool for #children who have #foodallergies ... The Teal Pumpkin Project encourages people to paint a #pumpkin teal, the color of food #allergy #awareness, to indicate that their home is safe for trick-or-treaters with food allergies and offering non-food treats such as small toys. According to FARE, food allergies affect 1 in every 13 children or roughly two in every classroom. That's a lot of kids who might feel left out of the festivities.
