Hello everyone! My name is Mimi, and I'm a Los Angeles-based polytheistic pagan! I go by "The Heart Electric" here on Tumblr. I am on here to share my spiritual journey, as well as post about things that I like.

Here are some spitfire facts about me!

I was born, raised, and educated in Los Angeles, California, USA.

I am a practicing mutli-pantheon polytheist pagan! I have working "contracts" with two Norse deities (Thor and Tyr), and with three Hellenic deities (Queen Hera, Dionysus, and Poseidon).

Thor is my patron deity, and has been for a rather long time. Frankly, I didn't notice the signs until my friend did a deity confirmation and she said (and I am paraphrasing here): "Dude, Thor has been looking out for you since I was little."

My Big Three: Pisces Sun, Aries Moon, Capricorn Rising

I love anime and musical theatre! They are my special interests. Currently, I am loving One Piece, The Great Comet, Bridgerton (neither anime or musical theatre but the point stands). Feel free to ask more about my interests! I also love to read romance novels, gothic novels, and retellings of mythology.

I am Swedish and Italian!

I post content about femininity, as that is what I work on with Queen Hera. I think femininity is very personal and has no real set definition. If this bothers you, my page may not be for you.

Hey, don't be afraid of things that challenge your faith. Seriously, don't.

Either they'll give you a new perspective on things, or you'll become more secure and confident in your current beliefs. But avoiding the hard questions leaves you in an echo chamber with half-baked ideas and an insecurity in yourself. Step out of your comfort zone so you have room to grow.

A Guide to Working with Storm Gods

Thor

Culture: Norse

God/Goddess of: Thunder, Lightning, Strength, Protection, Fertility, Masculinity, Protector of Humanity

Offerings: Hearty Foods and Stews, A Mjolnir Necklace, Acorns, Oak, Pine, Goat Meat, Rainwater, Rain scented candles, Garlic, Leeks, Onions, Mead and Beer

UPG: Thor is the ultimate hype man, and loves encouraging his followers. He’s also a massive flirt, and is surprisingly ticklish. His presence is strong and warm, and you can feel his love for you in everything you do.

Zeus

Culture: Greek

God/Goddess of: The Sky, Weather, Law, Order, Kingship, Hospitality, Father and King of the Gods

Offerings: Wine, Whiskey, Milk, Tea, Coffee, Bread, Red Meat, Scaled Fish, Fruit, Rain Water, Frankincense, Myrrh, Rain Scented Candles, Oak, Pine and Crowns

UPG: Zeus is a surprisingly kind and fatherly god. He cares deeply for his followers, though can act out at times when angered. I heard an account of a follower who was complaining about there being no rain, so he sent a thunderstorm that lasted so long they got 18 bottles of rainwater out of it. That being said, he is kind and will take care of his followers' needs.

Susanoo

Culture: Japanese

God/Goddess of: The Sea, Storms

Offerings: Rainwater, Chocolate, Crackers, Sea Salt, Noodles and Ramen, Rain scented Candles, Sea water, Fish and Sushi

UPG: Susanoo is a very active god, he’s easily angered and tempestuous. However, he is also very fun to be with. He has a regal presence befitting a god, but he is also disheveled and able to hang out with his followers freely. He is stubborn. As long as you avoid angering him, Susanoo makes good company for any weather or sea witch

Rhiannon

Culture: Welsh

God/Goddess of: Wind, The Moon, Horses, Songbirds, Gates, Horseshoes, Love, Happiness, Beauty and Prosperity

Offerings: Lavender, Soft-sounding Music, A White Candle with the Number 7 carved into it, Horseshoes, White Flowers, Apples, Working with Horses and Dogs, Practicing with Liminal Spaces and Meditation

UPG: She loves to hear her followers sing, and is a very kind and motherly presence. This is strange, but she has the exact same vibes as the song by Fleetwood Mac. Otherworldly, Witchy and Kind. Her sacred day is Monday, and her Sabbat is Beltane. Her feast is on March 1st.

Freyr

Culture: Norse

God/Goddess of: Rain, Sunshine, Fertility, Peace, Kingship, Virility, Harvest

Offerings: Honey, Grains, Gold, Antlers, Phallic Objects, Wheat Bread, Rich and Dark Beers, Pork, Apple, Barley, Nuts and Seeds, Coins, Rain Scented Candles, and Golden Objects

UPG: Freyr really lives up to his title as God of Sunshine. He’s a little bit of a worrywart with his followers, he really doesn’t want them to get hurt, bless his soul. He’s strongly associated with antlered animals, and is very affectionate and kind. Freyr is a very loving god.

Perun

Culture: Slavic

God/Goddess of: The Sky, Storms, Rain, Law, War, Fertility, Oak, Nobility and Warriors

Offerings: Meat, Ale, Mead, Golden Apples, Red and Gold Candles, Rain Scented Candles, Fowl meat (especially Rooster), Wooden Objects made of Oak, Rain Water, Arrows and Arrowheads

UPG: Perun is truly befitting the title of King. He has a very fatherly and stern presence, but never a hateful one. However, Perun does have a fierce rivalry with Veles, so it’s likely best not to mention the trickster god when communicating with him.

Horus

Culture: Egyptian

God/Goddess of: The Sky, Storms, Rulership, The Sun and War

Offerings: Fowl Meat, Brass or Gold Objects, White Feathers, Dark Ale, Water, Bread, Honey, Salt, Grains

UPG: Horus is a princely figure. He is stern and reasonable to a fault, and very patient with his followers. Understanding and kind, Horus is a great patron for any weather witch

Culture: Celtic

God/Goddess of: Thunder and War

Offerings: Wheels, Lightning Imagery, Daggers, Feathers, Baked Goods, Meat, Alcohol, Rain Scented Candles

UPG: A jovial and stern god, Taranis is kind of hard to pin down. He cares for his followers deeply and will protect them with all he has, and is kind when bestowing gifts so long as an offering is returned afterwards.

Calling All Older Pagans: The Conclusion

A week or two ago, I put out a poll that asked older pagans to vote on whether they would join a server aimed at adult pagans. The fantastic, incomparable, and overall wonderful Kris (@xxpaganheartxx) created a server for us!

The Gods Are Around Me

I see Thor in the cloudy Los Angeles mornings. When the air is crisp and the sun isn't peaking out yet. On the morning commute, from the bus windows, I can see the sky. I think of King Zeus, who reigns over the heavens. As the sun begins to show in the sky, I think of Apollo and Ra. I thank them for shining so brightly.

At work, I feel the strength of Tyr. He urges me to continue to strive for the justice and safety of all. I thank Poseidon for standing over me as I work on my computer, as the Earthshaker told me: "This will be difficult, and it will feel like you are barreling towards the storm, but you shall carry on." As we rage to continue our mission, I thank Ares, as we carry on in our fight for justice.

I thank Aphrodite, Freya, and Queen Hera when my morning "I love you!" text comes in from my boyfriend. I thank them, as I know I am loved earthly as I am divinely. As I walk to the bathroom, I look over my body in my work. I learn to love what I see. I thank Frigg, Lilith, and Isis for my womanly figure.

When the work day is done, I sing on my way to the bus stop. I sing in Dionysus' honor. I may sing Hadestown, and I subtly honor King Hades and Queen Persephone. I think of Demeter as I walk by the plants that line the walkway.

Going home, I wonder what attending a PhD program would be like; I pray to Odin and Athena in their infinite wisdom to aid me in acceptances next Spring. When I arrive home and later prepare for bed, I thank the Gods that I have a safe place to rest my head. Hypnos guides me into sleep.

The Gods are all around me. They are all around us.

Calling all Older Pagans!

I don't have much of a following here, but as I browse the community, I find myself wanting to find a place where I can meet fellow Pagans/Witches and talk about our practice.

I went immediately to Discord, and as I searched, I didn't find any servers that really fit my needs. I wanted something with more of an older teenager/adult audience. Not necessarily adult topics, but more of "I have a nine-to-five and I need other Pagans with nine-to-fives to relate to". I wanted somewhere that we can talk about our deities, our practices, maybe even our jobs! I wanted a place dedicated to the older Pagans in the room.

So, I came up with an idea. If enough people voted yes, I would go through the process of creating a public server for people to join. If you'd be interested in moderating a server like this, please DM me!

I'm a big supporter of "the gods love you, regardless of how much you're able to do to worship them", but at the same time, it's difficult to forge a relationship with any deity (or even other people) if you don't allow yourself to be known by them. If you don't have moments of vulnerability, moments of silliness, moments of small joy even, then it's difficult to forge relationships or take them to a deeper level. Loving gods (or even other people) can be a scary thing for some people (hell, it was for me), but if you don't allow your heart to be exposed, even just a little, then you're not going to get back as much as you're hoping to.

Anything that's worth anything in life is going to require some level of risk, as terrifying as that feels sometimes, and in my opinion, having a deeper connection with a deity is one of those things that's worth the risk.

My point isn't that we aren't loved by the gods if we don't do a ritual everyday or pray every hour; my point here is that we cannot deepen our bonds if we aren't willing to dip more than just our toes into our deity relationships. Love your gods, and know that you are loved, but they can't really help you if you won't let them in, you know?
