Ben Affleck in Talks to Co-Write, Direct, and Star in ‘Batman’ Film

Ben Affleck won’t be hanging up the batsuit after Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Suicide Squad, and Justice League. In fact, he’ll create a whole new story for the superhero!

The Wrap reports that Ben is in talks to co-write, direct and star in a solo Batman film, and will work with DC Comics chief creative officer Geoff Johns on the screenplay. A well known writer and developer for DC, Geoff has written some of its best remembered comic book series including Green Lantern, Aquaman, Batman, Justice League, The Flash, and Superman. He also has written TV series superhero transfers Smallville, Arrow, and The Flash, as well as the Supergirl project with Greg Berlanti for CBS.

Plot details of the standalone film are unknown so far, but Ben will be at Comic Con this weekend to promote Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Perhaps he will comment on the news, or tease the plot to fans!

Chloe Grace Moretz will Star in ‘Brain on Fire’ Film Adaptation

Chloe Grace Moretz, who stars in the upcoming The 5th Wave, is set for another adaptation that is sure to make an impact!

Brain on Fire: My Month of Madness is a gripping and emotional memoir about Susannah Cahalan, a young New York Post reporter, and her struggle with a rare and terrifying disease, opening a new window into the fascinating world of brain science. It’s not only a fascinating tale, but brings light to medical research on the autoimmune disease that was greatly affecting her.

Deadline reports that Broad Green Pictures is teaming with Charlize Theron’s Denver & Delilah and Foundation Features to produce and finance Brain On Fire, with Chloe set to play the lead role. Thomas Mann will also star in the film.

Broad Green Pictures’ chief creative officer Daniel Hammond shared his excitement in bringing the film to life:

“We are excited to work with this incredible group of filmmakers and actors to bring Susannah Cahalan’s life story to the big screen. With the help of our partners at Mister Smith, we will be able to share this incredibly moving film with a global audience.”

Principal photography begins July 13 in Vancouver and the film is set for release in 2016.

Elodie Yung will play Elektra in ‘Daredevil’

The second season of Netflix’s Daredevil has already excelled in casting iconic characters, recently adding on Jon Bernthal as The Punisher, and now we have another major casting announcement: Elektra!

Deadline reports French actress Elodie Yung (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, G.I. Joe: Retaliation) will play the mysterious woman from Matt Murdock’s past. She was referenced in the first season, and now Elektra will be formally introduced in season two!

We are impressed with Daredevil‘s casting choices so far. Elodie is a promising and talented actress, and will definitely pull off the exciting and dangerous Elektra!

The second season of Daredevil will arrive on Netflix in 2016.

Our Dream Cast For a ‘Wool’ Movie Adaptation

Hugh Howey’s popular sci-fi novel, Wool is being adapted for the big screen! After getting into a bidding war, 20th Century Fox was lucky enough to nab the rights to the novel in 2012. The Fifth Wave director J Blakeson originally wrote a screenplay for the movie, but it was eventually shelved. The Wrap reported that it’s back in development with Guardians of the Galaxy screenwriter Nicole Perman rewriting the script, and Ridley Scott, Steve Zaillian and Garrett Barsch producing.

Premise

Wool was originally a series of novellas that were later turned into a novel, and is the first book in The Silo Saga. The series takes place in a post-apocalyptic Earth, where humanity is trying its hardest to survive. To do this they live in an underground city called Silo that extends 144 stories beneath Earth’s surface. Inhabitants of the Silo believe that the outside world is unkind and no one is ever allowed to speak of it. If one does, it is considered a major crime that could lead to the person being exiled to the outside. The novel consists of five books with the first one following the Silo’s Sheriff Holston. The next four follow the stories of other characters, Juliette, Jahns and Marnes, while the overall storyline of the series revolves around the mystery in the Silo.

Allison is a character who sets the events of the novel in motion when she asks to leave the Silo and is ultimately exiled prior to the start of Wool. There’s no one else we see playing this part besides Abigail Spencer (Rectify) who has proven that she can be the strong, outspoken type, and still very likable! Dream Cast Your Own Allison >>

It’s expected to choose a Sigourney Weaver type for the role of Juliette, but Rosario Dawson would be perfect for the mechanic turned sheriff. She can play the tough character just as well as a young Sigourney in Alien. Dream Cast Your Own Juliette >>

‘Monopoly’ Movie in the Works

We all grew up with Monopoly: we went to jail, collected $200 as we pass go, and bought more properties than we could handle! Now the classic board game will actually be a film.

Variety reports that Lionsgate and Hasbro are teaming up to produce a Monopoly movie, and Andrew Nicchol (The Truman Show) will write the screenplay. The film will center on a boy from the game’s “modest Baltic Avenue” on a quest to make a fortune.

We assume Rich Uncle Pennybags, aka Mr. Monopoly, will at least make an appearance in the film! Below are our top choices to play the infamous board game mascot.

Steve Buscemi, who played the charismatic and dangerous leader Nucky Thompson on Showtime’s Boardwalk Empire, is our first choice for Mr. Monopoly! Neil Gaiman Writing Multiple Episodes of ‘American Gods’ TV Adaptation

If you’re anticipating the Starz TV series based on the fantasy novel American Gods, we have even more thrilling news for you!

Deadline reports Neil Gaiman, author of the award-winning novel, will be writing several episodes of the series! Bryan Fuller, who will produce, shared the news. “We are cranking away” at scripts for the first two episodes he said, then added “Neil Gaiman is going to be writing episodes of the show.” In case you haven’t read the novel, here’s Deadline’s summary:

The 2001 novel concerns a brewing war between old and new gods, with traditional gods from myth and religions steadily losing believers to deities that reflect more modern concerns, such as love of money, technology, media, celebrity and drugs. The book centers on Shadow Moon, an ex-con hired as a bodyguard by one of those older gods trying to push back against the new gods’ successes.

American Gods was given a straight-to-series order by Starz, and is currently casting Shadow Moon. Hannibal showrunner Bryan Fuller and Kings creator Michael Green co-created the series, and will executive produce with Gaiman.

8 Classic Movies and TV Shows That Need A Reboot

Hollywood loves a good reboot, so it was shocking to us that there are several classic movies and TV shows that they haven’t even tried to remake! After the success of shows like Hawaii Five-0 and Battlestar Galactica, its been proven that remakes can do justice to the original. New and old fans alike have fallen in love with these shows, and the same goes for movies like Ocean’s Eleven and Jurassic World.

Could Hollywood be nervous about attempting to recreate what made the original so special? If that’s the case, then we respect that decision. But if Hollywood was perfect and could always do justice to the original movie or TV series, there are many that we would want to be remade. Some of these shows and films can be modernized, while others need a revamp to reflect the evolving society of the 21st century.

The Most Dangerous Game

This adaptation of a short story by Richard Connell centers on a big game-hunter who decides that animals are no longer a challenge and decides to hunt men instead. The main plot of the story has been used in numerous TV episodes and even referenced in David Fincher‘s Zodiac, but no one has ever remade the movie. Cleopatra

The original starred Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton as Marc Antony. It was a huge budget movie that almost resulted in the studio going bankrupt. Angelina Jolie has been attached to star in a new biopic about her, but the “Sony Hacks” have made it clear that it won’t be happening any time soon.

If a new adaptation of Cleopatra is going to be made, I think it’s time to get the casting ethnically right. There is much debate as to whether or not Cleopatra was black. Though as a descendant of Ptolemy, she was definitely Greek-Macedonian, it is believed that she could have had some African ancestry. Cleopatra was not dark-skinned, but definitely had more color than Taylor and Jolie. A compromise could be finding an actress of mixed race for the role, and Gugu Mbatha-Raw could be amazing as Cleopatra. Dream Cast Cleopatra >>

IF List Exclusive: Interview with ‘Beautiful Disaster’ Author Jamie McGuire

Beautiful Disaster is a New York Times and International bestseller, with more than one million copies sold. The new adult novel is also one of the most popular stories on The IF List, with over 4,800 fans wanting it on the big screen! IF Listers have called the novel “heart-warming” and “spectacular,” and have dream cast almost 700 actors for their favorite characters. It’s obvious that Beautiful Disaster has moved many readers and made an amazing impact, and we were delighted and honored to speak to the author, Jamie McGuire!

Hi Jamie, thanks for interviewing with us! First off, congratulations on the huge success of your Beautiful Disaster and The Maddox Brothers series! How did you become interested in writing, and when did you decide that this was going to become your career?

Thank you! I’ve always written in some form. In childhood, I wrote in diaries and journals, and also drew comic books strips. In high school, I wrote stories with more of a play-like, dialog-only structure, and in my mid-twenties I began to blog. When I turned thirty, my friend encouraged me to write a full-length novel. I didn’t decide it was going to be a career until I hit the New York Times and signed my first book deal, then I quit my radiographer position at the hospital to write full time.

You live on a ranch in Oklahoma, which sounds really cool! How many animals do you have and how much daily upkeep do you have to do around the ranch? Does this setting inspire any of your writing?

I lived on a ranch in Oklahoma last week. This week I live in Steamboat Spring, Colorado. We just moved and the entire family is thrilled. Steamboat is breathtakingly beautiful. Every time I look outside I shake my head because I feel like we’re living in a postcard. We still have our horses, dogs, and a cat, and the kids and my husband care for them. Most of the inspiration for my writing comes from travel. The setting for Beautiful Sacrifice, for example, was inspired by a trip to RomCon in Colorado Springs two years ago.

Tom Holland is the New Spider-Man!

Commenting on the announcement, Tom Rothman, Sony Pictures Group Chairman, said: “For Spidey himself, we saw many terrific young actors, but Tom’s screen tests were special.
