What Would You Do?: A transgender woman is insulted by a man at a diner. This is a really great segment they did where a trans woman, played by a real trans woman, is insulted and ridiculed by a man (played by an actor, of course) while she serves him at a diner. You’d be surprised at how many people butted in to defend her.

“Yeah, Well…I can deal with it.” she shrugged, glancing over at the woman beside her she didn’t know what to say ‘Oh yeah, I killed your son in search of dope that’s why I don’t like you’

Her mind flashed back and it was as if it was happening right then. The noise echoing inside her head, the sharp pain in her stomach-it snapped her back in to the moment ”…I can forgive you for that.” she said quietly.

Amanda’s eyes dropped “I don’t deserve it.” she spoke quiety shaking her head her stomach ached in guilt. “…I’m sorry.” she shook her head. “I’m going to go…” Amanda kept her eyes to the floor as she pushed herself up and off the bed slowly.

“John told me about what you had been through, with your mom and your dad.” She said hesitantly staring at her hands in her lap. “After I had dismissed you at the clinic He…he wanted me to understand why you were the way you were. That the system had failed you, he said that I of all people should be able to understand that after what happened to me.” She finally looked who was stood up by the bed.

”..>What.” Amanda was pissed “John told you about that.” she snapped “Why the fuck would he tell you that, that’s not fair!” she growled zipping her jacket up she pulled back her hair “I’m leaving.” she snapped pulling her bag back onto her shoulders. “That’s bullshit.”

“We had an argument, I told him I thought you were a lost cause. Beyond help. He did it to remind me that nobody is a lost cause. When I met John, if he’d have given up on me and put me down to be a lost cause then God knows where i’d be today. Probably dead. But by the time I had realised all this, it was too late for me to do anything for you.” she shook her head, she still felt guilty about this. “I know what it is like, Amanda. I understand.”

Åmanda shook her head, she was tired, tired of everything, the addict didn’t want to have this conversation with her, “Jill.” She didn’t know what to say, that was personal information she confided in John, something she didn’t want anyone else to know, let alone feel sorry for her “I don’t need your pity.” she growled

No matter how many drugs you take or how many times you cut.” Her tone softened, “The only way to get through it is to talk about it, get it out of your head. It won’t change the fact that it happened but there are people that can help you deal with the fact that it did. Like me.” Jill looked up, there eyes met.

Amanda just rolled her eyes, Grabbing the woman’s elbow and wrist helping her to her feet “News flash, You’re stoned princess.” she chuckled ”Maybe a bit much for your first time, but once it starts to wear off you’ll feel better.” She walked beside her slowly finally arriving to the main part of the building, everything was gone, the table tipped and the lights off, using her phone as a light she took the blonde to her old bedroom, the bed was still intact, but all of Amanda’s personal things had been taken in as evidence. “Here. Lay down.” she helped the woman into the bed, “You won’t need a blanket.”

Jill did not find the situation funny at all, she was desperately trying to piece together the events of the night in her head. She needed to know what had happened. Jill laid upon the mattress the rusting springs creaked underneath her weight.

“Amanda, what do you think John would say if he could see you now?”

Amanda shook her head, Sitting on the bed on the side by the wall, bringing her legs to her chest ”I don’t want to talk about that…” she shook her head guilty, she would be tested again, John would be so ashamed of her, Amanda had no self control anymore, nothing mattered, and she had no reason to live.

“I think he would be upset to see you in pain, to see that you are hurting so much that you are doing this to yourself. He would want to help you, you know he cared about you a lot, Amanda. You meant so much to him” She closed her eyes and tried to get comfortable on the bed. “Then again, as you said I am stoned right now. You probably won’t believe a word I say…but it’s true.”

“I’m fine Jill.” She reassured her with a lie, “Yeah, I have my doubts.” she shook her head; “Now you know how the addicts at the clinic feel, It’s addicting.” she nodded “Thought I would let you know, In a few hours you’re gonna’ feel like complete shit, Well unless you get high again, and I have no money left, So just relax and nod off.”

“I’ve known you for long enough to know when you are lying, Amanda. I can see that you’re in pain. But i’m not going to try and force you to talk to me, you’ll do it in your own time.” She sat up against the wall next to her. “I wish that things could have been different when I had met you. I feel so guilty for the way things turned out” She looked at Amanda, her head had started to clear and she had come past the initial high. “Get high again? I think that this one time is enough. I can’t go through that again. Not now.”
