I love Lilo And Stitch bc even though it makes me sad David just goes and blames what he thinks is a normal dog for making things worse for Nani and Lilo and it’s constantly funny to me
YOU DID THIS
Just so we know just exactly David was dealing with.
It honestly never occurred to me that Stitch could have been mistaken for a French Bulldog by everyone
I really have been just accepting that Lilo’s cover story “Stitch used to be a collie ‘til he got run over” as the story everyone accepted.
sometimes I see people say “did you know pretty dragonflies come from horrifying aquatic monsters with xenomorph jaws?” even though both life stages are ferociously predatory
and the larvae are just dumb lil water cats

While it’s true that she offer some level of communal support to people with HIV/AIDS—which of course was was rare during that time—she still mislead a portion of the community with pseudoscience. (x)
like ... lmao i don’t think we need to call it “support,” i think we can call it profiteering
when yr adhd does the intense Anger thing n u gotta remind yr brain that u dont wanna throw yr phone full force at a wall
gentle reminder to myself and those it may concern that “obsess over it silently, completely frozen while you just fume for six hours” is also not a healthy solution
what do I do then?
in the words of one JJ Bittenbinder, throw yourself off your rhythm!
anxiety and anger are extremely persistent in ADHD because we fixate on that input and devote all our runtime to trying to “fix” it when in reality the only way to fix it is to leave it alone. considering we are diagnosed with Chronic Cannot Leave It Alone Disease, that is Difficult.
when you’re outside one of these loops, take inventory of all the things you do that suck you into devoting all your attention to them. when i was a kid, the way i avoided asthma attacks was i played video games while taking my meds, so i wouldn’t be fixating on the anxiety and making the asthma worse. nowadays, i avoid anger spirals by also playing video games (in my experience turn-based strategy is a hyperfocus superhighway so i use those) so i’m forced to divert resources to do this other thing.
joke’s on you, impotent fury, you can’t kidnap my brain if my brain is somewhere else entirely
STREET SMARTS
Me, at my brain trying to suck me into a spiral of self destructive rage:
The Addams family was, in fact, both magical and supernatural for its depiction of a healthy, loving, supportive, and fun married m/f couple.
This is now officially an Addams family appreciation post
In order to depict such purity and love in a m/f relationship, one must first set the foundation that these people are odd and not the norm. (per media standards)
They cared about their children, their children’s interests, and wanted the kids to always be true to themselves. How peculiar!
Gomez and Morticia never showed negative jealousy towards each other’s past love interests. Even going to far as complimenting them for being special to their true love. How bizarre!
They could forgive almost any character flaw in a friend or relative. The only thing that could not be forgiven was betrayals and pastels. Weird amirite?
Morticia is a woman’s woman. She allies herself with other women instead of competing with them. She even seeks to understand women different from herself and her beliefs. Strange.
Gomez wants Morticia to have whatever Morticia wants. He doesn’t give her permission, he actively supports her and motivates her. Fa-reaky.
I seem to recall once reading a review that said that Gomez and Morticia were the only couple on television in the 1960s whom you could actually imagine producing children.
NYC Data Stories: Allyship
For when people say they’re sick of seeing gay stuff everywhere. Suck it up. 4 years. 4 years. And that’s just on the books, it’s legal. It doesn’t stop shitty attitudes, actions, or straight up violence.
Expand the data to legal protection for the general queer population [LGBTQUIA+etc] from discrimination and it becomes zero years. It’s not just a tiny amount of time for us, it’s a very slim addition to rights which otherwise remain perilous.
Not to mention that this is just the US. There are plenty of places where being gay is still punishable by death and those people may no longer be able to seek refuge from persecution here if the President and his cronies have their way.
Immigration is a gay rights issue.
Immigration is a human rights issue.

The Himba (singular: OmuHimba, plural: OvaHimba) are indigenous peoples with an estimated population of about 50,000 people living in northern Namibia, in the Kunene Region (formerly Kaokoland) and on the other side of the Kunene River in Angola. The OvaHimba are a semi-nomadic, pastoralist people, culturally distinguishable from the Herero people in northern Namibia and southern Angola, and speak OtjiHimba, a variety of Herero, which belongs to the Bantu family within Niger–Congo. The OvaHimba are considered the last (semi-) nomadic people of Namibia.
The Himba often cover themselves with otjize paste, a cosmetic mixture of butterfat and ochre pigment, to cleanse the skin over long periods due to water scarcity and protect themselves from the extremely hot and dry climate of the Kaokoland as well as against mosquito insect bites. The cosmetic mixture, often perfumed with the aromatic resin of the omuzumba shrub, gives their skin and hair plaits a distinctive orange or red-tinge characteristic, as well as texture and style. Otjize is considered foremost a highly desirable aesthetic beauty cosmetic, symbolizing earth’s rich red color and blood the essence of life, and is consistent with the OvaHimba ideal of beauty. The OvaHimba are also accustomed to use wood ash for hair cleansing due to water scarcity.
Hairstyle and jewelry play a significant role among the OvaHimba, it indicates age and social status within their community. An infant or child will generally have his head kept shaven of hair or a small crop of hair on his head crown. This soon is sculptured to one braided hair plait extended to the rear of the head for young boys and young girls have two braided hair plaits extended forward towards the face often parallel to their eyes. This style is called ozondato, the form of wear being determined by the oruzo membership (patrilineal descent group). The style remains during preadolescence until reaching puberty. Some young girls, with exception, may also have one braided hair plait extended forwards, which means they are one of a pair of twins.

Once they reach puberty, OvaHimba girls will have many otjize textured hair plaits, some arranged to veil the girl’s face.
This girl is going through puberty, a fact made plain by her hairstyle, which has been designed to cover her face and help her avoid male attention. The puffs at the bottom are either goat hair or synthetic.
(In daily practice, the hair plaits are often tied together and held parted back from the face.)
This girl’s braids are arranged to reveal her face, indicating that she’s ready to be married.
Women who have been married for about a year, or have had a child, wear an ornate headpiece called the Erembe, sculptured from sheepskin, with many streams of braided hair, coloured and put in shape with otjize paste.
Married women wearing erembe
Unmarried young men continue to wear one braided hair plait extended to the rear of the head. When Himba men marry, they start wearing turbans, which they never take off unless someone in the village dies. After a death, their heads are shaved. Because the turbans are never removed, things can get a little itchy underneath, so men carry pointed arrow-like instruments to scratch it with.
Married OvaHimba men. #s 1 and 3 wear a scratching implement in their turbans.
Widowed men will remove their cap or head-wrap and expose un-braided hair.

Wow this is the first time I’ve seen a culture where men are required to wear a headdress after marriage.
every single person in this post is absolutely stunning
Nnedi Okorafor’s novella trilogy Binti has a Himba main character. Otijze is even a plot point.
i cant even read the news any more and function as a person without being paralyzed by dread. it really feels like the world is going to end in the next decade and im supposed to just have a career and pay taxes
Someone's trying to follow me and my mom home, Jesus Christ this is terrifying
Ok, just pulled into a fire station.
Word of advice, if someone tries to flag you down on a highway, pointing to the back of your car, there isn’t anything wrong. They want to kill you. Never stop for them.
They may try to pin you in a lane on the highway. They won’t let you get ahead of them, they will try to prevent you from getting behind them. Fuck traffic laws. Gun it, throw on your brakes, honk your horn and do not stop. get away from them at all costs. Don’t go home, go to the police or go to a fire station. Explain what happened and have them look over ur car.
Reblog this around. Seems like common sense, but also not something that can happen to everyone.
I was on the I-5 in Washington State. The van was white, with blacked out windows. There was graffiti or something on the right side of the van, but I was too scared to read it.
Everyone please be safe, if you are in the Puyallup or Tacoma area, please be even more careful.
Idk if this is everywhere, but in Texas if you see lights but they don't look like a cop's you can call the police station and have them confirm if that is a cop or not.
If an unmarked cop car is trying to pull you over call 911, explain the situation, and relay that you are going to drive to a public place to pull over. Hell, say you will drive to the nearest police station. It’s vital that you call 911 or dispatch. If you don’t, and it’s a real cop, they might think you are evading arrest or driving drunk. Please stay safe.
I’m not sure about other states, but when I was in drivers ed in western Washington the instructor said that if you’re unsure if it’s a real cop car or not, put on your hazard lights to show the car you notice them, and then do as OP said to make sure the person following you is actually a cop
Oh hazard lights are a great idea!! I wasn’t taught that in drivers ed. I was just taught to call 911 and speak to dispatch
Never just pull over especially at night. Find a well lit public area like a gas station so there are witnesses if a police or fire station is unavailable
Remember that Harley Quinn is both
Bisexual and Jewish
CAN SOMEONE FIND WHERE IT'S STATED SHE IS JEWISH?! I NEED THAT!
And a personally fav
Fun fact: Harley was originally a one-off character/pseudo-walk on role that Paul Dini made for his friend Arleen Sorkin (Harley's original VA). Harley is loosely based on Arleen, including her being Jewish. So this isn't something that was added later by another writer, but rather an aspect of her that was part of her character since day one.
Not that it would make her any less Jewish if it was added later, of course, but I think it's important to know how it was always part of her character, especially since a lot of folks don't seem to realize she's Jewish at all, let alone that she was from inception.
fyi
Gender reveal parties, and big planned reveals, literally were not a thing ten, fifteen years ago. Don’t let anyone pull that “it’s a tradition!” crap on you, youngsters. They’re LYING. People would either get the ultrasound or not to find out about the genitals, and tell people or not. That was that.
The fuss over “revealing” a baby’s gender in utero stinks of pushback against the shift toward a more nuanced understanding of gender. I mean yeah part of it is social media, and trends catching on, but don’t think for a minute this isn’t part of some regressive attitudes creeping into the mainstream with a cute (blue or pink) bow on it.
Even the woman who helped popularize gender reveal parties is like…slow your roll, fam.
It's just another reason to have a party to ask for free stuff anyways. :P
Just say you’re a trash father and go. Maria deserves better
He really said he sits there and stare when shes cooking and cleaning like he cant get off his lazy ass and help
One of the most useful myths to supporting rape culture - I think - is the notion that men are simply confused about what consent means. Mainstream feminism has spent so much time finding different ways to explain consent, giving endless examples on what a “no” can look like and what doesn’t constitute consent but like. It’s all so ridiculous because it’s operating on the basis that it’s difficult to figure out if your partner is consenting. Which it’s not. And then rapists use the definitions of consent and the whole convo around consent to manipulate circumstances where the issue isn’t that they raped someone the issue is that it “wasn’t clear” that consent wasn’t given.
We have to stop infantilising men especially like I promise you your boyfriend can tell if you aren’t into the sex. It’s whether he cares or not. The guy at the club trying to fondle you knows you don’t like it. He doesn’t care.
I’m SO tired of the be all end all convo about rape being on consent. Its not a difficult concept to grasp and a lack of understanding consent is not why rape occurs.
It's a very convenient distraction from the issue of men not caring about women's boundaries imo. Like it's easier to say "well we need to teach young boys consent for when they're older" and ignore the fact that these boys have already been taught that no one else's feelings matter more than their own, especially women's.
Its crazy to me that every toddler is supposed to magically grasp the elusive concept of personal space... but we cant expect men to know when it's not ok to touch someone? A 3 year old understands this concept.
