just some reminders about Taako in canon:
He is not overly sexual or flirtatious.
Whether or not Taako flirts with NPCs is always probably gonna be debated, but i assert that he does not
Most of his interactions with NPCs are attempts to keep them at a distance (click here for my analysis of Taakoâs speech on this topic)
He canonically flirts with one person, and ends up in a long-term partnership with him very quickly.
So yeah, he definitely flirts with Kravitz and is romantically interested in him, but itâs made clear repeatedly that this is unusual for Taako.
When asked if their meeting was for business or pleasure, Taako tells him âitâs been a while out hereâ (implying he hasnât been romantically interested in/engaged with anyone in that way for a long time)
Itâs also repeatedly stated that Taako feels an unusual and deep connection with Kravitz which is why he flirts in the first place.
He isnât high maintenance.
Heâs âpretty chillâ about where he sleeps when they join the Bureau and âfalls asleep wherever, on the first bed he touches.â
He hates physical activity, especially if thereâs someone stronger to do the work for him, but it seems to stem more laziness than from being high maintenance.
He repeatedly chooses relatively conservative things to wear.
Given the chance to wear a fun costume to a carnival, he chooses to dress like a TV judge (and mentioned it was the only costume he owns)
He sleeps in footie pajamas / a sleep sack
He wears a skirt once, when itâs environmentally appropriate for him to do so. Itâs a âflirtyâ length but thatâs literally the only time Taako mentions wearing something revealing.
He chooses to wear both an IPRE jacket AND robe (eccentric, but not in any way revealing)
He is very private about his personal life, especially his sex/dating life.
He feels itâs âno one elseâs fucking businessâ that he goes on a date with Kravitz.
He doesnât talk to Magnus or Merle about Kravitz until Ep 68 and only after itâs established theyâre in a serious relationship.
He hates being objectified.
He gets mad at Magnus for treating him like a piece of meat during the Suffering Game.
On that note, he walks the runway in Wonderland begrudgingly, and although he knows he does well, he doesnât enjoy being on display like that.
And finally, he loves spectacle above everything else.
This is what attracts him to Edward and Lydia in Wonderland: the show theyâre putting on.
Itâs what attracts him to magic-use in the first place (post-Stolen Century, he learned magic to make his cooking show better)
So yeah, maybe fashion is part of that spectacle for Taako, but all Iâm saying is thatâs assumed, not canon. Heâs known to dress conservatively and also known to be drawn to spectacle in different ways unrelated to fashion.
what Iâm getting at here is that Taako is multidimensional! fuck! heâs known to be conservative, shy, socially awkward and inhibited. heâs known to deflect, disengage and avoid tension, even good tension. he thinks a lot about his own appearance, but heâs often in his head about it. heâs a fully realized creation and we love him.
