My List of Little Everyday Things that make me happy

-finding that cold spot in the bed -noticing I still have 5 more minutes to sleep -putting on socks -matching my bra and underwear -the fresh air in the morning -my puppy tapping me with her paw to wake me up -eating a bagel -opening a jar of peanut butter -the “before” and “after” look from brushing my hair -putting on lotion -walking to work with my dad -hot chocolate -Getting a text from a friend -when someone at the office says “good morning” -dancing to the radio -curling up in a blanket -taking off my bra -taking a hot shower -drinking a glass of water -a hug

these are just little everyday things. If you’re ever having a bad day, make your own list. Or make a list now and go back and look at it on a bad day. There are little things that happen everyday, and they make life worth living. Remember that.

When I was little I had an amazing science teacher. One day she could tell the class seemed pretty down (it was finals) and she stopped teaching us and told us to make a list of all the little things that make us happy, like putting on clothes right from the dryer, or new socks. Getting wrapped up in a blanket... stuff like that. Just little things that happen everyday but that just make you happy. And she told us to make them super simple, and then everyday just to look at that list, and if even one thing on that list had happened, then it was already a good day. Every time I'm upset I do that. I look at old lists, or I make a new one of every little tiny thing that has made me happy. It makes you realize how good you have it; and how happiness can be found anytime.
