First of all: I love you, you are the wind beneath my wings, did you ever knooooow that you’re my heeeeeeroooes <3
Secondly: I’m going to try to be better about replying to comments! To make this task remotely possible, I’m gonna limit myself to comments left in the last couple months. If you left a comment on a fic of mine before that, please know that I still love and cherish you ardently, but I am one mortal person and my ao3 inbox has like 800+ messages in it. The spirit is willing but the wrist tendons are weak.
Conversely, if you get a reply to a comment you left months ago, hope that’s cool!

Here’s a sneak peak of “Untitled Xena/Good Omens Crossover That I’m Going To Finally Finish, Finally”!
Good and Evil, in their very nature, are omnipresent. Temptation abounds on all sides to afflict the faithful, and grace imbues every particle of God’s Creation; but individual angels and demons are mostly limited to mortal bodies while in the mortal sphere.
This made it difficult for one angel and one demon – the total complement for Earth, then and now – to keep track of the state of the entire world. It was easy for important things, even momentous firmament-shaking things, to go unnoticed. There was simply too much to do.
At the time this history begins, neither Crowley nor Aziraphale had been in or around Greece for a few decades. Aziraphle had been spending a lot of time in remote deserts, practicing a bit of astronomy and collecting some interesting scrolls. Crowley had mostly been amusing himself by eating hearts in what would become Tenochtitlan. The Roman Empire was of some professional interest to both of them, though not as much as it would be a few centuries hence, when its emperor would swear allegiance to the ideals of a long-dead Jewish peasant, so they weren’t bothering to keep too close an eye on it.
The world was wide, and so new that many parts of it were still, in a manner of speaking, waiting to be unwrapped; it held all kinds of fascinating little taverns, charming vistas, and plants that did interesting things to the human senses when brewed, burned, or tasted. It would have been quite enough to keep whole celestial battalions busy, let alone one angel and one demon.
So it was unbeknownst to the earthly representatives of the great Cosmic Forces that two women were wandering around the Mediterranean, ending wars and redeeming souls, and leaving behind a rather impressive body count in the process.
Much later, when Aziraphale got the full story, he would take the entire thing as both an enormously validating sign of Creation’s essential goodness, and a reproach to him for shirking his duty: if you’d been there doing your job, the humans wouldn’t have had to do it for you.
Crowley would also take it as a reproach, though for different reasons. Mostly he would regret missing out on what were, according to report, some absolutely wild wars and betrayals in the first half of Xena’s career. Learning about her exploits would go a long way towards convincing him that humans are good enough at evil all on their own, and a demon could live quite comfortably in the world if he kept his head down and accepted whatever accolades Below chose to give him. After all, as long as the dead and wounded were strewn in putrid rows on the battlefields and the weeping widows were rending their clothing in the streets, it didn’t really matter who was actually behind what wicked deed, did it?
But all of that would come later, after the dust settled and they’d had a chance to compare notes. All they knew at the time was that Creation had seemed to be going their way, until everything suddenly went to –
Well, where everything went was a matter of debate. But it went there in a handbasket.
