One funny thing about the new Batman run is Batman being like “hey hallucination Alfred? Why didn’t you tell me about your great niece?” And the Alfred that I cannot stress enough is a figment of his imagination is like “well master Bruce, it was written in my will, which you have not read” and Bruce is then like “what’s this mysterious society she’s a part of?” And the Alfred, that is not real and does not know what real Alfred did, is like “that’s in the will as well” and Bruce. Still does not check that will

please look through the hiroshima peace memorial museum's august 6 exhibition and the stories of victims and survivors. today, august 6, is the 80th anniversary of the bombing of hiroshima, and saturday is the 80th anniversary of the bombing of nagasaki. please consider these events not only as a series of numbers or even a single day in world history but as the living hell they created for hundred of thousands of people. i realize a lot of people in the world probably don't know as much about the actual circumstances experienced by the people of hiroshima and nagasaki, as well as the indigenous people (downwinders and marshallese) affected by nuclear arms testing by the us, so instead of getting any more angry about how people talk about it (and how they dont talk about it) i just want to share. the images in those links are hard to look at but it's important, if you're in a safe place, please take the time to sit with them and what they say to you, it would mean a lot to me. all of the peace museum's permanent exhibitions are accessible for free online, i strongly recommend exploring them. & free palestine
today is the 81st anniversary of the bombing of hiroshima. august 9 is the 81st anniversary of the bombing of nagasaki. please take some time to remember the lives that were destroyed in these senseless attacks. it's also important to remember that there is no limit to what the united states is willing to do to any people it considers an obstacle to its imperial interest and there is no limit to what it will say in attempt to justify these atrocities.
listen. i like bugs. they're cool and interesting and important to the environment and we can learn a lot from them science-wise. but. but what. the. fuck. is THAT

That's just a little woman? And another little woman and her carrot?
She's also legally protected because her species is endangered :C
(First one is a king cricket/wetapunga/giant weta, Deinacrida heteracantha, not positive on exact species on the carrot-eater, but obviously another giant weta)
What people think wētā are: Terrifying creepy spikey death bugs that will bite your fingers off
What wētā actually are: Big, dumb, slow mice in a Halloween costume

In a lot of northern Indian Buddhist art, Hercules is depicted as the Buddha’s bodyguard.
This tradition of depicting Hercules as Buddha’s bodyguard started in the Greco-Bactrian kingdom of Gandhara, a part of Northern India conquered by Alexander the Great. This is important because Gandhara just happens to be the place Buddhism spread to the far east (it’s “the west” in the famous Chinese novel Journey to the West).
Hercules acquired a scary, bestial mien and thunderbolt swords in Asia via association with Buddhist guardian monsters, the Vajrapani, who had the traditional job of protecting the Buddha. Hercules and the Vajrapani were confused with each other and traits of one rubbed off on the other. This slowly transformed him into a thunderer all the way to Japan and Vietnam.
So in essence, these Buddhist temple guard statues found as far away as Vietnam and Japan started as statues of Hercules. That’s why the original illustration is so fascinating to me; depicting Hercules as monster-like and fierce-faced with a double-weapon.
I made an art/anatomy tutorial about birds! I hope people will find it helpful!
After school care pulled me aside about my child dropping an f-bomb “without remorse” and I put on my concerned face and nodded a bunch.
Apparently he was building something with a younger kid “who really looks up to him and is just starting to make friends” and said “Hey, you’re really fucking good at this.” which is, in my estimation, really a parenting victory.
I absolutely failed at doing this:
Victor Frankenstein after achieving the impossible and building a fucking person from scraps of the dead: Oh god, ew, ew it's ugly! Yucky! Yucky! Gross! Ew! Ew! Yucky! Yucky! Gross! Ew!
