Anne is extremely sensitive and often easily hurt by Sarah’s blunt comments (telling her she looks like a badger and doesn’t want to embarrass herself with a foreign ambassador), which is why she latches onto Abigail’s kindness. She eagerly introduces her to her bunnies, and tells her about how they represent her seventeen lost children. She continues to keep them, despite Sarah telling her that they are “morbid,” and wants her guests to “greet them” whenever they enter the room. Since she loathes conflict so much, she is rather easily influenced and badgered by Sarah into compliance with her wishes – but as the film goes on, she becomes more stubborn about having her own way, and asserting her rights as the queen. Her low Te shows in how compliant she is with allowing Sarah to “take care” of all the court policies, how oblivious she is to how others are draining the royal treasury (since she never looks at the books herself), and how she can be assertive and rude whenever she’s upset.
Perceiving Functional Axis:
Extroverted Intuition (Ne) / Introverted Sensing (Si)
She is something of a dreamer and naïve. Impressionable, she believes anything anyone else tells her, and is more preoccupied with her thoughts than attending to affairs of state. Anne spends most of the film in a Si loop, where she’s preoccupied with her physical aches and pains, her ongoing battle with gout, her long-term relationships, and mourning her dead children. Toward the end of the film, she re-awakens her Ne and starts taking a big picture interest in ruling her kingdom. She is also, in some instances, aware of when Abigail is manipulating her, and also aware of Sarah’s motives.

Anne has far less interest in ruling than in having a quiet, pleasant life full of entertainments, good food, pleasurable companions, and quiet. But she is no fool. She does sense what’s going on between Sarah and Abigail, and plays them off one another for her own amusement.

Emotional, passionate, and melancholy, Anne finds ways to express her displeasure, she feels instant jealousy when Sarah dances with someone else (even in a platonic way), and she focuses largely on what is missing in her life – her lost children. She immortalizes them through her pets. She can complain about her feelings and expect others to cater to them, showing a tendency for drama. Anne pushes people away, then pulls them in close, then pushes them away and makes them see their place, in the habitual “tug of war” internal conflict of being a 4. Her 3 wing makes her showy and care about her status; she becomes more assertive and authoritative once Sarah has gone. Her 6 is anxious, full of self-doubt and distrustful of others, but too trusting of Sarah. Her 9 hates conflict and capitulates to pressure easily.
