The key to writing good fanfiction is to harbor a deeply humiliating desire, and the trick there is that even pretty basic and societally-accepted desires like “being held” and “being wanted” CAN and WILL be humiliating if they’re intense enough. Become so estranged from human connection that the idea of someone playing with your hair fills you with yearning so deep you feel like you’re going to throw up and you will write some banger fanfiction. It might have some other consequences too but idrk about that.

Very funny example of writing advice that is very specific to its medium getting overapplied outside its scope. Can you imagine how awful set design would be if people tried to apply this to movies. 60 minute post credits scene in the Matrix where Neo has to fire every gun that appears in the "lots of guns" scene

i keep seeing the “talia twisted jason’s mind” take, so, reminder that talia saved jason’s life—literally, not just by restoring his mind—because if she hadn’t taken him from the streets when she did (~2 years after he died), the clench would have almost certainly killed him during the outbreak in gotham a couple of months later, and if not the clench, then the quake would’ve 100% done him in.

jason was a severely brain damaged and dissociated teenager on the streets with no shelter, supervision, or support. he’d be dead if she hadn’t taken him!!! no talia did not manipulate him into hating bruce; no jason does not hate her. she did a good thing and gave that little boy a life to live. quit villainizing her for that just to prop up your favorite white boys!!!
