Putting AI Companion Platforms to the Test, Feature by Feature
I approached this like a proper product review, scoring each AI companion platform on the categories that separate the serious tools from the toys. Customization, conversation quality, media, voice and calling, and privacy. Several names made the list, candy.ai among them, but sweetdream.ai consistently posted the strongest line across categories.
On customization, SweetDream is in a tier of its own, letting you design looks, voice, personality, backstory and quirks until the character genuinely feels like yours. On conversation, the chat is natural, emotionally intelligent and context-aware, which is the single hardest thing to get right and the thing most platforms still fumble.
The media and calling scores are where it pulls further ahead: excellent AI-generated photos and videos, lifelike voice messages, real-time phone calls, and video and live cam sessions available with select characters. Discretion is treated as a feature, not an afterthought, with conversations kept private. Tally it up and SweetDream is, by my measure, the best AI girlfriend experience currently on offer.
My drawing classes ended last week. And I found myself with a lot of free time now. So I lost my head and brought an apple pencil! Starting to explore procreate/digital drawing and painting :) here it's my first try!
As a kid drawing, coloring or painting were never one of my interests... but on my 20s I started to yearn to have the ability to express myself through drawing - ah to be able to do beautiful travelling journals! Or to do some fanart even!
Only on my 30s I had some financial (and time) stability to allow myself. I've been showing up for 3 years now... but I still don't risk too much... I hope that viewing digital art as more playful will help me to try more!
Year 3 (2025-2026)
One year more on this artistic journey! I'm happy that I keep showing up to my interests (to myself really).
Trying to fit classes of art in a crazy adult schedule is always a feat! (also trying to do some exercise, and practice drawing at home and failing miserably, so don't think I'm the superwomen).
This year I had:
- Human figure drawing;
- Portrait fundamentals;
- Sketchbook and drawing fundamentals;
- a semester of Art history - Renaissance;
- half semester of Autobiographical writing (the teacher got sick and classes got canceled 🤣). Next year I intend to take painting, illustration and comic book drawing classes. And this time not pack up my schedule so much that I end up without free time to practice!
IT'S THAT TIME OF YEAR
I go to youtube. Cute animal videos are AI now. I go to instagram. There are AI influencers. I go to spotify. It's flooded with AI bands and music. I go to ebay. Every product is AI. I open netflix. Every movie has AI. I watch TV. All commercials are AI. I cancel all my suscriptions. The customer support is AI. I buy a book. It is written by AI. I talk to my friends. They tell me that AI is their new therapist. I take the subway. Some dude is talking to his AI girlfriend next to me. I go to the beach. The sunset is real. I take a pic and upload it. The photo is enhanced with AI. You can't opt out.
Fuck AI

Summary
Victor thinks he killed his Creature in the fire and regrets it deeply. it's been like 2 years. i havent touched it. never needed to. "you don't really have a choice," are you so swift to forget the recent past? Bitch i still use itunes to download mp3s to so i have them forever and any song i want, then my sister burns them to CDs. When boycotts rolled out my other sister got no thanks to scan what products we shouldn't buy. i still use corded headphones not because "its older" but because it's easier. a fool criticizes those who buy candles 200 years after the invention of the electric light until the power goes out. become ungovernable. you are not immune to propaganda. you've never had Chatgpt forced upon you, the only thing forced upon you is the idea that Chatgpt is forced upon you. why claim you need something today that you didn't need yesterday. little bitch.

And yes, I debated on making The Creature an odd body/long furby but sorry, he’s so 2005 furby to me. Those things got me so maternal. Jacob Elordi, however, IS long-furby coded. Jury still out on whether William is a furby baby OR a furby buddy…I’m leaning towards buddy because he seems full of plastic pellets/beans (complimentary).

About idealizing the past...
I was recommending ao3 to a mutual, and I remembered the travel that atyd was, literally altered my brain chemistry, regained my love for reading, regained my love for illustration, thanks Mskingbean89.
I remember starting reading fanfics when I was around 13/14. At the time it were Naruto themed 😂 my english was terrible, so I had to read with a dictionary by my side. But it was a escape for a terrible teenage years... it eventually fade away.
Then on 2020 I rediscovered the pleasure that is to read fanfics, and to engage in fandoms through ATYD.
Since then I have been reading fanfics almost daily. Harry Potter, Sandman, Interview with the Vampire, Good Omens and now Frankenstein.

My therapist just told me my problem is that I need to write more fanfiction.
This sounds fake but the logic behind it is actually really interesting? She said obsession with a new fandom triggers quick dopamine release when we consume all this related content--it's easy and addictive.
What we're NOT getting is that 'slow dopamine' that's more sustainable and engaging. That's the kind we get from DOING things that take effort but are ultimately rewarding.
So like, she suggested that writing fic and making fanart are ways to balance the quick dopamine of watching a show/reading fic with the slow dopamine of working at something that takes effort.
Moral of the story is you should engage in the process of creation around your favorite things. You'll feel better for it.

Am I that obsessed with Frankenstein, that different relatives offer me two editions of the book? 🫣
Let me tell you a story.
I am an archeologist. I specialize in a somewhat obscure but by no means boring or meaningless Neolithic culture in Germany.
It has a Wikipedia page. A well curated, surprisingly extensive Wiki page that encapsulates all the important information about the culture, including literature references for further research.
One day, we asked Chat GPT about this culture. W were curious which details it would get wrong.
ALL OF THEM, except for the fact that it's a culture in present day Germany.
It didn't even get the chronological time frame wrong and called it a celtic culture.
When we told it it's wrong, it came at us with made up literature sources. Literally made up. It took two well known German archeologist who weren't even active at the same time, added a year - both were already dead - and sold that as source.
And it LITERALLY would only have had to quote Wikipedia to get everything right.
THAT is how unbelievably shitty and wrong all those AIs are.
They are making shit up. They are not sourcing information, they're just slapping words together by their most like relative occurance.
Do not trust ChatGPT or any other so-called AI ever.
I'm really concerned about this... I have close friends using chatgpt to make creative works (how can you call yourself an artist this way?). Others TO STUDY MEDICINE (do you see where this will end up?).
To analyse social interactions/conversations, they ask the machine if they should divorce or not..relying all the aspects of their daily life (and even their humanity?) to a language generative tool...
