i love that we got to see lestat’s love for claudia this season he wrote a song for her something he only seems to do for those he loves dearly. and he knows her so well, better than louis perhaps even though louis seems like the “better parent” at a glance.

often i find that media depicting abuse doesn’t show the love that the abuser has for their victim (the opposite is more common) but its part of the dynamic and often times the most painful aspect of the trauma. how can they love me and hurt at? why would they hurt me if they love me? the two should not be able to coexist and yet they do.

i think that’s why it’s a lot easier to imagine that abusers don’t love their victims, or don’t truly know them well at all. it’s a reaction that we have and it is true at times. lestat didn’t know claudia completely he was blinded by the power he had over her and recreating his childhood dynamics.

but he does love her and that’s the worst part. having to reconcile the way that lestat treated her with his genuine feelings of remorse and guilt while knowing that he didn’t know how to love her the right way.

I do not think the goal of the beheadings was to kill either Lestat or Louis; I think its to delay them. At this point, Armand/Daniel are not aware of Louis' opposition to Lestat's performance and Armand is looking to prevent Armageddon. I truly dont think they would go straight for beheadings if the goal is to kill them.

And all four of them have been distinctly different. Regina-pretending-as-Claudia is different than s2 Claudia. Lestat's haunting during Stained Glass Eyes is not the same as Claudia's actual spirit.

It's a genuinely incredible performance and she deserves her flowers for it.

the concept of armand picking up young daniel, passed out and completely fucked up, taking him to a random motel and sitting at the foot of the bed watching him sleep the whole night. god knows how many times he did that. probably hundreds of hours spent in dingy motels just watching him sleep in complete silence.

does anyone remember the amc show interview with the vampire? one of the greatest things television gave us in its era. heartbreaking that it ended after two seasons when those characters were so beautifully crafted. i really wish we could’ve had more.
