I don't think anyone has to like Suvi but I am very confused when they ask why she's still defending the Citadel from the threat of war even after the Identify spell.
Suvi's entire family lives there guys. All of them, not just Steel or the Wizard Council she may be suspicious of re: the geas but also Sly, her apprentice Yulia, Steel's husband Sonder and their kids (her siblings), Hana, Hana's dad and evey friend she has ever made outside of Eursolon and Ame.
I don't think the Witches and the armies of Rhuv are going to make much of a distinction between Sonder, Yulia and Steel if their stated goal is to burn the Citadel to the ground.
I understand that in this story, and by Suvi specifically, 'The Citadel' is often referring to the wizard military of the Empire but it's also a physical place with non combatants living there, which has currently deployed a lot of it's actual combatants elsewhere.
And I think it's fine if that's not your priority, or if you think the Citadel as a political entity is reaping what it sowed but again - everyone else Suvi loves is physically there and they will absolutely be caught in a war.
And in fairness to people asking this, Suvi is arguing about the culpability of the political!Citadel but that culpability also the reason the vote for war is happening.
And unfortunately there is no way to go to war with only the political/military structure of the Citadel and leave the rest of it alone because the Wizard's knowledge is being treated as part of the threat here!
Shakaijin Yuri Light Novel 'Did You Think My Yuri Was a Sales Pitch?' License in English
On Saturday, at Anime NYC 2024, Yen Press announced that it has licensed Neru Asakura's Yuri light novel Did You Think My Yuri Was a Sales Pitch? (Watashi no Yuri mo, Eigyou da to Omotta?). The single-volume is illustrated by Chigusa Minori (Shino to Ren).
Yen Press describes the light novel:
Suzune Senmiya, a young voice actress, has been struggling for six months to get over the retirement of her favorite idol, Karin Kanezuki. One day, Karin shows up as a new voice actress in Suzuneās agency! While Suzune tries to play it cool and keep her distance, Karin aggressively closes the gap between them. And as Suzune starts to see unexpected sides of Karin, she begins to perceive her not just as an idol but as a woman.āÆ
I figured it out.
The reason why I love Suvi so so so much, and why she is so compelling for me, is that as long as I've been alive I've wanted simply to Belong.
And I see that reflected in Suvi, she's just a young woman who found a place where she slots in, a place that has only ever provided her safety and purpose, and she will fight tooth and nail to protect it.
Are her true friends important? Absolutely.
But so is her family. And when someone who wants to belong has their family threatened what else could you do but go into survival mode?
When you see people just like you killed in the hundreds at Port Talon and no one but people like you seem to care- what else can you do but burrow deeper into that sense of belonging. If you don't stand up for your home no one will.
The Witch of the World's heart doesn't want your family slaughtered, but she has asked you to abandon them.
You can't. You won't.
Because you belong. Because you're them, and they're you. Because of community, and justice, and Love. Love. Love.
I feel like a lot of the conversations surrounding the Citadel and the Coven of Elder' vote echoes conversations I've had in my personal life about revolution, specifically as a Black Woman and a leftist.
Especially when Suvi makes the very poignant point that litterally no one has presented any evidence that the Citadel has had anything to do with Naram's imprisonment- that isn't to say that they didn't. It's just that a wizard from the 'we hate the citadel' faction rolled up to Ice Peeking Tom and her girl gang of very bad Not Good motherfuckers and said that the citadel was doing something bad.
And everyone believed them, not because they were compelling or presented evidence, but because they all already wanted to destroy the citadel. Except (maybe) Ame.
So to Suvi, who doesn't want her friends and family to be brutally murdered in a sneak attack it looks like everyone is just deciding that a bunch of innocent people can and should be murdered because... wizards bad? Maybe?
And that feels like a lot of conversations I have- because yes, revolutionary actions are nessecary, but what's more important that revolution is the community that we must try to preserve through whatever crusade we're fighting.
Witch stans hate fascism, but love a small number of people wielding tremendous power without even the pretense of accountability.
In exchange for power you agreed to give the fae queen your name. Due to the vague wording of the deal you managed to get her into a marriage contract, which would give her the right to use your last name as her own. Now you have both magic and a 10/10 wife.

When I drew this comic I wasn't really happy with it but the lovely responses I'd gotten from transfems on this website made it all the worthwhile. Now I'm checking the notes on this post and I can't find any of those responses because I assume the blogs of those comments have being DELETED. WHAT THE FUCK TUMBLR
We'll just fix that by adding new ones that say:
You're cute.
"How do you write such realistic dialogue-" I TALK TO MYSELF. I TALK TO MYSELF AND I PRETEND I AM THE ONE SAYING THE LINE. LIKE SANITY IS SLOWLY SLIPPING FROM BETWEEN MY FINGERS WITH EVERY MEASLY WORD THEY TYPE OUT. THAT IS HOW.

I GOT A FUCKING RAISE THE POTATO WORKED WTF
This potato works. Every. Fucking. Time.
Then bring me luck
the day after I posted this last time I was notified that I was selected for a really cool mentorship gig and got an unrelated glowing review at work
And notice the potato doesnāt guilt you with āif you donāt, something horrible will happen.ā Potato wouldnāt betray you like that, because potato is a refined person of good humor and character, and understands that, sometimes, a visit to your dashboard just isnāt convenient right now. Sometimes you just went on a fandom gif reblogging spree or your energy is low, you do not have the time to make your dashboard suitable to guests, and a polite visit just isnāt in the cards. Potato understands this, and doesnāt get upset, or gods forbid, throws a tantrum and wishes ill on your household. Instead, Potato merely stores away their blessings for a later visit and leaves as a good friend should.
Be like Potato. Be a good friend.
i know what i want, potato, come through for me!
I REBLOGGED THIS AND NOW I FIND OUT I PASSED ALL MY UNIVERSITY ENTRANCE EXAMS WITH GOOD GRADES????
