Take all the turns (again)

I've already stated my love to the taking turns archetype and with the new strixheaven set, there has been quite a few brews from aspiringspike with Tablet of Discovery. Well it seems this artifact can also help you take extra turns in modern!

Take all the turns

I love when people try to take all the turns in modern. This is a list from a certain @wutup that has many turns cards and many chandras. The primary path to the endgame is denying your opponent mana until you can start taking all the turns. Don’t be surprised if this shows up at an FNM near you

Eumidian POX

Eumidian Hatchery has created a "new" archetyp that is a hybrid of lands, pox and hogaak but classic POX lists haven't popped up mutch. @BlogBoy92 Has been fidgetting with this awesome list in legacy

He's referencing another list from Vinícius Pereira that plays [Baloth Prime] that's some kudo's to him!

Maybe I should put this on the memeing or dreaming list of this year!

Premodern horror soup

Suicide black is a very aggro deck that puts all eggs in one basket and tries to get your opponent to 0 as fast as possible

This is another angle of attack I hadn't seen before and as the user says, you have to mulligan very agressively to have max power in play!

Budget Jeskai cEDH

I stumbled upon this deck that's probably between 50€ and 100€ to acquire so it's pretty cool at that price point and I love jeskai tokens/prowess decks!

Modern jeskai control

There is a small resurgence in jeskai control with two archetypes that are interesting, the stifflenought route where you try to cheat a Nulldrifter or a Phlage early:

The rogue corner (april 2025)

It's always juicy to browse the hareruyamtg website for legacy decks, this time I stubled upon these babies.

First a cycling deck from Kamiya Tsubasa:

Finally mono black smog from Roodslay - the original reason i stumble on the other decks - with a juke of reanimator. It's usually the other way around but I love the balsyness:

Neobrand in the spotlight series Utrecht

The Neobrand deck from Aaron Burns Lees was in the spotlight series in Utrech and was mentioned on this spiciest desklists article.

This deck has a few unexpected cards like Angel's Grace to not lose the game! It uses the version that I like wich is to go to discard and cast Oracle in response through a semi-convoluted route:

When you discard Thassa's Oracle and Worldspine Wurm at end of turn due to hand-size limits, the Wurm's trigger goes on the stack, allowing you to play spells in response. You'd put Thassa's Oracle back on top of your library with Noxious Revival, and an evoked Endurance then temporarily lets you control five creatures to convoke Chord of Calling for X=2. After this intricate setup, Thassa's Oracle cleverly secures victory.

11-4 is an impressive record and probably a good deck to play in a long tourney as you probably finish your games pretty quickly!

I've already posted about a extra turns eldrazi deck but this time it's a 7th place finish from Wutup that makes more sense to me because there are chalices and a lot of islands. I wonder if this could be played without the Tidebinders ?

Notice how more and more decks need 4 consign to memory in the sideboard ? 😱

AspiringSpike finds Kozilek's Command broken and proposed a mono black build that Selfeisek keeps putting results with.

Who said midrange is dead ?

I think Nic Fit is in a tough spot in the current meta. Many decks are now running a few basic lands, and midrange strategies tend to top out at 3 or 4 CMC. Just look at Broadside Bombardier, Nadu, Pyrogoyf, or The One Ring—flashy, high-cost spells cast ahead of schedule just don’t perform as well in 2025.

That said, I still have a soft spot for Nic Fit. It remains a solid budget entry deck, assuming Green Sun’s Zenith hasn’t become too expensive after its unbanning in Modern.

I really like this list from elvm: MTGTop8 Link. However, I’d consider swapping the Sedgemoor Witches for two more Witherbloom Apprentices. I’d also add a Field of the Dead to fetch with Titan, possibly adjusting the basic vs. snow basic split. Other than that, the list looks great!

Neobrand + birthing ritual

Neobrand is a cool but glasscannon deck where you have to resolve a neobrand to win the game on the spot. A few lists appeared in the past with birthing ritual but this one did pretty well in the chineese nationals by Cho Yiu Lam:

Lotus Breach 2025

I'm a sucker for twiddle storm. The deck has evolved to play Underworld Breach and then The One Ring to draw an obscene amount of cards. Now that The One Ring is banned, lists are popping up and this one is quite interesting as it makes use of Faithless Looting:

Izzet Charm is an answer to early threats or to Karn, The Great Creator. This deck goes off by looping Tome Scour and Twiddle netting one card in the graveyard each loop. You finish by wishing for Thassa's Oracle once you milled your deck and cast it for the win!

Colorless Eldrazi

Eldrazi Ramp is all the rage at the moment but that doesn't mean there aren't other viable builds of Eldrazi.

I acquired the pieces for colorless eldrazi a little before MH3 beginned spoils but never actually played the damn deck. Here is a list with Mystic Forge and of course Sowing Mycospawn, very demure!

Grixis phoenix

I've wanted to try Buried Alive since it's available in modern but it hasn't made that big of a bang, this list plays 3 in the classic izzet shell.

Definitely worth a try!
