blue sunset on Mars is a real phenomenon caused by the way Martian dust scatters sunlight.
Unlike Earth, where sunsets are red and orange due to the scattering of shorter blue wavelengths by our atmosphere, Mars has an extremely fine dust that scatters blue light more efficiently near the Sun.
So during sunset on Mars, the sky turns reddish-brown while the area around the Sun glows a soft blue. It’s the opposite of what we experience on Earth.
NASA’s rovers have captured this eerie sight
They wear suits, but they don't even know basic etiquette.
inspired by @cowardsexual 's post of a very sleepy phm science team and Grace's teacher instincts
My faceblindness is JUST enough that I'm not certain if this is Hugh Laurie or just a scruffy white guy with blue eyes but he's DEFINITELY doing the Hugh Laurie mouth thing so I'm about 70% certain it is
No that's definitely Hugh Laurie.
Oh thank god.
In that case, "You have to pay for liquor, but water's on the House"
The next doctor who should be a dog (golden retriever) and hold his sonic screwdriver (it looks like a bone) in his mouth and he still goes on adventures in the tardis (all the buttons look like dog toys) and he wears a dumb collar that gives him an old fashioned robot voice so he can monologue about time and space and tragedy but he is also a dog so the cybermen would throw a ball and he would go after it
this is my vision
"Blackbird" - personal work, inspired by my hometown. Blackbirds are my favourite - they sing so beautifully.
That is DIABOLICAL museum design, A++, no notes
My parents' dog, Peaches.
one of the funniest conversations I ever had with my ex was when they were still getting used to Celsius and asked me "what's 20 degrees?" and instead of converting it, I said "it's the highest your dad will ever let you set the thermostat and when you say you're cold he tells you to put on another sweater, we're not made of money" and they went "oh, 68"
the fact that this reference was that fucking precise was something they went on to tell people about for years.
furthest we've ever been
i highly recommend listening to The Anthropocene Reviewed (or the book of the same name) by John Green, specifically Lascaux Paintings and the Taco Bell Breakfast Menu. John talks about the fact that the oldest art made by humans (the hand stencils found at Lascaux) are the same as some of the first drawings kids do and how poetic it is that we still make the same things despite how different our worlds are
the idea of Grace leaving the same marks, light years away on an alien planet? it’s so beautiful
and i’ll leave you with this bit of angst from the tiktok comments and a quote from the podcast that really hits in this context
This is not the thing itself, but a shadow of it. This is a handprint, but not a hand. This is a memory that you cannot return to
i give Grace’s handprint on Erid five stars
