Though my blog is far from being a moderate one, I want to attempt to try to keep my personal feelings off of this post mainly because that was its intention from the beginning.
That isnβt to say I wonβt try and discuss with you what little I can to perhaps explain some of my thinking behind the moderate way Iβve written about these groups.
The main issue with BLM, feminism, or the LGTB+ movement, or any movement really looking to get rid of discrimination against one or more particular groups, is how itβs perceived from the outside, because ultimately while having people on the inside who want to get rid of that discrimination is great, your goal is to affect the people on the outside.
What essentially youβre aiming to do is change someoneβs opinion of someone else, no matter how irrational theirs might be, and while that might he a noble cause itβs also incredibly difficult to do, so I understand the trouble that I think the groups have.
You mentioned that the ones who have a problem with feminism are the ones who arenβt feminists, and being one of those people myself, I can agree. The view outside of the movement is not a pretty one, and that goes for each of the ones Iβve mentioned.
I would go into detail why, but frankly most of that would end up being my opinion, and I donβt want this post to lose itβs moderate position. The general idea though, from what Iβve gathered, is that the consensus of people outside these movements disagree with them.
However, Iβd like to point out that not everyone who is outside of those movements doesnβt believe in those movementβs messages, they just donβt believe in the movements.
I definitely couldβve worded the third paragraph better. Itβs actually my least liked one because when I originally wrote it I couldnβt phrase the problem I noticed with it. I suppose itβs less about the made up identities excluding the real ones, and more about the idea of inclusivity period thatβs excluding others.
Because the group covers such a wide range of people, the focus gets shifted around a lot, which is understandable when some identities become more socially acceptable than others, but Iβve noticed it causes a lot of infighting amongst the group.
Iβd argue that the group could do with being divided possibly into two separate groups dealing with gender identities and sexualities, but at this point in history the two are so ingrained within each other that that isnβt really feasible. I think the only option left is to solve the issue in our own house before we solve each otherβs issues, but perhaps there is a better solution I havenβt heard of.
Iβve heard this before that other times throughout history weβve been beyond truth and I didnβt mean to disregard that. I was more or less trying to bring up the idea of fake news thatβs been going around the internet and mainstream media recently.
Weβve most certainly lied to each other consistently throughout history, I wonβt deny that. Only recently with us becoming a society centralized around the internet of ideas, lies, or fake news as we call it now, have learned to flourish which I think collectively regardless of your political leanings we can say is a step backwards as opposed to forwards.
You would think with access to a more or less infinite well of knowledge that the truth would be easier to find in most stories, but not when that well of knowledge is so easily tainted.
I respect and expected rebuttals to come, and so far youβre the first genuine one, so for that I thank you. I knew this would open a dialog or conversation at some point, though maybe I expected a more vitriolic one.
