Frustration cont:

I cannot believe how diametrically opposite we were or how suffering this discussion was. The part I did not share yesterday she said. "Kudos for good diet changes but it was the fenofibrates that changed you numbers. Diet would not have effected it." "Diet had no effect" "Not at those levels,". She said, "medication was the only thing that would affect that." Great so diet had no bearing on my health "At what level can we know to stop taking the drugs?" "You don't. You will be on them for life?" "Why would I stay on them if I lost weight and my triglycerides were below normal?" "They don't hurt anything. Without them the numbers will creep up?" "The doctor and I are both pushing to end the meds as soon as possible." If you are skinny and eating right how do they increase that much? "Did the doctor prescribe anything for blood sugar? " "My blood sugar is well within normal range." Why would she ask that? "When it was higher? When it was 6.8?" "No" "He did not prescribe anything at all?" No he did not as any good dietician can tell you. Diet and exercise can play a huge part in health. Drugs are tools not answers. I'm stubborn I know but if I listened to her I would walk out thinking I have no control and drugs are the answer. I may as well be the man in the picture. What the sugar industry and government have been saying is just eat less. That is just part of the answer. You have to eat smart. A dietician who says drugs over diet is not a good choice for me. I wonder about all the type II diabetics she sees that don't know it is possible to eat your way off drugs. She was depressing! She gave me no plan or even a calorie target. Give up and do drugs. Ugh!!! This round goes to the FATMAN

Ok off the wagon - the one thing I wanted, the only thing I ever craved was meatloaf. So I got the ingredients and made something else. Of course I did it is me. Stuffed pepper stew: 95% lean ground beef sautéed with onions. Combine with soup stock, heavy cream, potatoes, bacon pieces, bell peppers, peppercorns, garlic, celery seed, tomatoes and a little catsup. Great and guaranteed never dry. Just don’t try to make a sandwich. See I know how to do simple 😜

Frustration

Dietician placed a bunch of model foods in front of me and said each one is 15 grams of carbs. I said yes but not all calories are created equal. She said, “No, they are. All calories and sugars are the same. Forget about glycemic, simple, and complex. A calorie is a calorie no matter what or when you eat. The only question is how many.” I looked up at her and said, “I apologize but this meeting is not going to go well.”

I don't fat shame until I saw this. If you are so diabetic that you cannot walk, I can only think that you have given up. Especially when your cart is full of Oreos, sausages, hot dogs. Pringles, more cookies and chips. And you are tugging another cart full of Diet Coke behind you. How can I not react? Although second thought is why not get the Diet Coke last? Don't give up-fight back!

So how does my crazy self-created low glycemic clean diet stack up?: Test results Jun 28 compared to Sep 12 Triglycerides went from 811 to 276 LDL not previously measurable came in at 77.8. Cor risk factor 10.2 to 14.7 (higher the # the better) Cholesterol 187 to 156 Fasting glucose 161 to 118 ALT 89 to 52 A1C. 6.8 to 5.4 Avg glucose 148 to 108. HDL. 19 to 23 Bp was 138. But when I showed him the pics from 3 different machines avg 109 to 100 he agreed I was excited today and cut my dosage in half. Round 1 by unanimous results is awarded to Tim Round 2 in 3 months

French-Italian Tilapia with pesto, tomato, artichoke sauce: garlic, tomatoes, white caps, artichoke hearts, parsley, white wine vinegar, pesto, Worcestershire, shallots, basil, capers, and spices. Oh my Gosh- the fish makes the tomato sauce taste buttery. I know I said no more recipes until my tests Monday but I am a slave to my whims. Tilapia usually bores me, but I could eat this every week. Tastes like fat buttery goodness but is good for you. I licked the sauce from the plate. So ashamed.

Ok I took myself off blood pressure medicine several weeks ago. I know not a good idea. My doctors appointment is the 15th. Without medicine it is hovering around 125/80. I'm sure it would go down more if I actually ever exercised. Should I start taking the meds before I go back or stay off and tell doc I was a bad boy?
