And hereās something prettiful so I donāt go to sleep cranky (view from a new spot I found in our guild hall) :)
So...We Went Back to GW2...
And tonight remembered why we left in the first place, or at least partially why. We were having fun mapping Bloodtide (āweā being my long-term LD SO of about 9 years) when Triple Trouble time came around and (in map chat) people who werenāt doing TT were asked (by the guild who thought they owned the map) to leave the map so more people could be taxied in.
Of course I thought ānot this shit againā.
I had a previous incident of this sort of elitist bs before leaving. Mapping Sparkfly on a character, seeing Teq getting ready to pop, going over to join in and then being told to follow some guildās orders or leave. I mean, it wasnāt as if Iād been DOING TEQ FOR MONTHS ON END IN ANOTHER TIME SLOT. I very politely told them to fuck off (in so many words) and did my part as Iād always done. Despite my defiance the event went off without a hitch.
Well. Tonight we refused to leave. Justification? Plenty. Their fun wasnāt any more important than ours. And I was harassed for telling them so.
We left gw2 over this sort of childish entitled nonsense, along with some guild rubbish. The only reasons we did come back: 1) the SoE grind in LotRo has gotten horrific; 2) we missed our characters and the game universe; 3) Iām 75% done with crafting the legendary torch everyone thinks is ugly as hell.
Iām sorry but every time I see someone tout gw2 as having the best, most helpful community I feel nauseous. I wish someone could change my mind but after these sorts of experiences...all I can think is the community sucks and weāll keep to ourselves. Itās sad. I enjoy helping people. I enjoy meeting people. But not the kind of people who badger others into playing the game the way THEY want it to be played.
All that said, Iām not adverse to anyone who can give me examples that might help me regain some faith in the community. I had that once. Not for long, but I did have it, that faith, and it made the game more enjoyable than the constant state of bemused cynicism I find myself in now.
Any gw2 advice for a newbie?
When SSG decided to take the lotro servers to Isengard I got...restless and started playing gw2. Yeah, Iām hooked. So I dragged my ldr so over and got him hooked too. At the moment I have a necromancer at about lvl 24 and a mesmer at 15-ish. Well, lotro is supposedly up again and I have no plans to abandon my characters there...but...after I log off tumblr Iām heading to gw2.
Hey, donāt think I didnāt notice so. many. familiar voices. Theron! Oh wait. Logan Thackeray.
So- any advice? any rp etiquette tips? class advice for my dormant 3 slots- is revenant any good? anything? HELP! Or Sebastianz will be sad-
Sad-der. More sad. Whatever.

Ready for some prime bullshit?
Thatās right folks. Unnatural hair colors means women are crazy.
Unless, just hear me out on this⦠it could be that some women like pretty hair colors.
Or they trying to avoid these type of idiots.
Go women with unnatural hair.
As I saw pointed out in a tweet in response to this weak analogy: In nature, these things occur as a defence from predators.
We dye our hair wild colors so assholes like this stay far away from us lmao.

Having a wonderful time in Western Gondor. Wish you were here. /s
^This was just too good to not post here too. Because wtf.
Pssst...
Idk if this is an okay thing to do- meaning a shoutout to my own blog- but my secondary blog is here: https://lostinarda.tumblr.com/
I havenāt 100% left swtor but the vast majority of my game time is spent on lotro now. I just started the blog but if itās anything like Anomalous Dispatches itāll be cluttered up soon enough. And pretty random.
So follow if you want to, and if you actually do play lotro drop me a note if you feel so inclined. This doesnāt mean AD is being dumped at all btw. Just a shift of primary interest re: gaming.
Lord of the Rings Online is the best MMO out there, and itās remarkably free. You can earn so much of the in-game currency just by playing, and thereās simply so much to do.Ā Right now the latest expansion, which includes Mordor ā Mordor! ā is discounted for a week or so! And itās a magnificent expansion, itās so deep and comprehensive, and I wish I could tell you every single thing I love about LotRO.
But I will keep it brief: the developers really care about the players. For example, earlier this week, a bug made one of my characters crash. It turned out to be a bug that only affected High Elf Rune-Keepers with a specific Legendary Item, on the Mac client. They fixed it within two days. And thatās just one example of many where they really helped. They care, and that makes all the difference for me. Theyāre not a huge developer disregarding their players, theyāre a smaller developer constantly rolling out more content, more fun, and fixing things promptly when they go wrong.
There are so many places to go, so many things to see, and so very much beauty. We now can go to Thranduilās fabulous sylvan palace and the northern reaches of Mirkwood, as well as the picturesque Dale, and even the magnificent Erebor. But Rivendell remains one of my favorites, and thatās not all ā the depths of Moria await, and the spectacular challenges are there for you to enjoy, such as fighting the Watcher in the Water and even Balrogs and CargĆ»l! The Watcher is absolutely perfect, terrifying and powerful and superbly-realized by the production. You will have a fantastic time facing all these legendary things!
But more than that, thereās such a feeling of welcome, of home and of warmth. Cosmetic pets like foxes, shrews, owls, and even more exotic ones like mole-rats and insects await. Various dances, crafts like fireworks and pipe-weed (yes, pipe-weed!), and a robust crafting where you can cook to your heartās content and create beautiful and very useful items for your friends and family, all await in Middle-Earth. Getting there is at least half the fun, and LotRO embodies Tolkienās romantic spirit of the travel being a large part of the thing. Itās one of the most beautiful aspects of it, and itās one of the very few MMO worlds Iāve seen where this is so important as it is.
Roads go ever, ever onā¦and I hope they will continue to do so. Please, if you havenāt already, give LotRO a try. And I will tell you personally: if you need help, and I can help, please let me know. I will do my very best, because more people need to experience the joy that is Lord of the Rings Online. It has been a joy for over a decade to countless players, and it is the world I come home to, time and again.
Iāll see you in Middle-Earth. :) Message Earmiro, Ithilote, or Rosvald any time on the Landroval server!
I canāt agree with this too much- more people DO need to experience the joy that is Lord of the Rings Online. Middle-earth is HUGE, you can spend the vast majority of your time just wandering around if thatās what you feel like doing. Every day since Iāve started playing again I see something new, something amusing or beautiful or just downright strange or all of those.
I donāt know, do you think Iām supposed to speak with Aelnir?
Never. Ever. Doing that again.
