You know, even though it's evolved from "paid DLC" to "full sequel", Silksong is technically still a stretch goal from Hollow Knight's 2014 Kickstarter campaign, and everybody who backed that campaign is still entitled to a copy, so if we're being very pedantic, Hollow Knight can in fact be included in the big list of crowdfunded metroidvanias that ended up taking a decade-plus to fulfill.
(The really funny part is that "playable Hornet" wasn't even one of the big stretch goals. It was like $56 000, below even the fucking "PS Vita port" tier. How's that for value for your money?)
Homestuck vs Hollow Knight: Battle of the video game kickstarter yet-to-be-fulfilled stretch goals!
A'ight LOOK: Team Cherry doesn't owe anyone a goddamn thing that they aren't prepared to deliver. I get people are mad about Silksong.
Actually no, fuck that, I don't get it at all.
There's an ocean of difference between a stretch goals taking a while to be met, and developers taking the money and running. Silksong exists, it's coming, and original backers are getting it for free.
There's also a fundamental misunderstanding people have about how Kickstarter works. You're not spending money to reach stretch goals, you're spending money on whatever tier of rewards you choose for the core project itself. If you donate to a project with stretch goals, you have to be prepared for those goals not to be reached. You cannot cherry-pick what aspects of a project you donate to, and it's not up to you or even the devs what ultimately gets funded. If you donated to the Kickstarter for the sole purpose of reaching something like the PS Vita tier, you are going about this whole enterprise the wrong way.
Now playable Hornet was funded (yay!), and the DLC eventually got so big that they decided to make a full game (Wow!) and give it to backers for free (Hot Damn!). But now it's taking a long time and for some reason people are acting like Team Cherry are holding out on them, not just their game, but their time and money.
So people are frustrated because a game, which was just a DLC we never might have gotten in the first place, which they don't have to pay for, is taking too long to come out, are treating Team Cherry like criminals.
tl;dr: Not only do people not deserve Silksong, they probably don't deserve Hollow Knight either.

oh to be a centuries old vampire numb to any feelings of love & affection until u meet some silly mortal who breaks down any barriers you've put up & slowly works their way into ur cold unfeeling heart, making u feel alive for the first time in ages.
He means everything to me.

LMFAO hell yeah give biscuit 2000 notes. why the fuck not. are you seeing this professor? are you seeing what my “failed” experiment has achieved

like yes harrowhark was definitely off the wall bonkers for the self lobotomy but let’s not pretend palamedes sextus wouldn’t have done the exact same thing. my guy blew himself up bc he knew the second cam found out how much danger they were in she would’ve fallen on the sword for him. he was sorrier to leave her alone than he was to die

[video description: a short clip showing a large metal sphere in the center of a shallow pool of dark liquid. the same dark liquid is pouring over the sphere, coating it, while windshield wipers installed onto the sphere attempt to wipe it away, only for more liquid to immediately fall and cover the clean spots. end video description.]
I realize this has meaningful symbolism for a lot of people, but all I could think is, from the sphere's perspective, "~Hoo boy, it's hot in here..!"
Yeah, Twilight Princess is a love story now, as god intended, and I will cage fight the man who says otherwise. Just look at this romantic shit:
