χαίρετε and welcome to my gimmick blog where I translate posts into Ancient Greek, mainly Attic. My main is @philopalaia.

I’m a student of Ancient Greek and very much still learning, so this is my disclaimer for any potential imperfections. In the tags of each translation I ramble a bit about the grammar and vocabulary choices I make; my chief companion in all this is LSJ.

My schedule is posting once or twice a day, though if I come upon resources or the like I will reblog those too. These will be tagged #resource.

Mostly this blog exists because translating silly things into the language of the Danaans (Greeks) is delightful to me, and perhaps it may encourage a little more love for Ancient Greek in others too.

I interpreted OP's use of "tortured" in a figurative sense (something like tortured in spirit), which is why I chose ταλαίπωρος, meaning miserable or suffering from hardihood. In contrast, βεβασανισμένος (perfect passive-middle participle of βασανίζω) is much more literal, generally referring to judicial interrogation through physical torture, or being tormented by a disease
