NEVER go back to the same place twice. If someone saw you, theyâll keep an eye out, and if itâs the same day theyâll remember you.
Never go for a backpack unless youâre keeping it to fill up in between lifts. Totes and handbags are better.
Make a list before you go. This way you wonât forget necessities and wonât be tempted to go back to the same store again.
Dress the part. No hoodies or tracksuits in dark colours, no hoods up. Staff with tell each other to keep an eye on you if youâre dressed like this.
If you have a magnet and/or hook. Make sure youâre confident with using it. Donât stress. Magents can be hidden inside a keychain to make them less obvious. Make sure you donât drop it otherwise ur screwed.
Make sure you know the store. If youâre going somewhere I havenât been before check it out by googling the store, or looking at the location on Instagram. There will be pictures of the layout.
Donât shout or laugh too loudly. SAâs will be drawn to this. Feel free to make subtle comments about the products though, youâll seem more interested and a genuine buyer.
Go lifting on a weekday, lower amount of staff, who will be very tired since itâs during the week and they probably havenât had a day off.
Make up code words / phrases. For example, if you think an SA if onto you say âmy grandads in the hospital right nowâ, if you need to leave say âmy grandads passed awayâ, if you need to borrow the magnet / hook, tell youâre buddy to âpass the keysâ. You get the idea.
If you do get caught. Apologise immediately, cry, do whatever it takes to make them let you go sooner. Make up a dumb excuse, but never be rude to the security dude.
Donât get too greedy!! Take what you need, and if youâre thinking about boosting, youâre gonna get a profit no matter how many things you take.
Try to conceal as youâre walking around the shop. If you stop and start fumbling around in your bag itâs gonna be wayyy more obvious. When concealing larger items make sure youâre in a blind spot.
Make sure youâre calm. If youâre Wiccan, or not, use a protection spell (personally I do lol) and if you smoke, have a cigarette before lifting. These methods will calm any nerves.
Make sure you have a way out FAST. If you drive park your car away from the shops, but still within a fast walking distance. Or take the bus.
Change up your appearance. Dye your hair every so often. Cut a fringe and clip it back. Change your outfit style. A lot of lifters say to not go back to a store without leaving it at least 2 weeks. Personally I think a week is fine as long as you go on different days, thereâs gonna be different staff.
