Alright tell me in the tags, what’s Your Poem? That poem you heard once and it has dwelt within you ever since?
Deadass
The social cheat I’ve learned for this is to say:
“I have to check my calendar, why, what’s Friday?”
This says “Maybe” without saying “Maybe”, and giving you the option to make up a Doctor’s Appointment You Forgot About (or reschedule one you didn’t!) depending on what they say.
It’s an amazingly powerful sentence for my Autistic and ADHD ass - it gives me the ability to judge my social spoons, as well as communicating that “hey, I might have forgotten something, it’s not you it’s me” in a very non-offensive way.
“I have to check my calendar, why?”
THANK YOU FOR THIS
PRO TIP: do not IMMEDIATELY respond in the negative or affirmative once they answer. Maintain the ruse. Give yourself to the count of, like, 30, before saying yes or no.
fuck i love you
“maintain the ruse” no legit check your calendar though there might be something on there you don’t remember, especially if you have ADHD
And if you have your calendar open and it IS something you want to do, you can actually put it on your calendar to not forget or double book!
They need to teach the Red Scare better in schools. It wasn't just about being allied with the Communist party. It was about being any identity the government considered "subversive".
The lavender scare, specifically, for the queer community. And they called MLK Jr a communist, too.
It isn't even that they invented cancel culture, it's that they're still practicing it, and in fact are still by far the biggest practitioners of it. Look at the amount of effort they're currently putting into destroying the lives of trans people, and anyone who might be tempted to help them. Look at the number of people who've lost their jobs for saying anything even remotely critical of Israel or sympathetic to the Palestinians. Look at what happens when a conservative takes over any piece of media, be it Twitter or the Los Angeles Times, and immediately starts shutting down anything they don't like. Look at the sheer amount of effort that conservatives have put into having any piece of entertainment canceled that they consider "woke." There's a massive wave of "cancel culture" going on right now and it's all coming from the right wing. (To the extent that liberals are part of the problem, it's far more likely to be by going along with right-wing cancel culture than by indulging any left-wing version).
Having "a lot" of followers on tumblr is funny because probably 80% of them are ghost blogs who haven't been on here in like a decade.
It's like, no no, those aren't my followers, that's a graveyard! I'm the caretaker of a thousands of tombs. I love them, but they've been dead for seven years.
compliments from girls go hard
I think so many people forget making the world a better place isn’t just about having all the ‘correct’ sociopolitical opinions and beliefs and knowing all the theory it’s also hugely about actually being a good person in your everyday actions… acts of kindness and empathy, going out of your way to help others, small moments of connection in a cold world, loving thy neighbour all that
Love the use of ‘the,’ here.
What the shit
"none of these words are in the bible" you're not even reading the secret part of the bible. with all my posts in it

that one study that was talking about how the “gay voice” can be viewed as just what post-testosterone based puberty voices sound like when not trained into culturally masculine modes of inflection and intonation. I think that’s a great masculinity based example of the same phenomenon as discussed in my previous post. Like the reason speaking in that way is gender nonconforming is likely because it reveals the effort and practice that goes into “natural” adult masculinity. it draws attention to the fact that the narrow allowable masculinity is constructed and necessarily learned in order to be perfected.
interesting flipside, feminine inflections are probably learned and constructed too. i have some feminine cis female coworkers who have very "boyish" voices who would probably read very masculine if their voices are deeper. i distinctly recall, as a teenager, realizing that the way i talked was different than my female classmates and starting to inflect more to "fit in". so the real default is probably a wide variation that gets shoved into these different boxes by a lot of pressure
