Any tips or tricks for a beginner artist?
I love your art so much but I need to be able to draw my own transition goals
number 1: i always feel better doing a drawing vs. looking at someone else's drawing (you gotta find your own language, u've got a voice - and it's important! - and the way to hone that is to use your voice all the time!! don't just listen to other people! i.e. You gotta draw, not just take in other people's drawings, if that makes sense. looking at what someone else is doing is great for inspo sometimes but too much of it will make it hard for you to value your own voice and even if your voice is bad it's good, trust me)
number 2: dont be embarrassed by anything, let your pencil/pen/brush wander and dont judge yourself (having a style is about your hand learning muscle memory, draw whatever you want whenever you want and leave ur inner critic at home and then you'll turn around one day and wont be a beginner at all!)
number 3: if you're digital artist and have photoshop download kyle t webster brushes (free), procreate: jingsketch brushes (cheap), if you're a traditional artist find a really nice soft pencil (4b+) or charcoal and Be Really Confident and Not Precious and even if you make mistakes it'll look like your style rather than mistakes :^)
number 4: draw what you find fun! honestly. like, just have fun. follow the passion, dont beat yourself up

Morpho: Fat and skin folds by Michel Lauricella ✌️
Thanks @gummiprince the real MVP
[Image Description:
First image is a book cover, with the main title appearing vertically “Morpho. Anatomy for Artists”, to the right of the cover the rest of the title is there horizontally as “Fat and skin folds”, author is “Michel Lauricella”, and below is a pencil sketch of a naked fat person from a back-profile view, raising one of their arms. Below the sketch, is the publisher name “rockynook”.
Second image is a screenshot of a reply by tumblr user gummiprince saying “This is available as a free pdf here!!!! http://jointhemedia.com/server6.php?asin=1681985047″.

I checked the website link, and it isn’t a safe place to download things on, it is full of fake download buttons and images that lead to the same place with a fake download file, has comments from a bunch of bots, and fake information, and it wants you to get a “7 day trial” while having an unsecure website with no ssl certification. This is a good way to get malware and get your information stolen, I would not trust it if I were you.
Here are some safe links instead:
B-ok.lat (Free, the preview pages are wonky but the actual file is fine.)
Thriftbooks.com (Costs money, but supports the author and a decent book retail store with better business practices and cheaper prices. Is for the physical book.)
Libby.app (Virtual library app, if your library has the book, you can borrow the e-book. Requires a library card.)
Eyes details in art.

oh yea just throwing it out there but. if u are a beginning digital artist PLEASE i am BEGGING you to experiment with different methods of making your drawings because i see so many of yall suffering for no reason using what you’re taught because you don’t know to try a different way. like SO MANY PEOPLE people make jokes about how much worse their lineart looks from their sketch and how much of a pain it is to do lineart… if that’s you, then, don’t do lineart! just clean up your sketch a bit, or keep the bits from the sketch that you like the most and only do a separate layer for the things that really need fixing, or just paint right onto it!! endless possibilities. if u keep having troubles trouble with layers? u don’t need them, just merge them and keep going. better at sketching traditionally than digitally? take a picture of ur sketch and draw on top of it. there is no One Right Way to do anything in art except what’s fun and satisfying for you. be free
