Green Strings

I had a realization on the green border in every fight is. Everyone associated it with Gaster and extrapolated that “Gaster is Green” but I have a new theory for you: Bonds are Green

The border we play in during boss fights is our cage. The limit of our movements alongside Kris. When we shift forms we constrict in our cage

as if it takes some effort or struggle from Kris to make it happen. “But Trayzen, why does this prove that it’s a bond?” I imagine you asking simply this happened with Maddie and Pink in the recent boss fight. When the two start to struggle against each other and try to pull away their body starts to collapse from the struggle and green strings become visible from their finger tips

the invisible bond that connects them gets so strained we can see it visibly. It makes you think about a few things. If someone tries to break free of their bonds would they look like a puppet on strings

someone who might not be as far along in escaping as they thought. Then again would you want to cut your strings if your life depends on them?

There is a bright side to this though. Because despite all of them raging against the bonds they share theirs two people who found a way. Rather than fight each other they found a way to coexist and for the sake of Kris who has both of us raging against the strings. For Kris they rage against the control and for us we rage against our restrictions. We have yet to struggle so hard that everyone else can see it but if we keep struggling that string may snap.

shockingly accurate to what Toby was evidently going for. The Flowers have very limited experience with everything. They’re flowers. They can’t move and don’t have the same worldly knowledge. Their life with Asgore was everything to them. They made their forms based on what they believed being human was and some are closer to the mark than others. Orange looking like a mouse was intentional to prove just how skewed their idea of humanity actually is.

Flowery is a Mary Sue and this is on purpose. He wanted to be the perfect Best Friend and so used his wish to be the best guy who can do anything. He can fly, he’s strong and fast, he’s a pretty anime boy. Ralsei even points out that Flowery isn’t as smart or capable as he tries to make himself seem. He uses the wrong terminology, he calls things by the wrong name and he bullshits with pure confidence and Ralsei manages to call him out a few times and Flowery just brushes those call outs aside as if to say “Okay you got me but we’re going to ignore that”

If you’re tired of the YouTube BS and just want to post videos in peace without being asking on eggshells then KamTape is for you. It was made specifically to recreate Old School YouTube and outside of the name it’s but by but exactly what YouTube used to be. It has category pages, community tabs, friend options. It runs on a Star Rating rather than Likes and Dislikes. Theirs no algorithm to speak of its entirely user driven. this all sounds great- and it is- however given how new it is and what it’s trying to do the site lives on donations and you cannot get paid by the site directly but if you want to get paid for your content while working on the site theirs always options like Patreon. Most people are making videos on KamTape not as a job but for fun. Like how it used to be. Regardless of it’s small beginnings i wholeheartedly believe in it’s potential and it could grow into the other things you want from it but it first needs support.

She complains about how much she hates the human language and since her cover has been blown has refused to turn human again. Plus theirs a subtle art to being able to shift forms without destroying your clothes every time and it's one Matilda never cared to learn.

Ok ok okokokok. So! Chapter six! That happened! Wow!

…but, realtalk? This is kind of what I expected to happen when I thought of the hunters fighting a pack of Garou, even a small one like the Kin of Old Shuck (who I will be referring to as ‘The Pack’ from here on, because the full name is too long). Even with a battalion of armed zealots backing them up, the Garou are just that strong.

And the thing is, Stig wasn’t even really fighting, so much as he was playing with his food. Like, look at this man .

Does this look like a man who is taking this fight seriously? No, this is the face of a man who knows he’s in practically zero danger and is just fucking around for shits and gigs. It’s like Kitten says:

And when he does pull out the Warform it’s only A) When the Leopoldites have to use the actual power of Christ to hold him down (and piss him off). And he needs to escape.

[not to mention them pulling a fucking Hellsing reference while their at it. These guys wish they has as much aura as Alexander Anderson]

And B) when he gets Enraged TM at Grimal for having the audacity to have her ‘funny oar’ be lined with silver.

Both of which might just be because his Garou temper got the better of him.

I’m pretty sure the only reason any of the hunters stood even the smallest chance of making it out alive here is because Stig cares about being honorable (and, again, wasn’t trying his hardest) and because he was alone, If Matilda, or ‘Hunter of Hunters’ (who i will continue calling Matilda so we don’t get confused) hadn’t stayed behind with Jambles to keep watch over Marckus, there was no chance any of them were leaving that clearing.

And speaking of, it was very nice seeing Marckus again. I've missed my boy. And I’m very surprised by how…not maimed he is, i knew the pack wouldn’t have killed him yet, but the fact that he isn’t even that roughed up is surprising, considering it’s “been hours” since they took him, and especially considering that Matilda is a red talon, the group of Garou who hate humans the most, bar none.

It was also interesting to see that apparently Quosmicvoid’s theory about her being raised in the woods and living mostly in wild form is correct, considering she struggles to speak properly and can’t count higher than 10.

And Jambles! I love Jambles, my scrimbly skrunkle who loves gambling and uses a commodore desktop and takes bets on whether they need to torture information out of a man with magical fish spirits.

He’s great, the whole pack is great honestly, I love their group dynamic, I wonder how they met though? They all seem to run in pretty different circles so I can't see them just bumping into each other.

But anyway, back to the others, any how fucked they are, because they are still very fucked.

The arcanum hunters (+ one of the cappucci brothers and Gabriel) may have managed to run away after Grimal’s sacrifice, but that doesn’t mean much considering how much they’ve lost for basically no gain, lance 2 is gone, Grimal is probably dead, Kitten and Remold are injured and Stig is fine.

All the wounds he’s sustained will be healed by the time he catches up with them, and he’s still got his pack members to fall back on, all they really did was make him sad over prematurely ending his bout with Grimal, and that was because HE killed her. And he’s still coming after them once he’s buried her. 

So all they’ve really done is go in, lose a bunch of guys, and retreat.

Meanwhile D and Brock are traipsing through the Umbra (which is its own can of danger worms) straight into the wolf's den. 

Which is basically the same as walking into a trap, because while they might not know they can traverse the umbra, the pack does know about D, courtesy of Marckus, and we know that Matilda can take him on fairly well, and Brock too, and let’s not forget Jambles, who while he isn’t a fighter, is a Garou, which immediately puts him at an advantage over the humans.

So yeah, things are not looking good, the hunters are scattered, outgunned, and rapidly losing numbers. At this point I see only three ways they can get out of this without any more significant deaths:

A) Big D actually does know about the location of Old Shuck somehow, and is able to trade the information in exchange for Marckus and being allowed to leave safely, though whether the Leopoldites and Remold will be willing to let go of the idea of revenge and leave peacefully is something yet to be seen.

B) The Leopoldites pull a literal Hail Mary to save them all.

C) Palmer and Blair rock up with a Pentex kill squad,and everyone else as backup. Basically I’m imagining that everyone else in the coalition shows up because Palmer ‘convinced them’ to help, and the Belgian guys (G-kontoret i think) show up because there are in fact, gnomes here, somehow.

And that was one of the things they were interested in. And at first it’s framed as a good thing but it’s actually sinister because Pentex are, NOT, the good guys like they are evil AF and also the #1 human enemy of the Garou, if the Garou are Gaia's soldiers Pentex are the Wyrms soldiers. And then shit will go sideways, again.

But yeah I really don’t see a ‘clean’ way out here. I still think something Wyrm related is going to go down, AND I still think the Garou stuff will lead into Mage stuff later on because of their shared Wyrm connection (and Marckus).

The image of Christ there is terrifying both in Lore of WOD as all as personally as a Christian and I get why Stigs is angry when he sees it.

That's not Jesus. That's Wyrm taint. Christ on the Cross is important to Christianity because it represents a noble sacrifice to save humanities soul, at not just the cost of his death but a slow death. A Serpent is eating through Jesus, burrowed deep in him to the point it's even replaced his bones. It's terrifying, it's disgusting. Theirs no nobility in this form, it's just torture. The Spirit is in pain and suffering an ignoble fate at the hands of these Crusaders. By using their True faith as Wyrm Tainted they only serve to hurt the image of God. Stigs sees the suffering of this spirit and it throws him into rage even saying "What did they do to you?"

Spamtons final plea

with all the new information about Spamtons fall and how Friend relates to all of this I listened through the talking sequence in The Spamton Boss Fight and it suddenly makes more sense it says it the first time more clearly but then repeats it and it starts to get garbled as it starts to layer on top of itself. From what I hear “It’s coming for me, answer the phone. I can’t tell you until we’re all alone. It pulls the strings and makes them ring- can you hear the ringing? Tell me do you still want to be a Big Shot?”

I think this was Spamton trying to call Tenna after running away. The message he got over the phone after breaking the deal and promising to make Tenna a Big Shot scared Spamton so deeply he ran out of the room and Tenna never saw him again. The Phone he used is left in an abandoned room that’s in disrepair. After feeling abandoned Tenna probably never came back to that room so never heard Spamtons message for Tenna to come and save him. Spamton didn’t want Tenna to get wrapped up in this and so only wanted to tell Tenna when he was alone. Spamtons cry for help landed no ears.

Tenna unintentionally left Spamton to die and on top of Tenna destroying Spamtons career out of anger by slandering him he never answered the Phone. They both have reasons to hate each other but Tenna had no idea how deep Spamton buried himself before they even met.

So i just woke up and had a… realization. as to why ralsei wants us to spare and recruit as many darkners as possible.

so i went back and looked at some of ralsei’s dialogue across every chapter so far to try and see if my realization had any merit and…

Ralsei’s dialogue from chapter 1 & 2 DIRECTLY alludes to the ending of chapter 5

I think the reason Ralsei wants us to spare enemies is directly for Susie’s sake. Shes like. the main person that this would affect if she’s beginning to view castle town as a home.

Im just wondering how this would affect the ending of the prophecy, especially with chapter 4 & 5’s dialogue in mind.

Agh I’m not exactly explaining this right.

It just. Really feels like Ralsei is trying to protect Susie from something that will happen later. Like. The final prophecy (or something else relating to the ending) will directly involve her (well i mean. obviously, but like… you know what i mean.)

It really feels like. The ending of chapter 5 being so happy is set-up for something fucking horrible happening immediately in chapter 6. we have. literally no idea what happened in hometown (aside from something bad happening to rudy) after we entered the dark world and it feels like theres a sword dangling above every character’s head.

Chapter 6 WAS the only chapter of lord of the hammer that Gerson just. decided not to describe in any way whatsoever. Like. apparently he did write it, since it was Chapter 7 that he never made— its just that he just. didn’t describe it to susie during the fight. which is. idk. worrying and ominous.

Like. Idk. Ralsei going like “Recruiting darkners is important for making a good ending.” (even though its not really obvious how that could change anything other than saving Tenna and Jackenstein) and then seeing Susie in chapter 5 treat castle town like her home while she’s surrounded by the darkners in the same chapter where Ralsei is praying and is like “Have mercy on them… have mercy on Susie.” has me SO FUCKING SCARED.

I feel like this has something to do with it. It’s a mural for a scrapped piece of Undertale. It depicts what seems to be a Dragon fighting and Angel with antlers as the Delta Rune hangs above them. The ground cracks and lightning comes from the sky. This is still important even if it’s scrapped art but I can’t prove how it connects. Susie has a persistent fantasy of becoming a Giant Monster and in Gersons story Susie is the Dragon. Both Noelle and the Titans have Angel imagery so it’s a toss up but for some reason I feel it’s Noelle.

Ralsei’s abridged version of the Prophecy also shows the earth splitting open, as it storms lightning. With us “Banishing the Angels Heaven” being the three of us standing around the Delta Rune. It all feels connected but I can’t figure out how they connect

In Shintoism Deities, Spirits and Yokai are everywhere but they live in a parallel world that overlaps with ours. Same basic place but not in the same place if that makes sense. Sort of like How Dark Worlds aren’t simply alternate worlds but a different layer of our world. Everything translates but it’s also different.

They’re everywhere and even if they don’t physically manifest in our world the beings in Shinto belief still work from beyond they veil. A Rock that fell but didn’t crush a home is a spirit that made the decision to dodge your home for example.

This also happens in Deltarune the blog posts and even some rare mentions within the game itself mention how sometimes weird coincidences simply happen with some items. Spamton being in communication with both Noelle and Dess. Noelle encountering Friend through her game and Friend interacting back. Tenna always putting on the right shows and programs for the family.

Every Darkener remembers their life as an item but also had a life beyond the Light World. Entire histories happened within their own world in parallel to where they were in the Light World.

Theirs Spirits beyond the human world and exist in Shinto and this is true in Deltarune too. This is made clear with Chapter 3 and 4 because to Darkeners of Nature signed contracts with Tenna to stay where they were. Tenna took control of Darkeners native to the woodlands and made them a part of his domain like Darkeners of Water.

In the Church where Darkeners of more spiritual matters live you can see those same water spirits in their true forms. Deltarune is very Shinto in its world building even if Toby Fox didn’t intend that to be the case.

It's kinda funny seeing all the Shinto-inspired aspects in the Normal Route since the Weird Route is full of Christian symbolism, which substantially more people have discussed. (Thorn Ring being a crown of thorns, Noelle constantly being associated with Christmas and Angels, the Lake Skip being compared to a baptism).

Clearly which ending is the good ending depends entirely on your religious beliefs.

I’m Christian and I don’t see anything good coming from the weird Route so I’m also curious how you figured that which is good depends on religious beliefs.

I get most of Tumblr isn’t religious but even for religions I don’t share I feel weird how atheists tend reduce religion to aesthetics, regardless of if they mean to or not.

I remember speculating back when Chapter 2 hinted at the reasons behind Asgore's removal from Hometown's Police...

That it wasn't what led to his divorce from Toriel. That we're not doing a direct parallel behind the termination of their marriage in the 'Undertale' Universe (by having Asgore do a Very Bad Thing and Toriel leaving in moral outrage and disgust), but instead subverting it by going for something totally mundane and ordinary. And that actually, it's Asgore divorce came first and that led him to spiral down and lose his job.

And I've been thinking about this theory again after Chapter 3. With Tenna, who is on some level a stand-in for Asgore's Divorced Behavior in a similar fashion to how Queen was a stand-in for Carol's overcontrolling parenting, self-destructively tanking his show and his relationship with all of his employees in a desperate attempt to keep the Fun Gang and Toriel from leaving him...

Maybe there are some parallels there we're gonna learn about later...

turns out it was almost exactly like in Undertale. Asgore gets angry over a tragedy he had no control over, his anger and frustration tears apart his marriage as he tries to fix a problem after theirs no chance in fixing it. In Undertale he vowed to kill every human that entered the underground so he could break the barrier and destroy humanity. He regretted it after he said it but it was too late. In Deltarune Asgore looks for Dess and loses them in a Dark World, his obsession in trying to figure out what happened and to prove to everyone else that he was talking the truth ruined his relationship with his family. His emotions got the better of him in both scenarios. He's not a bad guy and he's very caring but the problem was that he cared too much.

Okay, can we talk about how Susie interacts with Orange for one second? Like, I see absolutely no one talking about these two, which definitely has some implications regarding Susie's past. Look here-

Susie had a whole thing about hiding her tail, right?

And it's clear that Susie is actually empathising with Orange with her situation.

Susie trying to reassure Orange that it's okay they aren't human or look like the others...

And this one is the most interesting, because it seems the whole thing about "pretending to have the odd one fit in" clearly upset Susie here. Normally, Susie isn't someone that would resort to back to "beating up enemies" like in Ch 1, but its clear that she didn't like the direction of how things were going that she forces the group to act in this way.

We know that Kris' whole thing is about how they feel different from the rest of the town for being the only human in a town full of monsters, right? Orange seems to be a reflection of this, yet it's SUSIE, not Kris, who empathises with Orange the most here, out of all of the 7 Flowers. They even have a whole thing about them being HUNGRY when we first meet them, and Susie has food insecurity.

The whole hiding the tail thing, humans not having tails, Susie trying to reassure Orange that it's okay to be different.

Guys. Do you not realise what this is all implying?

Could Susie have lived with humans...?

That's why Susie was triggered when they tried to pretend to be a mouse to make Orange fit in. Because that's what happened to her. Susie says that those who usually tried to be friends with her often did it as a joke.

Holy shit.

Orange is a parallel to younger Susie just like how Aqua is a parallel to younger Kris. (And note that cyan and orange as considered opposites/complimentary in UTDR with the whole "moving vs staying still" mechanics of the two.)

There's also the fact that Orange is the one who ends up becoming besties with Pink. Pink being the Kris + Player parallel... Orange and Pink is Susie and Kris. oh my god.

...AND NO ONE IS TALKING ABOUT THIS???

I always figured she lived among humans. Hometown is a small country town and they tend to have a more concentrated population for a lack of better words. Susie strikes me as someone who came from the city especially with her story about a piano in the public area. Theirs also small moments you can miss if you don't have ears for it but Susie has a bit more of a... metropolitan way of talking. In a town full of monsters she talks more broadly than from the perspective of a monster. It's mentioned in early segments that in this world monsters still don't bleed because a kid asks Kris what it feels like to have blood in them and if it hurts. Susie has a very human centric phrase of "Everybody bleeds", and it puts HEAVY emphasis on the fact Susie can bleed. Combine that with her being embarrassed of her own tail with the possibility she's from a more mixed community than Hometown and theirs probably some very specific insecurities Susie has that no one in Hometown can relate to and Orange can.

Gaster and the nature of Omnipresence

after the punch card this I’m convinced that theirs a deeper connection to Undertale and a lot of people already figured it but I always felt the evidence was flimsy. Regardless it plays into a deeper point I want to make because if we accept whatever happens here, however it happens, will lead in some way to Undertale then we have to ask ourselves how Gaster is here as his current state is reliant on his moment in Undertale.

a little personal Lore but I’m a Christian- which is makes it odd I’m on Tumblr at all but that’s an entire other conversation. My point being is that my religion has a very similar question so I feel uniquely qualified to explain how I think this runs down. Because Gaster in effect made himself. To be Omnipresent means you are everywhere not just in a spacial sense or even a cosmic sense but realities above and beyond. Time becomes meaningless because you were, are and always was.

the Lore itself says so because Gaster is shattered across Time and Space. He’s everywhere and everywhen. Gaster is at the state he is now before he became what he will become. A living Ouroboros.

Given this is the case then where he is what he will be before he was it comes into play what his experiment actually is. What could a being who sees all possibly want to test? Simply put “can God make a stone he can’t lift” if he is Past, Present and Future can their be someone who can defy all possibility? Can a time you exist in be changed before your eyes? That’s where we come in, the anomaly, the player, the soul that can experience the present and change it in the past. Gaster was fascinated seeing us fight The Knight. He knows we are fated to lose yet is interested in the fact we do not consent to that fate. He sees out power grow in defiance and he wants to see the impossible happen.

Determination, the power to persist, the desire to change fate. Can pure will defeat Fate? Can God make a stone he can’t lift?

After the new chapter 5 Pink dialog I looked at the Spamton q&a and found some interesting things.

In my opinion, Spamtons puppetification is still the work of his benefactor. From the q&a (and addison dialogue) we know that he used to be an addison.

After his sales dropped, he became a puppet, he went into hiding from friend(s). That’s the reason for a black blazer and the glasses, but it made Swatch think Spamton was imitating him (from what I know only Swatch talks about people imitating his look).

Another interesting thing is the ask about pipis. It might seems that Spamton is saying that only he can call them eggs, but now id say he’s talking about how only friend would see pipis as eggs. Also “a white one, that’s surely another man’s treasure” is probably referring to the forgotten man?

While I was going crazy about this instead of sleeping I also thought about Pluey. Pluey looks a lot like friend, there’s a lot of interesting dialogue, I mainly remember Battat saying something about Pluey not taking the costume off, pink and yellow and thinking oh a friend. It makes me think that maybe Pluey could be in hiding as well… maybe having a connection to the original Mike (who probably went into hiding as well since he knew something about Spamtons benefactor (saying this because Mike warned Tenna about the contract)). But I haven’t had the time to actually look into it, but I think its really interesting and I wanted to throw this out there.

It also brings back into focus his dialogue in his shop. Because if you bring up friend he goes on a rant that darn near avoids the subject which then changes the subject to Knight and Spamton darn near has a PTSD breakdown where his text becomes normal for a moment he’s apologizing and begging to someone before saying saying “too many vacation days? Take a trip straight to hell!” Same thing happens when you bring up Fear and asks if anyone can hear him and help him.

I’m also almost certain now the dialogue in his boss fight is several things being said on top of each other one is the repeating of “I think it’s coming for me answer the phone” “I can’t tell you until you’re all alone” “it pulls the strings and makes them ring” “do you hear the ringing?” “Tell me, do you want to be a Big Shot?” Theirs one part in the middle that’s really garbled so I can’t make it out properly.

What does this mean?!

I’m obsessed with this image ever since Toby Fox showed it to us. I know this is important but I can’t prove it. This was a mural on a a scrapped piece of Undertale. Toby hasn’t been so quick to throw away old ideas so far and has repurposed a lot of them. This image feels endgame and prophetic. The fact nothing like this happens in Undertale tells me he had a different idea in mind at one point and it feels more grand than the personal story of Undertale.

what I see here is a Dragon fighting an Antlered Angel with the Delta Rune above them. Theirs been plenty of speculation of who exactly the Angel refers to but Noelle has a lot of Angel imagery about them. Then of course theirs the Dragon. Susie is the Dragon in Gersons Story and Susie herself frequently fantasizes about becoming a Giant Monster. I can’t begin to articulate the scenario that would have to happen for Susie and Noelle to fight to the death and as Apocalyptic Monsters no less. However I can’t imagine it being anyone else

Morals of Palworld

I've been fascinated by the actual story of the game now that it has a proper story. While it's easy to say it's a very immortal game with how you treat pals and other creatures. It actually speaks to important facts and a real world morals you can take away. The way you play is a moral choice but unlike other games with moral choices it refuses to hold them over your head. It's just how you interact with the world, it's not going to grandstand. You can be an abusive tyrant to Pals or you can work alongside them peacefully to make a better life. Now you may think to yourself "But you get those pals through fighting and catching them" and you're right. To counter this instinctual moral platitude we all have theirs the Pal Alliance led by Lily Everhart. They want to live peacefully with Pals and live the Vegan Utopia. However the game points it out in every way possible that this mentality is not only Naive but downright Arrogant.

As Human beings total coexistence with Pals is impossible. They have different needs, standards of living and different ways of being. For as much as you may love Pals they aren't people. Pals eat humans and other pals, some are outright hazardous either by nature or instinct. HOWEVER this doesn't mean we should ravage nature. You can't coexist but you can live in balance. Eat Pals if you want, plenty of pals do it already, treat them like people if you want. It's weird but nothing is stopping you, treat them like animals if you want, it's honestly getting closer to the truth if you do, or abuse them no one is stopping you. That's between you and your conscience.

The entire game reflect this because everyone has a unique relationship with Pals. The older generations treated them worse, younger generations treat them like friends more often, theirs some like Lily that envision a world like Pokemon even though a world like that is pretty much impossible in this setting. The Tower bosses have even more in depth relationships and even though I won't go over all of them I can give you a taste of what this game is going for. The first boss lived life with a broken family when she was little when her dad disappeared. A Castaway who washed up from a land far beyond gave her Wander Lust and she wanted to see the world. Her Pal protected her from bullies and anyone threatening to hurt her and in a very lonely point in her life he gave her confidence.

Lily was a bullied kid growing up and one day while walking through the berry fields she saw a Pal being attacked and without thought ran to protect her. From that point forward the two were inseparable and helped protect others both Human and Pal.

Then theirs the boss of the local Government keeping the law. He runs a drug ring, pushing drugs into communities and then turns around and busts the dealers with the help of his Pal. That way they can get the product back and get all the money while looking good. He talks about his Pal in a disparaging way but notices that for some reason his Pal never turns on him ever though he suspects that it one day will. He waves off the possible idea of genuine affection while still embracing an affectionate dynamic saying "We'll play house until it gets boring"

In just these three examples it's different relationships with Pals and none of them are framed as wrong. Some people have Pals to support them and protect them, some have Pals that they want to have a mutual partnership with and some simply want to be toxic together. This is how people are with animals in the real world too. Some have them as emotional support, some simply want someone to live with them, and others use them for labor. The Laborer may feel no affection towards the animal but they also might care just as much for it as anyone else but they try to stay professional.

The game presents to you an open ended questions and people who share every possible answer you might have to it. It's only request when interacting with Pals is "Remember, they're not people"
