DC is set to release a "faux-simile" reprint of Batman #428, originally published in 1988, with an unpublished alternate ending.

This issue is famous for the death of Jason Todd, the second Robin, at the hands of the Joker. However, the twist here is that in 1988, fans were allowed to vote on Jason's fate, and they chose his demise by a narrow 72-vote margin.

Decades later, Jason Todd was revived as the Red Hood. The alternate ending, created by the original creative team, will finally be revealed to fans when the 'Faux-simile' edition of Batman #428 is released on December 12.

#dc #kon el #i have not enjoyed a current superboy story since i was like twelve but this hurts #like do i think this arc sounds like a repetitive slog through every old interpretation of kon? yes #do i still wish we could’ve had trans femme kon? ye absolutely #i think most of all this is a crushing blow to all of us dc fans with secret delusions of one day becoming dc writers #and getting to make our favorite characters trans #bc regardless of how original some of the identity crisis content is #the textual justification in her proposal is actually v solid #like ye kon DOES make a great trans allegory #and i didn’t expect dc to approve it but it still feels unfair for a publishing company that makes like #stories about empowering physical transformation and stress over secret identities #to reject a proposal to turn that into an explicitly trans story
