Oh mah gorsh, This is so cute!
That feeling when you want to write fanfiction, but you haven't finished the story yet.
This is the Kimba the white lion OC I made when I was like 11. His name is Zero and he's Kimba's twin who was abandoned by their mom but made it back to the jungle. Because of his tragic past he became an edgy loner who doesn't get along with the other animals and especially not Kimba. He spends most of his time brooding and stalking Kimba. Many nights were spent imagining how he would act in each episode.
So much respect. Edgy? Yes, but really well executed. Kimba's inverted color palette looks suprisingly... edgy, and nice.
if youre defending one "bad" animal by telling people that oh wait this other animal is eviler and badder or generally worser actually youre doing it wrong
I adore otters, so to mess with me a friend would point out
"oh, but they're demented little beasts"
I know bro, they still deserve affection, as a species, and I like 'em, so I'll continue doing so.
Humanized Gammamon!
Not really a big fan of humanized versions, but gosh darn, this amazing, it captures so many of Gammamon traits, and those claw sleeves are awesome!
Gammamon and Gulus
random thought: Gammamon was never told about GulusGammamon, I mean, the cast asked him about Gulus off screen in Gulus' debut, but it doesn't seem like he knows... really anything about the guy.
Consider Gammamon shares a body with Gulus, bit questionable the others can't be bothered to tell him about him.
Ghost Game incorrect quotes
Gammamon: When I was in the Digital World, Hokuto told me that the paper strip that’s in the chocolate kisses were edible and I ate them with the chocolate for a year.
Jellymon: They are!
Gammamon: FOR REAL?
Jellymon: No! Why did you fall for it again?
Double dino bro
I am now attached to that redesign of Gammamon, why artist, why must you do this to me? Give me something so amazing that I know I won't see in from anything official!?
Ghost Game's plot will pick up soon
(Spoilers up to episode 57 ahead)
The Kimba problem
What follows is a silly hypothetical dilemma which I've thought of as a result of watching Kimba the white lion(1965), though, other shows, such as the Lion King (you don't need to have watched either to understand) have made me consider it before, since, as we all know, the best source for such thoughts is putdated children's animation, anyway, here it is, hopefully it makes sense.
Imagine this scenario, you are the ruler of a small (population measuring in a couple thousand.) Kingdom, you are not tethered politically, and nothing short of a large scale revolt could deny your choices, in other words, your word is law, being you benevolent, or malevolent.
Though, your kingdom has a quirk, it's made up of animals a la Lion King or Kimba, in other words, your population is animals of all shapes or sizes, their only limit being that they must be able to conceivably live in the biome your kingdom is in, all animals (including fish) have human level sapience, and bugs either don't, or you simply can't comunicate with them, all animals can also speak a common language, but they still can succumb to animalistic urges, nad your level of advancement is very primitive in nearly all respects.
Your goals are to stay in power, create a society where your people are happy, or at least obediant, and, importantly, figure out how to feed carnivores
That final challange is what this all goes off of, how can you feasibly keep a kingdom made of predators and prey going, note, you can't just feed carnivores plants or bugs, and, unless you have some way to justify it, prey won't be happy being just hunted like in normal nature, or the Lion King.
You can choose your, AKA the hypothetical ruler's species, the terrain where your kingdom is, and most other traits of the kind, how do you do it?
Kimba the White Lion, summarised accurately
Ever hear of a show called Kimba the White Lion (particular the 1965 version) chances are, your answer's no, or, if yes, you only heard of it because of the Lion King contreversy.
That's because the show is comically obscure, but, that aside, this is a absolutely perfect summary of much of the show's events
KTWL is a cute lil show following its titular character, and monarch by blood, who's parents die within the first couple months of his life, one (his daddy) dies before he was even born
But that's alright, because he gets to rule over a jungle, despite being a actual child, no one in the show really has any issues with him being a kid ruler, so why should you?
Kimba tries to live up to the standards set by the previous king (his daddy) whom he never met, though, that's okay, because he got his dad's pelt, with which he can engage in various father-son activities, such as...
Using his father as a chair
Using his father as a blanket
Talking to his father when he's distressed
Talking to his father when he's happy
This is not weird in any way, as made clear by the show's cast and narrator, it is simply one of many normal, and, dare I say it, charming shenanigans their king gets up to.
He also tries to incorporate human customs into the jungle, notably, his father was killed by humans, and his mother died because of humans, but Kimba forgives them.
He's also vegan through shear force of will, and makes everyone elso in the jungle vegan as well, with varying levels of success.
The show has a quirky cast of buddies and baddies
Including, but not limited to.
Wise baboon adviser guy, Dan'l (pronounced as Dan, L)
Love interest for Kimba lion
Bucky
A parrot with the most parrot name possibly, Pauly cracker, everyone takes this name seriously.
Evil lion, Claw who, despite being a adult, consistently fails against a child lion, our hero, Kimba
Cassius, evil black pather follower of Claw, who may or may not rule over black colored animals, he does command hundreds of crows, and other black panthers.
And, of course, wide eyed idealist, vegan, hero, who may or may not be insane and/or traumitised, Kimba who would usually only hurt a fly out of self defense, or the defense of a friend.
The show follows the characters getting into various wacky hyjinks, such as
witnessing the genocide of hundreds of elephants
Stopping a lab created super plant made to be a weapon of war
Helping to save a poor, defensless, man eating lion.
Of course there's much more that could be talked about, but I feel this has dragged on long enough already, but who knows.
03.01.22 - delicious nutritional grass no need for meat for us carnivores source: dude trust me
Random kinda relevant stroy to this adorable art, I remember finding some fanart of Kimba rating a salad with the text "vegan" beside it, and by this point I hadn't watched much of Kimba the White Lion, so, I brushed it off as being a headcanon.
NOPE Kimba, of Kimba the White Lion 1965 is canonically vegetarian, and MAYBE vegan, honestly though, I found that both hilarious and charming.
I love Gulusgammamon cuz I’m so used to a dark digivolution being a mindless out of control kind of evolution where instead Gulus seems completely separate from Gammamon and has his own agenda (plus it will be so funny when he’s finally relaxed and cooperates with Hiro)
this is amazing, but now I'm sad 'cause we'll probably never see a interaction like this in Ghost Game...
Gammamon's relationship with spicy food
In his time in the human world Gammamon's ate, and enjoyed various kinds of food, and though he's shown to like most flavors and kinds, one is uniquely, reacurringly, despised by him
Spiciness, even less hot spicy foods, like pepper seems to have a effect on him, as shown in episode 23, and going as far as to refer to it as "scary"
The exact reason for this could simply be just Gammamon's preference, but some have theorized otherwise, and after noticing something I think there may be more to it as well.
Espimon's secret
Okay so, Espimon is looking for the "real" Hiro, because Hiro is "fake" it's a amusing lil joke and plot device.
But I have to wonder, why is he looking for the "real" Hiro at all?
Lots of Digimon were told by Hokuto to look for Hiro if they need help in the human world, and that's why they show up, well, except one, Espimon, in his debut he has no noticeable problems, nor does he mention any, just that he needs to find the "real" Hiro.
And his second appearance goes as far as having him ask "fake" Hiro for help after encountering a new problem, so... why wouldn't he just ask the person proven to be able to help him, who's also kind, and knowledgable on the human world.
Well, that's where this theory starts to pick up, I believe Espimon was specifically told to find Hiro by Hokuto, either for help with some issue unique to Hokuto and Hiro, or something else, to tell him something, to give him something, who knows.
After all, he was specifically told by Hokuto how Hiro looks (though, in Hokuto fashion the description was awful) he was even told Hiro's good at fishing, as far as we know, Espimon has been told more about Hiro than any of the other Digimon who have come to him.
It's also clear Espimon is important to the plot, so, I'm confident when Espimon finally realizes Hiro is the real one, some important development will happen.
But who knows, what are your thoughts?
I can't tell you how funny I find this, especially since it has aged like wine, and Gammamon's traumatised expression, Angoramon being mid melt down, and Jellymon's pridefulness really brings it all together
Just learned that Hokuto can refer to the constellation Big Dipper, tying him back to the heavy star themes and names of Gammamon's line.
Could have some plot relevency, but I think it's just a cute lil detail, which I for one adore.
