HENRY CAVILL âThe Witcherâ Season 3 Premiere June 28, 2023
STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION (1987-1994) âQpidâ (4.20)
So dope
This may be one of the most fascinating and attractive things I have ever seen. They IMPROVISED that?
Yes they did! God, I love Jack and Jill competitions, they are the coolest. Theyâre like the best part of a dance social (spontaneity; leaning into the lead-follow connection; the joy of dancing with different people and not just your choreography partner, so you get the same moves and steps with different style and feeling and nuance) but combined with the absolutely insane level of skill that you get when people have been dancing as amateurs and professionals for literal years.
Hereâs another, one of my favorite dance videos online. Trendlyon Veal and Robert Royston are both West Coast Swing dancers, so thereâs no crossover appeal, but look at them. LOOK AT THEM GO.
at the risk of sounding like a raving lunatic, i think one of my favorite trekkie memes/posts is that one where someone comments on a screenshot of tos and asks if sulu is texting, because it PERFECTLY encapsulates star trek's strange little place at the intersection of pop culture and the tech world:
like listen... 55+ years ago a bunch of actors had to use a mix of existing habits and wild imagination to come up with what they felt would be believable movements and muscle-memory for someone using completely unbelievable tech a few hundred years in the future. like tv had less than ten channels and the screen was a foot across, and they had to go "ok how would someone who's used to a tiny wireless gadget with a screen hold it and use it? how would they talk to a computer? how would the computer sound when she talked back?"
and over half a century later our own tech has surpassed the clunky retrofuture gizmos in so many ways, no doubt inspired by it, that now someone two decades into the 21st century sees an actor in the 60s holding some tiny rectangular plastic prop in both hands and immediately recognizes it as "oh, sulu's texting!" now THAT is a called shot. hell, that's putting your money on a roulette wheel in a casino that hasn't been built yet. i LOVE it. it's so star trek. sulu is absolutely texting.
i think if i were a jedi i would make it my life mission to make yoda angry. i would give anything to hear his little goblin voice mutter the words âthin fucking ice, you are onâ and click his little cane on the ground. i would do anything. kick him as im walking and be like âoh sorry didnt see you there.â go with him to the market and try to buy him for four credits and say âoh my bad i thought you were a head of cabbage.â raise all the chairs in the jedi temple just an inch. catch him while heâs sleeping and paint his little nails and then be like âodd that someone caught you slippin master yoda. wonder who could have done that.â leave crumbs in his seat in the jedi council. i mean i would do anything
Is there anything better than a wooden bowl??? Its beauty wholeness and comfort has yet to be conquered
THIS is the epitome of being
A Vulcan named Stork works at the Terran adoption agency. Parents always request that he be the one to deliver their child to them.
Itâs years before anyone explains it to him.
People keep gifting him robes with long white birds on them.
The fun thing is he would understand why people were getting him outfits with storks on them. That's a word, it's his name, straightforward. All the humans get him the same gag gift, but like, they're putting effort in at least. This is a genuinely nice outfit. Stork will be a walking zero-effort pun sometimes, rather than waste a perfectly fine robe.
It's fine. This is a readily comprehensible human illogic. Exactly the kind of thing he expected from moving to Earth.
Six years in he finds out about the stork bringing babies.
Stork has a good long meditation session about this myth, his name, his job, the outfits, the whole shebang (or whatever Vulcan concept is the equivalent).
And he decides heâs honored by it, in a humanly illogical way.
The humans are asking him to do what is after all his job, and specifically requesting him for the joy his name brings them on top of an already agreeable and satisfying task. He has no objection to engendering positive emotions in others. Harm hastens the heat-death of the universe, Surak teaches, so happiness must logically slow it down.Â
Plus, Vulcans of his generation love puns. There were two decades of punning competitions in colleges across the planet. So when he realizes that he is a walking zero-effort pun, and that the humans also love the pun, he is all for it. He is the Joe Cool of the entire Vulcan population in his city.Â
And via this pun, the humans are including him in a cherished and traditional myth, by casting him as the literal bringer of life and the expander of families.Â
Thereâs no downside. Stork wears his robes, pins, keychains, and other bird-related tchotchkes with genuine pride.Â
Headcanon ABSOLUTELY accepted. :)

Stiles: Put those back down.
WATCH: The Oregon Zoo in Portland was closed to the public today due to heavy snow â but the zooâs residents had a blast.
Oh my GODD THE POLAR BEAR GOT SOME SNOW HE MUST FEEL SO REFRESHED
relatable seals at the end there
âHey Joe! Joe, Joe, Joe, Joe, Joe, Joe, Joe look!!! Itâs snow!â
I need more of this shit!
Those happy elephant sounds cleared my skin and watered my crops.
The polar bear âhell nahhhh. This ainât that fake shit ! THIS AINT THAT FAKE SHIT. THIS THAT REAL SHIT!!!â
tbh though if i were mccoy iâd be pretty fucking fed up with spock too. imagine youâre a doctor, you dedicate your life to learning how care for hundreds of different life forms and species across the galaxy, and then your wife divorces you, which leads you to enlisting as a doctor for starfleet. this is WAY outside of your comfort zone, you hate adventure and youâd rather be sittin on a porch in the sun with some sweet tea in hand and your daughter on your knee, but you ainât got nowhere else to go, and who are you if you arenât a doctor? youâve dedicated your whole life and so much more to healing. so you enlist, you get assigned to a starship. not your dream job, but if thereâs one thing leonard mccoy knows how to do itâs treat patients. and then THIS MEDICAL MARVEL MOTHERFUCKER comes in with his fucked up gene spliced half human half vulcan biology and the rarest most obscure blood type even among vulcans with ZERO precedent for his existence or medical baseline and also happens to be THE WORST PATIENT IN HISTORY. REFUSES to sit still and follow instructions. always making smart ass comments about your silly human emotionalism. youâll get insane fucking readings and be like âspock i think youâre dyingâ and the bastard will answer with a straight face âyes. thatâs just pon farr.â âcan you tell me how to treat it?â âno.â and then just walks out of the fucking sickbay. youâre constantly busting your ass trying to figure out how to keep this human-alien catboy mixânâmatch medical nightmare from hell alive and healthy and all you get in return is backhanded compliments from an emotionally stunted fruit. and you canât even complain about it to your best friend because heâs too busy doodling this obstinate motherfuckerâs name all over his notebook while eye-fucking him on the middle of the bridge. hell iâd be an alcoholic too.
Today in Amusing Middle English, I came across an adjective meaning "noble" or "lovely" or "beautiful". It can also mean, in various contexts, "graceful," "lush," "splendid," "mirthful," or "majestic".
The adjective in question is "wlonk".
OMG I LOVE THIS!!! đ

Fun game: Imagine John Mulaney as Bones in any episode of Star Trek
Spock: The captain has been captured and any rescue attempt would violate the Prime Directive-
Bones:
Spock: Human emotion is most illogical.
Bones:
Scotty: The Klingons insulted the Enterprise!
Bones:
Kirk: Our best chance of escaping is if I seduce that alien.
Bones:
He gave up
