ugh we need more manipulative characters that aren’t evil. lie and cheat and steal for a good cause. control every narrative. use narcissism for justice. ruin all of your personal relationships for the good of the mission.

so so many fictional characters i love i know i would HAAAAAAAAAAAATEEEE as people. but when they are within the context of their little worlds and dealing with people that are not me i luv them
opened tumblr and this was the first thing i saw
Batman (1940) #375
I’m starting to read Cass’s stuff because I love her and I finally found a site works on my phone so now I can read in bed and I’m shitting myself why did they put her in the most “little girl” outfit ever
(I know the quality is buns but you get the idea)
Like, the pigtails too?? She’s literally just missing a comically large lollipop
…but my stomach does flip-flops knowing I’ll see Alfred soon. Alfred… and my city.
great trope
Who else but THEEE dynamic duo
Dick keeps clocking Bruce.

Things I learned about Tim Drake from my first real set of comics about him (Robin 1991):
The man throws money around
He's full of self doubt (especially about being Robin and making big moves) and will glom onto other people's quests for direction
He's a tad sanctimonious, innocent, and judgy
(I just found this panel hilarious)
He holds superheroics to a very noble and lofty standard of "goodness", but strangely doesn't mind too much that Shiva's a killer
He is committed to the no kill rule and chooses weapons with low lethality, and has mad tech skills
He assumes the best in people and sides with victims immediately
He ditches the teacher Bruce assigned for him for his own shenanigans (and gets trained by a DEA agent Clyde Rawlins and Lady Shiva!)
Side note: Tim is a outwardly non-complaining and highly patient student (see: he gets his ass kicked by everyone who teaches him, yet spends time perfecting training)
Tim is a man with a plan and easily takes charge of strategy (he's also extremely comfortable in wealthier circles and takes advantage of that)
✨️ Twinkle twinkle little star, how the hell you draw an arm ✨️
Jason bust 🥶
Arguably THE Cass pannel theyre literally father and daughter

i know some people do like the idea that jason was indeed the one who pushed garzonas but personally… i don’t. because i think that jason being innocent of this one thing— and bruce then immediately leaping to the conclusion that jason basically committed homicide as robin— that the accusation from your father over his Line and Moral Code is absolutely devastating. it’s the catalyst for all that comes after. because the trust between the two is now shattered by bruce. jason’s security with batman is compromised because now jason is grouped with the people who batman sets out to stop.
so you are 14 years old. your father thinks you killed a man. your father is Batman. you have seen what Batman does to criminals. you are witness to the sorts of brutality Batman is capable of. you are not safe. you believe that the odds are that a random woman you have never met is better than Batman who thinks you are not only capable of killing but believed— even if momentarily— that you did. you run off and away from the man who could, would and had assumed The Worst of you. you meet this woman, she seems okay. you do not have the full picture. she is actually one of the people batman has grouped you with. she sells you out to a villain who has committed The Worst a hundred times over. you die. you later become what your father accused you of.
read the diplomat's son again and god. this is. the comic ever because jim starlin really wrote a comic in which jason witnesses firsthand the failures of the system and how sometimes they just straight up dont work and fail the victims and like. it's the perfect setup for perhaps developing themes of class and systemic injustice and perhaps it might be even setting up jason to reckon with his role as robin and perhaps how he contributes to a system that fails people like him Consistently but no the takeaway jim starlin wants you to come away with is "isn't this kid so evil and stupid and reckless. dont you want him dead" and its like. dude idgaf about that can we please talk about the systemic failures. anybody in here wanna discuss the systemic failures. anyone.
i also have More Thoughts on how tds centers felipe's death as "more important" than gloria's but i cannot get into that right now it's nearly 2am
