wanting to dismantle beauty standards but also defining yourself by them
kinda funny when english teachers say stuff likeĀ āi can tell if you didnt read the bookā orĀ āi can tell when people bs their paperā
no you cant. Ā you can tell when people are bad at bs-ing their paper. Ā i didnt even read the sparknotes and i barely skimmed the wikipedia and you gave me an A. Ā you kneel before my throne unaware that it was born of lies
there comes a time when youāll have to stop basing your morals on the laws of society because not all of these laws are meant to protect the vulnerable people but to exploit
So someone pointed out to me recently that in a few years, maybe a few decades, the history of the us during covid is probably going to get twisted. The fact that we all had to make and wear cloth masks is going to be hailed as a symbol of how we ā"came together as a nationāāā or whatever the fuck propaganda spin they try to put on it.
So I just want to say, for the record, the time of the corona virus pandemic was not a time when america came together.
This was a time when people hoarded toilet paper and sanitizing supplies either for themselves or to sell at absurd prices to the desperate people who didnāt get to the store soon enough during the shortages
This was a time when scared parents were sending their kids to finish school in the spring in plastic trash bags because they couldnāt think of any other way to possibly keep their families safe
This was a time when grocery store and retail and service workers were forced to keep working whether they wanted to risk their health or not because they couldnāt make rent otherwise and the people with enough privilege to have remote jobs tried to repay them with applause instead of fair wages
This was a time when nurses had the hold the hands of multiple dying people every day as their families watched their loved ones die over a video call because the hospital couldnāt risk having visitors
This was a time when city governments had to handle so many eviction hearings that they rented out convention centers and called in the national guard instead of doing a rent freeze to stop predatory landlords
This was a time when racism and police brutality were so unbearably horrible that people protested in the streets for months even though there was a god damn pandemic that our federal government wasnāt doing shit to stop and the cops were so mad that they were being asked to stop beating up black people that they were beating up everyone
This was a time when schools being forced to reopen in the fall or lose their federal funding had to draft templates for letters if a teacher or a staff person or a fucking child died from exposure to corona at school
This was a time when the president of the United states demanded that the cdc stop releasing data about all the people who were dying because of the warnings he ignored for months were making him look bad
This was a time when some state governments didnāt mandate masks and forced businesses to reopen because they didnāt want to pay unemployment to people trying to stay safe at home anymore
This was a time when Jeff Bezos was on track to be a fucking trillionare because everyone was ordering things on amazon instead of going to the store and the people he worked to death to get it didnāt see a single cent of it
This was a time when instead of providing homeless people with housing, we painted boxes on the ground to show homeless people how far away the had to be on the street to maintain social distancing
We did not come together to make cloth masks. Cloth masks represent nothing less than the absolute and utter failure of a nationās government to inform and protect its citizens
This was not a time when we came together. This was a time when we survived, and not all of us made it.
This was a time when people casually talked about how many human lives the economy was worth without considering the evil that had just come out of their mouths.
This was a time when thousands of us died for profit and the ego of a cheating narcissists con man who scammed his way into the white house
This was a time that we survived. Most of us tried to do the right thing, stay home, limit trips to the store and socializing, wear a mask. And still, so many of us were lost. Thousands every day.
But that wasnāt a good enough reason for some people, for those among us who were too selfish to recognize the responsibilities we have toward one another as human beings.
This was not a time that we came together
This was a time that we survived
Not all of us made it
And those of us who did survive will never forget the evil we saw daily in our politicians and those around us

If you wouldn't go to someone for advice, don't take their criticism either.
Wait whoa
op woke up and chose logic today and idk how i feel about that
Let me show you one of my favorite images on the internet: nuns performing āexorcismā on a very patient punk dude
Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1dbXr3GikQE
Haha
Little do they know, punk guys are the closest thing we have to angels
thats adorable
He justā¦..pats her hand.
Like āyour doing great, keep it up.ā
Like, heās not even upset, heās taking it with stride and amusement and I love him for that.
Punks are sweethearts.
you can clearly see him trying to invert her cross thats so funny
Just a heads up, this sināt an exorcism, Nuns cannot do them and more so, they cannot be done in public. They are, in fact, blessing him
Omgg that is so much better thank you
THIS POST JUST GOT THOUSANDS OF TIMES BETTER
The inverted cross, or Petrine Cross, is a symbol of Saint Peter. He felt unworthy of dying the same way as Jesus, and asked to be crucified upside-down instead. To this day, the Vatican uses the inverted cross as a respectful holy symbol.
Atheists resigned!
Something to think about:
The Earth is 4.6 billion years old. Letās scale that to 46 years. We have been here for 4 hours. Our industrial revolution began 1 minute ago. In that time, we have destroyed more than 50% of the worldās forests.
This isnāt sustainable.
Iāve been thinking a lot about my old cleaning job lately so hereās a list of dumb shit I saw in rich peopleās houses:
motion activated toilets - every time you so much as looked at them the seat would lift and it would start spraying like, disinfectant or smthing
A two-story walk-in closet
an on-suite home movie theatre located between the master bedroom and its bathroom
separate his-and-her on-suite bathrooms. As in two different bathrooms, one forĀ āhimā, one forĀ āherā.Ā
the literal ugliest decoration ie; a huge ass piece of quartz just. chained to the wall. Like industrial chained to the wall.Ā
so many marble countertops with coffee mug rims (fun fact! marble is extremely porous!)
a single woman in her 20ā²s living in a 3ā²000 sq ft house which was always already clean because she only used three rooms- rec room, bedroom, and the second bedroom which acted as an extended closet, and the kitchen is not on this list because instead of cooking her mother, who lived across the lane in a 6ā²000 sq ft house, would just send the private chef over with meals for her.Ā
the aforementioned 6ā²000 sq ft house which had 6 different sitting rooms, two of which used to be what looked like a gorgeous patio and balcony which some fucker enclosed because for some fucking reason they thought this house needed more fucking sitting rooms.Ā
many, many childrenās rooms that were clearly designed more for aesthetic than for children to exist in.Ā
A 60 sq ft shower
a broken smart home system that wouldnāt let anyone open the blinds.
A half furnished vacation apartment we had to pretend to clean every month for its absentee owner
an apartment absolutely fucking covered in animal furs and horns. Like almost wall to wall dead animal skins.Ā Zebras, goats, wolves, I think a caribou, beavers, so many fucking bears, including a polar bear cub.Ā Anything that could be made of horns was made of horns. There was literally a wreath made of dear antlers. So many fur coats. I had to vacuum a bear and Iāve never been the same.Ā
a shelf full of vegan cookbooks, in the apartment mentioned above.Ā
Anyways, skin the rich and vacuum their sins away; godspeed to any cleaning staff in this trying time.Ā
do-you-sea-whatididthereĀ
#ā¦I wanna see the shower
Itās actually not all that interesting
[Image description: a line drawing of a smallish room. The right wall is half glass with a glass shower door; a showerhead and nobs are on the far wall. The left wall has a bench and the floor has a shower drain. A small cartoon woman sprays the ground with a hand shower with a bored expression. End description.]
So pretty much just a room, but with a drain and shower nozzle right in the wall. The thing about most of these places is the idea of them is a lot cooler in theory than practice. Like the marble countertops; sure marble is the Best And Most Expensive, but itās just not practical. No oneās ever gonna need a shower that can fit ten grown adults. The people with the two-story coset never used the upper floor. The woman with the 3k sq ft house had a whole finished basement the sie of a decent apartment, and it was completely empty. She didnāt even use it for storage.Ā
Before I took this job I used to dream of having a huge house- huge enough to get lost in. But now that Iāve seen these kinds of homes I can assure you theyāre nothing special. All they do is waste space and gather dust, and the people who own them donāt even have the decency to care for them themselves.Ā
If all of this ever ends, I hope the time theses rich people spent without cleaning staff makes them really appreciate domestic workers; but I wouldnāt bet on it.Ā
[Image description: A line drawing of a the woman from the first picture, vacuuming a bearskin rug. The rug says,Ā āRemember, they would grant you no greater dignity.ā End description.]
Zuko who spent years at sea with sailors: *stubs his toe* āOw! Fucking son of a bitch, motherfucking god-fuck fuck fuck. Holy-ā
Aang:
Know your roses guys Or you just might fuck up the moment
and you dont want to do that ._.Ā

tired of your boring old regular depression? try DOUBLE DEPRESSION
Thanks! I hate it
Iāve never actually seen what it looked like before Mt. Rushmoreā¦itās so saddening.

you know what really gets me about this? thereās a photograph. people think the genocide of indigenous people was centuries ago, but here is proof that it happened when photographs were existent. proof that white imperialism was alive and kicking when photographing things was available. while the original events were longer ago than the carving, the defacing of sacred land is still happening.
Favorite part is how itās never mentioned how itās a sacred place in school textbooks
wild how like PCOS, endometriosis, vaginismus & hell, even frequent yeast infections are āmysteriousā with no well known cause and little to no decent treatment, but we have tons of supposedly well researched body fat removal methods, about 20 different kinds of breast implants, laser hair removal, and 100 different dermatologist recommended anti aging creams. we sure had the money and brainpower to cure those ādiseasesā
EVERY WORD HERE Ā šš¼šš¼šš¼ IS TRUE. YOU ARE THAT FROG.Ā
I too have no space to worry about USA, already very worried about Poland and Ecuador, thank goodness Canada is still somehow holding up, but Iām horrified how far you let it go. FIX IT NOW or youāll be sorry Ā - truer words were never spoken.Ā
Beware of requests for compromise when you are asking for justice and the other side is asking for consent to continue.
Most of the medical research was done on white males and their response to medicine. This is why medical books should only serve as a framework but clinical expertise matters more.
And this is why we need more black doctors.
There is a great instagram called Brown Skin MattersĀ that has certified photos of different rashes and skin conditions. I find this VERY helpful. I just recently stumbled on it and itās a nice, quick, resource.Ā
This is what they mean when they say weāre killing people of color. Our healthcare system caters to white skin. And it needs to change.
