Hello humans of Tumblr, this is my TMNT sideblog! From now on most of my TMNT content will be posted here! Also, like I said in my main blog, I'm a 25, White, AuDHD, CPTSD, Transmasc NB, Bisexual, System, and an Ex-Christian Agnostic Atheist! TCESTERS/PROSHIPPERS DNI!!! Also Leorai Shippers, Rise Apritello Shippers, Casey-Marie Jones Stans/Kinnies, Bayverse Splinter Stans/Kinnies, 2012 Chris Bradford Stans/Kinnies, 2012 Stans Who Think The Show Is Amazingly Perfect, Adults Who Are Attracted To The Turtles(& Other Canon Minors), and People Who Sexualize The Turtles(& Other Canon Minors)! My favorite iteration of TMNT is Rise of the TMNT, so it's what I'll talk about the most! But I'll also talk about: TMNT 1987, The 90s Movies, TMNT 2003, The 2007 Movie, TMNT 2012, The Bayverse, Batman vs TMNT, The Last Ronin, and Mutant Mayhem/Tales of the TMNT! My favorite characters are Rise Leo, Rise Donnie, Rise Mikey, Rise Raph, Rise April, Casey Jr, 2012 Mikey, MM Mikey, 1987 Mikey, and 03 Mikey! If you couldn't tell, Mikey is normally my favorite Turtle in any iteration(except Bayverse cause they made him a creep)! My next favorites are Donnie and Leo, and Raph is in last place! My least favorite characters are Casey-Marie Jones, 2012 Bradford/Dogpound/Rahzar, Bayverse Splinter, and Bayverse Mikey! Casey-Marie because she created and is raising child soldiers but isn't called out for it even though other characters who do such things(eg. Draxum) are, 2012 Bradford cause he basically groomed Mikey, Bay Splinter because he's a shitty parent, and Bay Mikey cause he's a creep to April and they ruined my favorite Turtle! I have an attachment to the 2012 show(especially 2012 Mikey) for nostalgia reasons, but I think that TMNT 2012 is a very flawed show and am critical of it despite my love for it! I'm sorry!

This might be unpopular, but I don’t like those Rise/2012 crossover fics where the Rise Turtles go around brutally murdering the 2012 Kraang

Basically, I think it’s fucked up how so many fics portray the Rise Turtles as these super-violent assholes who go around brutally murdering other-universes’ Krang/Kraang/Utroms, especially since they’re typically portrayed as like “misunderstood heroes” in those fics. This is for a number of reasons, including:

1. I personally don’t like when mindless mass-murder is portrayed heroically like this, including when it’s done to sapient/selfaware nonhuman species(like the Kraang/Utroms). I just think it’s fucked-up, especially when it’s done because they are their group/species rather than because of any actions they might have done. I’m not opposed to murder in fiction, and even find it cathartic when it’s awful people being murdered for the fucked-up shit that they’ve done; I just don’t like when murder is done because the person is a certain group(or in this case species), especially when the murderer is portrayed as sympathetic and/or heroic for it(which also reminds me too much of shit i went through in another fandom).

2. It also makes the Turtles look bad, even if you don’t care about the Kraang or the morality of fictional murder. They act like violent monsters in some of these fics, especially the ones where they don’t even have specific Kraang they’re targeting(eg. 2012 Krang Prime or Kraang Subprime) and instead they’re just butchering the whole species. They are literally acting like villains, like straight-up they’re treating the Kraang exactly like Draxum tried to treat Humanity before his redemption arc and like Newtralizer actually did treat the Kraang/Utroms! The Turtles are supposed to be heroes in most of these fics(though i will acknowledge that some of them are AUs where the Turtles were at least partially raised by Draxum, and are thus more violent and warlike, but even in those they’re still basically considered ‘misunderstood traumatized heroes’)!

3. I do have Rise Krang alters, and they are nice and aren’t evil like their source characters, and so they don’t like seeing their kind be so evil or have such fucked-up things done to them. Call me biased, but it’s true. However, I also have alters of the Turtles, and they don’t like seeing themselves being portrayed as violent assholes either, even if they do get why the fictional turtles have the trauma they do.

4. I find it interesting that there aren’t any Rise/2003 crossover fics where the Rise Turtles attack the 2003 Utroms the way they do the 2012 Kraang in these fics, and are called out for it. I also noticed that none of the Rise/2012 fics really bring up the 2012 Utroms and how most of the 2012 Kraang are literally being mind-controlled by 2012 Kraang Prime(and are thus not in control of their actions!). Obviously it’s because they want the Turtles to look better, so they only have them go all Punisher on the villainous Kraang/Krang/Utroms; but even knowing that, it still annoys me that they make these fics and the AU Rise Turtles are never truly called out on it narratively(if they get called out, it’s by characters who are meant to be assholes and/or misunderstanding things, and it is done to make the AU Rise Turtles into the victims and misunderstood heroes)

I always thought that the first thing the Rise Turtles would do when interacting with the Krang/Kraang/Utrom from other universes would be to have a panic attack when they see how many there are (thinking they're as deadly as those in their universe) (I'm not saying that, idk 12 krang aren't deadly, but they aren't in the same level)

Maybe they smash one or another for the fear, but i don't think they will get in a assassin machine mod

I’ve seen some people compare Casey Jones Jr. from ROTTMNT with Casey-Marie Jones from The Last Ronin, for obvious reasons, and I just don’t think the two would get along; specifically I don’t think that Casey Jr.(who I’ll be calling CJ from now on to avoid confusion) would like or pal around with Casey-Marie.

RISE MOVIE & LAST RONIN COMIC SPOILERS BELOW!!!

CJ was raised in an apocalyptic hellscape of a world, and because of that he was forced to grow up young and learn how to fight from a young age. His mom and the Turtles taught him to fight from a young age, not because they wanted to, but because they literally had no other choice if they wanted him to survive in a world torn apart by both an alien invasion and zombies created by said aliens. They also didn’t have CJ to use him as a soldier, but because he was their kid and they loved him.

Casey-Marie was also raised in a world at war, and had to grow up young and was taught to fight from a young age. However, after the end of the original Last Ronin comic series, she created children for the express purpose of training them to fight and making them be her soldiers in the gang wars that erupted after the Foot’s destruction. The threat they were facing was nowhere near the threat that CJ and his family faced in their timeline, and I personally think that human gangsters just aren’t enough of a threat to even begin to ‘justify’ the creation of child soldiers. Also, if they had to have mutants, why not get adult volunteers from the Resistance and mutate them? They’d already be combat trained, and they’d have a leg in the game!

I think that if the two met, and CJ found out about the New Turtles and Casey-Marie’s plans for them, he would be horrified! He would be furious that a ‘version of himself’ would create children for the express purpose of raising them like both of them were raised, especially since the threat they were being trained to fight pales in comparison to the apocalypse he grew up in. He would never justify that, or consider it normal or cool or fine and dandy. In fact, I bet he’d take the New Turtles from her and bring them with him back to his world, so that the past/present Turtle Fam could help him raise them as actual children, far away from wars that aren’t theirs and people who only see them as weapons.
