To survival.
I have a terribly angsty headcanon that Rocky does have long term damage from the radiation he was exposed to. If Eridians can get cancer, he probably does. The astrophage only protected him so much.
I don’t know how advanced their medicine is, so maybe they could do something for him, but I imagine the damage is already done. He wakes up one day, lethargic and in pain. He’s barely making it to Grace’s dome anymore without seeming exhausted.
I imagine Adrian asks for help from Grace, realizing that something is very, very wrong. Even with all the best Eridian minds working on it, Rocky’s condition just gets worse.
I think that Rocky and Grace pass away around the same time. Rocky passes first, and Grace not too long after. A long life for a human, a tragically short one for an Eridian. But both heroes are laid to rest together.
I think Rocky named Grace ‘Dumbass’ or ‘Idiot’ or something and then just never changed it. Then when they get to Erid he’s so used to calling his alien friend ‘Shithead Moron’ that when he introduces him to a large crowd they’re all like ‘woah man what the fuck’ and ‘that’s not nice!’ and ‘you can’t say that bro that’s too mean’ and Rocky has to awkwardly explain to Grace why they’re upset. Grace, who is now very familiar with Rocky’s standard vocabulary, laughs until he is crying on the floor and can’t breath, which makes all the other Eridians panic while Rocky stands there yelling at Grace that it’s not that funny asshole.

My favorite headcanon is Kaya spent way too much time with Uncle Zuko and it shows.
She was definitely taking notes from him. From the hairstyle to the facial expressions (and I’ve gathered plenty of screenshot proof). 😄
The new art of young Kaya II from her solo comic, along with the leaked footage from the upcoming "The Legend of Aang" movie, has officially convinced me of one incredibly precious detail.
Have you noticed Kaya’s hairstyle? Look closely at those loose side-bangs and the way her hair is framed. Now look at Uncle Zuko.
This is now my official headcanon: Zuko, our favorite dutiful 'girl dad', used to braid young Kaya's hair when she was a kid because it was the only hairstyle he actually knew how to do by himself!
He probably just learned a simple, practical style that also happened to be traditional in the Fire Nation, and little Kaya loved it so much that she decided to stick with it.
Young Kaya to Elder Kaya: Consistently pulls her hair back and leaves those long side-bangs. This is pure Zuko (or even young Azula) aesthetic. It is a very distinct fashion marker of the Fire Nation.
It’s so interesting how Kaya completely avoids traditional Water Tribe hairstyles for some reason. Water Tribe hair is always all about intricate braids, elaborate twists, ponytails, and a bunch of authentic accessories like blue beads, ribbons or hair wraps.
This isn't a traditional Water Tribe style at all. It is uniquely Uncle Zuko's style. He was the closest family friend, and this detail basically screams that he was that "cool uncle" who spent a lot of time babysitting the kids.
Uncle Zuko hairstyle… and fighting style.
The facial expression identity between these two characters just amuses me so much😅:
I just can't stop comparing screenshots of these two. I have no idea how much time Zuko spent with this family for their daughter to completely pick up his facial expressions.
Either that, or I have a very serious question for Katara.😏
opened the comments on a post and tumblr somehow had a half written comment already autofilled from the last time I saw that post. which was at least two years and several computers ago. what does this site's back end look like
tumblr is going to gain sentience 100 years before any fuckass genAI comes close. this site runs on mold spores.
The way that Dónal Finn sings this song, hits me deep in my chest. I'm still not over it. God, what agony.
my fave writing reminder
honestly, this phrase has been on my mind more times than i can count. i've kidnapped it, taken it as a hostage with no ransom money because i need it to live permanently in my head.
text: [ “Some of you have forgotten that only three years ago you were perfectly capable of writing an essay, writing a eulogy, telling a bedtime story to a child, and it should worry you that powerful companies have convinced us we can’t do things we’ve been doing for 5000 years.” ]
And they're absolutely specifically pushing it, make no mistake. It's not just a matter of "it's there, it's convenient, so people are going to take the path of the least resistance", it is a legitimate and concerted effort on the part of these companies to get people to outsource all these things to their models.
They're preying on insecurities to do it. Yes, you can write an essay - but can you write a good essay, they ask you. Do you not want to improve your output? Do you not want people to think of you as competent and very clever? Why go through the mortifying process of failing and failing and failing until you succeed if you can just skip the "learning" part of doing, and simply generate a ready-made product?
I'm preaching to the choir here obviously but it's a concerning thing to witness nonetheless. My kid is 6 next week and I've been teaching her that failing at things is morally neutral and in fact necessary even before the advent of AI, but it's becoming ever more important that we teach the kids that criticism and failure and discomfort aren't necessarily bad things, but just a part of the growth process.
AI companies are heavily invested in making themselves relevant. They want people to believe they can't do the things they have done unaided before and to make them become reliant on the AI models, so the AI models' existence is artificially justified.
A German regional court has ruled that Google is directly liable for the content of its AI search overviews. According to the court, previou
Let’s fucking go
This is HUGE.
1. The court holds Google responsible for statements made by its AI, considering them Google's statements (search engines have limited liability for results in their engine as they're the words of other sites/companies/people), meaning when their AI lies/hallucinates they're liable for the defamation/harm resulting from those statements.
2. Google's defense that customers are generally aware of the lack of reliability and are responsible for fact checking was dismissed. As the court pointed out, that would "significantly diminish" AI Search's stated purpose and it can't be distinguished from Google's business practices/statements as a search tool.
3. Studies have found about 91% of Google's everyday AI responses are accurate, leaving millions of searches per HOUR with potential liability for falsehoods. 56% of correct responses weren't supported by the sources the AI listed. Both of which mean Google is now liable for a LOT more AI "errors."
4. Google was held liable for 80% of court costs in this case and this precedent is expected to reverberate around the world. This is a massive shift from the 3rd-party search provider role Google has previously played and it comes right as they've tied ALL searches to their AI search.
TL;DR Google reeeeeally stepped in it this time.
5. If the words are Google's, this solidifies the position of universities who demand that all answers from AI are fully cited. If all the in-line citations now have to be (Google, 2026), that's going to make it obvious when someone's trying to use Google as a source. There's still the difficulty with people who are academically dishonest by trying to pass off the AI writing as their own. 6. 91% accuracy is officially too low to use as a source of references, which means the AI can't be used as a source of references either. This makes it less legitimate for such purposes than Wikipedia of all places (Wikipedia might need date/time proof of when it was accessed for the reference to be valid, but at least it is possible to prove the link existed at a particular date and time). 7. This will help encourage the rollout of courses on how to avoid AI search for students who need academic accuracy, because it's statistically not good enough to use. 8. This strengthens the case intellectual property authors have against Google in the EU, as this is proof that an intellectual property transfer took place.
HUH?

Bridgerton hot people: *busy making out in various gazebos and library locations*
Me, watching: is this estate entailed or under a strict settlement? If it’s the product of a strict settlement, how was that disclosed to the viscount given he was of minority age (and thus barred from contracting) at his father’s death? Did he later perpetuate the strict settlement in his lineal favor despite having zero obligation to do so given that he now stands as legal fee tail owner? Maybe he just saw it as a way to perpetuate the power of the family and bar against less successful descendants wasting the estate resource, all at the direct, deliberate expense of barring his siblings and their families from a landed inheritance? If that’s the case, why are the younger Bridgerton sons such desirable matches among the gentry?? But maybe that’s not an issue, since all of his younger brothers seemingly have independent allowance, and if that’s generated from the family estate, this must be a strict settlement with a life estate income provision for siblings - def NOT an entailment. Is that why these younger brothers are considered good matches despite being unlanded untitled gentlemen in need of professions? Or maybe their mother’s marriage settlement provided for their independent allowance should their father die?? Are they to obtain their own property without title???
Bridgerton hot people: *have now actively started getting down in said gazebos and library locations*
Me, flipping through a facsimile of a 1788 English law textbook: on that note, why are the featheringtons kicked out of what appears to be an owned home by a male cousin upon their father’s death? Was their estate a strict settlement that benefited a cousin instead of a descendant?? Why would their grandfather force their father to settle away from his own descendancy line, with no allowance or dowry provided for the girls? But if it’s entailed and thus out of their hands (also explaining the lack of allowance), why didn’t their father employ common recovery to undo the entailment???
Bridgerton hot people, looking at me through the television: lady, you realize this show is just cosplay **** with extra steps, right?
