“Hello! You must be Juno.” She heard a voice call out to her and time seemed to slow to a crawl. The voice was velvety like a warm blanket on a cold night and rose above the noise of the forest as if they were the only two people there. Juno’s head turned as she saw a woman waving, backlit by the sun and smiling broadly. Her fiery hair seemed haloed by the sun and her green eyes took Juno’s breath away. “I’m Robin, the local carpenter. Mayor Lewis sent me here to fetch you and show you the way to your new home. He’s there right now, tidying things up for your arrival.”

Juno’s heart started to beat again and she remembered how to walk as she made her way towards Robin, “Hi, it’s nice to meet you, Robin.” She barely managed to say, offering her hand to Robin and the other woman took it firmly in her wood weathered hands. Juno’s brain imagined for a moment the way Robin must work for her hands to feel the way they did, the muscles she must have and the strength hidden beneath her cute yellow shirt and brown vest.

Robin’s smile in return was genuine and after a second too long she took her hand back and tucked a lock of hair behind her ear. “It’s a pleasure, Juno. The farm’s right over here, if you’ll follow me.”

I guess as an update I'm currently working on chapter 5. Basically just writing whenever I get the chance and trying not to pressure myself about it. My current goal is 5 minutes a day, and more if I'm in the mood and have the time.

Earlier my little sister slammed her closet and room door-- not out of anger as far as im aware, she just pushed them too hard. I yelled at her to stop it.

she said she would, but it was clear from her tone she just said so out of obligation and was annoyed. i tell her to stop making loud noises a lot, so she probably assumed this was just another example of that.

realizing this, i explained her the reason: our rooms are right next to each other. When she slams doors, the wall shakes. When the wall shakes, my mirror shakes, and if it shakes too hard it can fall and break

after the explanation, she apologized genuinely and actually understood the reason instead of just thinking im nagging her or just want quiet. the fact that she knows the reason means shes more likely to remember, and she can apply the knowledge in different ways: "even if my older sibling isnt home, their mirror could still break, so i still shouldnt slam the door." She knows im not just trying to annoy her or assert dominance over her like a lot of rules and demands we give to children do- i just dont want my mirror to break. It helps her understand cause and effect.

Would this result be the same if i had just screamed at her or spanked her? Or did it make more sense to just explain? After all, it was a simple mistake. I could see my parents doing the same thing-- when you close a door, youre not usually thinking about the walls in the other room.

Children are humans, humans use logic. Use logic with children. Its simple.

The amount of transphobes that just don't know anything about swords or fencing is fucking killing me. Firstly, alot of fencing competitions are gender neutral. Secondly even if someone who did have a massive strength advantage entered a fencing competition that still wouldn't help them too much because a duel with swords is very rarely decided on strength. It doesn't matter how strong you are, if your opponent hits you that's a point for them. Fencing is won entirely by fucking knowing how to fence, shockingly.

Also, anybody commenting "Why is her hair greasy. She needs to wash her hair" needs to step outside the house like atleast once in their life. Girl just won a fencing competition and she was wearing one of these 👇 the whole time
