Strange and Wonderful - Release!

Hi everyone! At last, today's the day for me to release Strange and Wonderful, my ASGZC exophilia fanfiction anthology, aka a lot of one shots about at least two of the characters, and in every story someone gets to be a monster of some kind. We have both PG-13 and NC17 collections, so you can have whatever floats your both in terms of spiciness! The fics are all written by me, but with amazing cover art of Gemsom and @nagoo!

when i was a tiny baby queer (aka a 24-year-old), i went to my first pride festival probably three months after i kicked ex-gay therapy to the curb and came out to my parents. being the people they are, my parents came with me. they weren’t really sure about this whole gay thing, but they loved me and wanted me to be safe and happy and wanted to be involved in what was important to me, so they came along. (i also think my mother still might have thought i might get drugged or murdered or beaten by a protester of which there were plenty.)

anyway i wanted a memento of my first pride, you know, and this one vendor was selling keyrings, and i liked it, so i bought one. do you remember those italian charm bracelets that were all the rage like 10-15 years ago? it was a keychain like that, and it had a rainbow rooster, a rainbow cat, and then just a rainbow, and so I bought it.

i run into my mom a couple of vendors over and she goes oh you bought something? what’d you get? so i showed her, and i was like, “I’m not sure why it’s a rooster and a cat. Seems kind of random. But I liked the rainbows.”

and my mom, who was some form of minister’s wife for most of my childhood and teenagerhood, stares at me like she thinks i’m joking.

“What?” i say.

“…it’s a cock and a pussy, Jules,” she says flatly, and that is the story of how i died at the age of 24 while attending my first pride festival.

Wondering about that list of names that is between the pictures of the SM-8 because who were they. They could be the crew of the SM-8 but there's 33 of them, would the COI have risked 33 whole people on a single mission? How big was the SM-8 even? Bigger than the SM-13 maybe but not enough for 33 people to fit (if you look at the SM-8 pictures there's what looks like a ladder on one side and using that for scale it doesn't look too big). Was it the list of the people on the AT-5 mission, in general? So Ava and Jack and David are also listed among those names?

Also all of them have their blood type listed except number 21, Coleman. He's listed as specialist but only has a \ there. Weird that they would test everyone else but not him. Unless they decided it wasn't important enough to do it, like if Coleman got injured they would not waste resources on him (kind of funny that blood for transfusions is still a limited resource on blood ocean moon). Another convict maybe? Specialist seems vague enough as a job description, it could very well be a nicer way to say fucker who gets to pilot the hell sub.

There's also the chance that they were people who got lost to the blood ocean before SM-8 started searching, but I doubt it. 33 people is a lot to lose with the COI's limited resources, even if they were all convicts, and this would be before the SM-8's mission so add at least two other people to that count. Even if we know a lot of people must have died down there (see: are all the limbs on the eel's tails individual people?) it feels reckless to lose so many. Plus there would be no point sending solderers and engineers down there

The concept of the Red-Eyed God simply wishing to cherish Simon as some kind of sick and twisted belonging its in own domain, but it had to strip him of his flesh in order to do so, fucks me up so bad.

Because, what do you mean, it wanted help him, turn him into a creature worthy of surviving such terrible conditions at the bottom of a trench, but it had to strip Simon of everything he was to do so? What do you mean a God's love is also agony and that they are one and the same? Mark? Hello???

It wanted him to be more like it. To be remade in its image into something it deemed glorious. It saw a monster by human standards and believed Simon to be more like it than them, and thus made it so. Made him god-like. Remade him into the only God it ever saw humans worship. The Tree.

The way it couldn't stop tasting a new mind on its tongue like he was a prized possession to keep. How he was another body to put on display among bones.

The Red-Eyed God meaning, "I see you. I love you. I know you. You will live, but I cannot save you unchanged." Because he couldn't be saved by the God of Monsters and remain human.

One of the compelling things about Project Hail Mary is that you can't fix it.

If the Taomoeba hadn't escaped then Grace would have never seen his best friend again. Returning to a world he loves but no longer recognizes.

If the stars weren't dying then Grace never would have met his best friend at all. Living content but alone.

Project Hail Mary is a hopeful story. It is a story of friendship and what it means to be brave. It's a story about saving the world.

But you can't remove the tragedy of the story without making it unrecognizable. It's written into the bones.
