Hi there~! I'm Kitty, a beauty associate at Unova Beauty, your one stop shop for all things beauty~! I'm 27 and my pronouns are she/her <3

This rotomblr is going to be dedicated to talking about me and my Service Espeon King's many adventures in the retail sphere!

I don't battle much, just casual ones with friends here and there. My Pokémon are more for companionship~!

My Pokémon:

King - Espeon, male, Service Pokémon- First ever Pokémon~! I got him as an Eevee as a high school graduation gift! He's the bestest boy and I love him so much. He's my Service Pokemon trained to help with my anxiety and chronic pain.

Divi - Shiny Audino, female - My second ever Pokémon! She found me while I was sitting in the middle of a field stressing about an assignment for one of my college classes. True story: I didn't even know she was a rare coloring until I met a Pokémon expert after college and he told me that he'd only seen one other one

Aella - Purrloin, female - My newest girl! She picked me, not the other way around. She's a little mean and a tad possessive of me but we're working on it!

My name is Kat and I follow back from @xo-meow!

Some notes:

I do actually work at a beauty store, but I'm not an expert and neither is Kitty. She and I know a lot but it's all on the job training, not formal education so it's subject to error.

I'm not a superfan or anything, but I do enjoy the games and the anime whenever I can watch it. I'm currently playing Shield with plans to pre-order Legends: Z-A. This also means that my Pokémon knowledge is subject to error.

Any photos of Kitty will be created with Sims 4 because I have the drawing talent of a 5-year-old <3

I would be surprised if there were clippers strong enough to get through Chai's fur. As it is, I've already gone through a handful of brushes since they break every few months. But the last thing I want is for her to get matted, and just helping her shed the old fur goes far in keeping her cool. That and our regular trips to the pokemon water park.

I am curious though, what role does their fur have in keeping them cool exactly? Is it Lycanroc specific, or common amongst furred pokemon in general?

It applies to any double-coated Pokémon specifically! A double coat helps greatly with thermoregulation specifically by locking out UV rays and keeping in away from the skin as well as allowing cool air to flow through!

It is very important to keep them properly groomed, but shaving them can actually have adverse effects as the UV rays and heat can reach down to the skin without the fur in the way.

I'm no expert, so I might not be explaining it the right way, but it's how it was explained to me (by another customer who is a Pokémon groomer and was ranting about it 😅)

Just because we allow some Pokémon in our store doesn’t mean you can let them run wild 😭 I just had a Lillipup pee on the floor and the customer did nothing to even acknowledge it! Like come on!! (At least it was a Pokémon this time and not a child 😶)

Some pokémon need their coat trimmed, but it's very rare, and they were usually bred this way. Some trainers fail to do basic research on pokemon they train and it's pathetic

I agree! Its so frustrating how little research some trainers do on the Pokémon that are under their care. It's really not that hard to do a quick search or talk to your neighborhood PokéCenter!

As a retail associate at Unova Beauty, please stop asking me if you can use our human hair dye on your Mareep/Flaaffy. For one, electricity + chemicals is usually not the best combo to play around with especially if you don't know what you're doing. For two, they make Pokémon safe dyes!

The amount of people who try to use human hair dye on their pokemon is astronomical for some reason. And human shampoo too! Just because it’s safe for humans doesn’t mean it’s safe for pókemon!

The shampoo!! There are so many ingredients that are too harsh for Pokémon. We only carry like one that you can apparently use on both humans and Pokémon but I'm not sure I believe it.

And honestly, it's usually customers returning it because it ruined their hair, not their Pokémon 😶

Hopefully, if enough customers complain, they'll pull it quickly! I always tell customers to complain to the company whenever a product damages their hair!

Any advice on getting a service mon that's properly trained for the job? Or any advice from experience starting out with King? I've been tossing the idea around in my head for a bit now on account of my.... recent blindness.

I would definitely check the resources in your area! When my anxiety got really bad, I already had King and even as an Eevee he was pretty perceptive. I just reached out to a service Pokémon trainer in my area and they were more than happy to help train him ^-^

As for already trained, sometimes that's a little harder to find but definitely worth searching. Most big cities have some sort of training facility for service Pokémon! I think there are even specific facilities for Seeing Eye Pokémon that would be good to check into!

A good place to start for everything is your local Pokémon Center! They usually have information on how to get started with the whole process. Or even a Pokémon vet?? I know they're not as popular but they'd definitely have the info too!

I hope you can find one that helps you! King's presence has been game-changing for me.

All of my customer posts so far have been negative so here’s something cute. As a preface, I’m not against children petting King as long as he’s not actively working. Otherwise, he has a job to do and he needs to focus.

However! When his vest is off and he’s taking a break, he loves children. And they love him back. He has all the patience in the world for them climbing all over him and hugging him even though his fur is so sensitive. He actually gets pouty when kids don’t want to pet him, it’s the cutest thing!

Say it with me now: A Service Pokémon is not a pet for your child to play with. A Service Pokémon is medical equipment that is keeping me sane and a semi-functioning member of society. Keep your child’s grubby hands away from him.

7:00AM ➤ Wake up, begrudgingly

7:15AM ➤ Feed the babies, feed myself, stop King from raiding our berry drawer

7:30AM ➤ Get dressed, staring longingly at all the cute clothes I’m not allowed to wear to work

8:15AM ➤ Get King ready to go to work. He’s very picky on which vest he wears and what patches. It’s a process

8:30AM ➤ Journey to work, avoiding any and all potential battles. I don’t have the energy for that this early, thanks tho!

9:00AM ➤ Arrive at work

9:00AM - 10:00AM ➤ Prepare for the day, do paperwork, etc.

10:00AM ➤ Store open~!

12:00PM ➤ A break, finally. Time to munch. Break time for King too!

12:15PM ➤ Back to work :( 

2:00PM ➤ Lunch time <3 I always go right up the road to eat, mainly so I can see the Alcremie the baker has. She’s so cute! King gets a small break as well.

2:30PM ➤ Back to work -_-

6:00PM ➤ Finally clocking out~ Time to journey home. King is a little restless usually so I let him battle a few of the wildlife to get his energy out

6:30PM ➤ Home! Greet the babies time. Also, change into something comfy

7:00PM ➤ Dinner for me and the babies. King is picky as usual. Aella eats all his food. Again. Fun times

7:30PM - 9:00PM ➤ Outside time. The babies are over the moon to be outside and I feel like a terrible owner. King disagrees by headbutting me repeatedly

9:30PM ➤ Shower and self-care <3

11:00PM ➤ Bedtime. Also known as “let’s scroll on our rotomphone until we actually feel tired enough to fall asleep.” King glares at me repeatedly as the time ticks by

1:00AM ➤ Finally tired. Goodnight~!

A customer just got angry at me and my coworker because their hair was melting off 😭 When we asked what happened they said they (get this) heard that if you put a fire type Pokémon on your head while the color is processing, that it speeds it up. And so they put their friend’s Pansear on their head for like… an hour??? (Which begs the question of how they got the Pansear to sit there for that long) Hairdryers exist, dude!!! Also, sure, it works, but you have to be careful!! You are working with chemicals after all (They also conveniently forgot to mention that they used 40 volume developer on already damaged hair 🙄)
