Reader works her tailor/clothing store with her Grandpa, her and Tao go way back since childhood!
Story is set in where Tao and Reader are say around 11 or 12 -ish

The first time you'd ever sew something up for Tao, it wasn't even her that asked, instead it started with you spotting her in an alley with a shirt and shorts-- in the middle of winter.
Right across your shop as you were clearing off snow on its front you saw a girl run and hiding into an alley, in a flash you saw what had surely been her pursuers run right past her into the distance. Yet even more shocking was the attire this girl had on. Your fingers were practically ice pops and there she is not even a sweater on her arms. You were practically finished with clearing up the front of the store soo it surely wouldn't hurt to try and pry heh.
R: Its pretty damn obvious you aren't-- but are you alright? I got extra sweaters up in our shop!
(ahh the girl was surely 2 sizes bigger than you but it'd surely be better than anything else right now)
The girl started off her response with a glare, not at you but at the surroundings first and took a quick pause to consider your words.
T: You sure?
Of course she was more than aware that you saw how she actively ran and hid from those men chasing after her-- you probably should've questioned her a bit before putting up an offer but it was too late, by your view atleast.
R: More than, my old coats and stuff surely wont fit much but ill try to scavenge for as much as I can!
With that you pulled her up and led her into the shop

Right as you came in you took in the little actions that must've branched from consideration. (SCARPSCRAPCSCAP)
Before she entered she dusted off herself from the snow and dust.
Right as you entered the cold tense atmosphere lifted away and soo did the girls stiffness. From the entrance you led her to the back.
R: Hmmmm What's your favorite color?
T: Anything's fine
R: Ill take you up on that!
It wasn't long till you found tons of coats, but none exactly fitting her size.
R: Damn they're either too small or wayyyy to big- id make you one but that surely couldn't be done in a day
Just as you lost hope there way one coat in the pile that caught your eye.
A slightly muted pale purple with light pikton blue buttons that was probably the closest size to her was what you found!
R: How bout this one? It matches your eyes!
You didn't even give a frame for reply as you swiftly handed it to her
She didn't reply with words that quick, but you could see by the interest of her eyes that you struck her style.
T: You really don't have to you know that right
was what broke that quick silence
R: I do, but I still do it
The girl didn't reply other than lower her head slightly, only then you noticed around her arm hanging was another coat, smaller in size and definitely not for herself.
T: You think I can take this too?
You had to stop yourself from questioning and immediately nodded
R: Of course! You could take 6 or 7 more if you needed to
From then you started to walk to the stores exit till right at the door the girl paused
T: You don't even know me -- or my name
Oh
She's right though
R: AH god I don't even know how that slipped pass my head- but- ah-
(Holy damn that was embarrassing how the hell have you invited a stranger without barely getting her na-
T: Tao
T: Tao Saotome
Her voice struck with the most sternness it ever had so far
R: Y/N!
Right after that should've been the queue for Tao to leave but a moment lingered that neither one of you wanted to interrupt
R: I couldn't possibly have made a coat for you in a day- but please comeback next week! Im sure by then ill have one ready and made just for you!
T: …Promise?
R: Promise!
The memory ended there, but your relationship sure didn't.

Small headcannon for Tao but ik my queen does NOT support fast fashion! Soo of course with the troubleshooting business things can get messy, and she prefers getting things fixed as much as she can rather than just buying something new every time.
I was torn between Reader being a tailor or hairstylist but I feel being just a hairstylist would limit their interactions
This is just a tester to see if i should invest in this deeper, but if this does flop it doesn't mean I wont drop it! It'll jus be more of a take-my-time project, so treat this as a Part 1 or Trailer
